Jennifer Wilkinson testified Monday that the episode began when she told her husband about her desire for a divorce while they were driving on Interstate 78 East.

She said Robert Wilkinson immediately threatened to kill himself and began driving erratically. He allegedly hurled his wife's personal and work phones out of the moving vehicle before tearing off jewelry and tossing that as well.

Jennifer Wilkinson said her husband then began to beat her – all while the couple's young son cried in his car seat, according to testimony.

At the I-78 East exit for Easton, Robert Wilkinson alluded that he'd let her leave with the boy, but changed his mind and got back on the highway headed westbound, according to Jennifer Wilkinson.

Her husband continued to threaten suicide, saying he'd kill her and the boy as well, she said. Robert Wilkinson's vehicle reached speeds upward of 100 mph, she said, before he pulled off at the Hellertown exit.

Jennifer Wilkinson said her husband told her he'd kill her if she didn't leave the car. He allegedly said he was going to take their child for a couple of hours and then would drop the boy off at a hospital.

With a forceful push, Jennifer Wilkinson said, she was shoved out of the Subuaru Outback and her husband's real intentions were revealed.

"He said I'd never see my son again," the woman testified. "I had no idea where he was going. I was terrified that I'd never see my son again."

Before he drove away, Robert Wilkinson allegedly swerved toward his wife as she crossed the 900 block of Hellertown Road to find help.

Police responded to a home on Hellertown Road, where Jennifer Wilkinson was able to call for help. Bloodied and upset, authorities say the woman told police that her husband was suicidal and her son was in danger.
