Crime always spikes when draconian gun laws get put in place. GUN violence may see a small cut, but violent crimes like rape, assault, and robbery ALWAYS spike. The statistics are there, it's just a matter of reading.

Exactly right, just because the number of mass shooting is skyrocketing, is no reason to restrict the tool used for mass shootings.

this is due to the fact that it's much easier to get a gun without background checks and mental examinations in switzerland and finland. If you're a deranged guy, who can still manage to come across as a normale person in the us... then it isnt very hard to buy a gun and start shooting people.

also, I suggest you read that link.

The US has the population of multiple European countries and 50x the land mass of most European countries. Your literally cannot compare gun statistics. All states have different laws which essentially results in 50 different countries within the US all having different gun laws.
>>
>>693830592
Guns can be for warding off harm. That's not illegal.

They have strict regs, but lots of gun violence, crime, and gun culture. Hence, it is never as simple as Ban/control guns = Less crime

The way it's currently regulated is fine, it's the lack of common core training and situational awareness that gets people killed. Once again, there's no accountability in America, except when somebody's getting sued.

Honestly arguing about guns is pointless. It is a technology that will be present in all human societies for the entirety of our existence.

There is literally no way to stop people from having and using guns and we just need to fuckin accept the fact that people will die from guns.

Animals have been killing each other for millions of years, now there is a device that makes it much easier...and you think we can just make that disappear by laws?

This isn't political issue its a human issue and it is not changing so anti-gun fags can either learn to use a weapon and maybe give themselves a chance to kill first, or just accept that when you go out among other humans in public, there is a chance some fucker will pull out a gun and shoot.

Guns are an operational hazard of living in this world.

Sure a world with no guns where everyone just fucked each other and licked chocolate pudding out of each others assholes, would be nice. Most shootings are not from legal gun sources but actually from illegal methods which wouldn't do anything if we have gun laws. I went with him to a shell gas station and we were going to get candy when someone started a robbery and the man was going to steal from the station but my father pinned him and stopped a crime, gold people do it legally.

As for the suicide discussion, I was a suicidal teen but my family was good to me and I prevented something that I should have never done. Youre not elimating a problem youre just creating more. My father kept his weapons in a safe and didn't let me or my younger sister know the code but only the people in the house that needed it and nothang ever happened. In the UK your sole chance of mass murder in one sitting is a bomb.

People with no skill and or experience don't tend to meddle with such things.

Since there are no repeating firearms, low calibre pistols and rifles and double barrelled shotguns are fairly well regulated that means obtaining one from a criminal.

People with no connections or experience don't tend to do this.

Chance of a mass shooting or fantastically fatal school bombing. Almost zero. It works as much as you'd like to argue the fact.

An angst teenager in the UK cannot kill everyone that's pissed on his cornflakes. Yet you campaign to continue letting your disaffected youth, whom you create ever more of, own or have easy access to weapons that can kill half a hundred at a time.

Your loss, when it's your kid that's dead you might change your mind. But apparently until that day it's just entertainment for American's to watch on TV.

You need to draw an arbitrary line, where you allow people of a certain mental situation (like being suicidal, depressed, extremely impulsive etc.) to still carry dangerous "tools".

Or would you be fine by allowing a suicidal edgelord, that wants to blow up their school, to actualy carry a bomb straight into that school.

> The "tool" itself does nothing, So why ban it?

Because it can do bad shit in the wrong hands. And how big the "bad shit potential" is, should be a factor
>>
>>693837900

>You need to draw an arbitrary line, where you allow people of a certain mental situation (like being suicidal, depressed, extremely impulsive etc.) to still carry dangerous "tools".
these lines already exist and you not knowing that proves that you don't know what the fuck you are talking about

if you have committed a felony
if you have been committed to mental health facility
you can't legally obtain a weapon

but no since you asked my opinion, i don't believe that gun regulation should exist outside of the 2nd amendment.
>>
>>693837811
Not in Finland. Police just knocks on the door and takes them away. We also have to have a license to buy guns, so those people aren't given new licenses. Doesn't stop some people from getting illegal guns but at least gun owners are a bit safer in that regard compared to American gun owners. Just recently a police was shot and another wounded with a stolen RK 62 and none of our liberals said anything about gun control, because we already have it to some extent.
>>
>>693837811
the problem is how do you keep criminals and the mentally ill from getting firearms? most of these people have no criminal record and are able to pass a background check.

The guy that shot up that gay club in florida had a permit to carry and a special endorsement that allowed him to carry more places. The endorsement required even more training and background checks. He had it because he worked security. How do you stop a guy like that without disarming security personnel?

The best you can do is background checks but they wont stop most mass shooters and they won't stop criminal from having someone else buy the guns. You have to add registration. This still doesn't do much though because someone can just remove the serial number and then sell it to a criminal.

I live in california and we have all kinds of laws. Background checks are required on every purchase, everything is registered now, and we still have lots of gun crime. All the laws do is make it harder for law abiding people obtain and effectively use firearms to defend themselves.

Most people I know who are against registration are against it because they understand it wont do and good and it could eventually be used for confiscation which is a very real threat since many politicians have said they would "take them all" if they had the chance.

I think his point was that seemingly decent people can hide a dark secret. Banning guns isn't the solution, because illegal guns exist but on the other hand the background check isn't working effectively. In order to ensure lawful citizens to be able to own guns but make it harder for dangerous people, the current system you have in the States should be revised. It doesn't have to be stricter but it should be more effective. I don't know how but complete ban and complete freedom aren't good goals.

Just take germany as an example. school shootings becomes the media event of the fucking decade, while ever there in the US, that shit happens at least on a monthyla basis.

Sure. It's much bigger. But even considering that, the difference is ridiculous

In USPSA they regulate guns into hi power and low power, this has worked to make the competitions more fair.

sure but what I am hoping everyone will realize before it is too late is that saying "we need more stricter/restrictive laws" is essentially saying "gun ban" and that's how it works in practice

that is the reason why certain guns I cannot purchase legally in california but if I were to be a resident in say arizona i can purchase said banned item.

If we really have psychos running out in public, do something about that very small population instead of passing a law that affects 300 million people, because psychos can kill plenty without a gun

Canada only recently passed "lots of gun regulation."

Canada had very few mass shootings before they passed their comprehensive gun control laws.

You can't attribute gun control laws to a country with low mass shootings if they had few mass shootings before and after passing those laws.

>>693839996
Thats just it. There is no good way to keep the guns away from just criminals.

Guns aren't the problem though. Crime is the problem. The problem is so many people wanting to murder each other. I don't know how to fix it but we can't just say "it's ok that a bunch of people want to murder others as long as no one give them a gun." We need to get to the root of the problem, not just disarm everyone and let the criminals have free reign as long as they don't use guns.

Can't OP. Canada has sensible gun laws, yet has over 9000 times as many gun related homosides per annum as Amerifat.
So I guess we should keep our retarded opinions to ourselves, because what we're doing obviously isn't working.

Australia had very little "gun violence" before they went full totalitarianism and confiscated guns.

Anyone advocating for Australia's gun control model is advocating for a "mandatory gun buyback" i.e. turn in your guns or else you will be arrested and have them taken from you by force.

Australia's gun violence rate decreased by the same % as the USA's since the 1990s.
>>
>>693840233
And in that 5 million population there was Brevik and....that's it.
Us of fucktards has a mass shooting a day so much that they had to reclassify what a mass shooting is. It's in defensible but 67% of Americunts are under average intelligence so I'll understand if you don't.
>>
>>693827622
the US is beyond fixing this issue. It's not the guns, it's the culture.
>>
>>693840304
i wrote the post you replied to, you clearly missed the point.

If someone is willing to murder someone they clearly aren't a law abiding person but there is no good way to take their gun rights without taking the gun rights of law abiding people.
>>
>>693840962
Where you getting you numbers from dude?
"According to a StatsCan report from 2012 – the most recent year available – the U.S. suffered a total of 8,813 murders involving the use of firearms that year. Canada, in the same year, recorded just 172 firearms-related homicides."

are you retarded. Canada's gun control laws have been pretty restrictive for decades. If anything they;ve only relaxed them recently the last few years and gun violence has increased.

Most of those are the 30% hispanic population and the 15% black population

Blacks are 15% of the population in the USA, and if you removed them, you would HALF the number of murders in the country.

>>693841285
>Canada's gun control laws have been pretty restrictive for decades

And look at Canada's gun crime before they passed it. Did they have high gun crime? Did it significantly lower after passing those laws?

If not, why would it lower gun crime in the USA?

its a whole SLEW of problems ranging from not just regulating who buys guns but the lack of regulations on gun dealers. its retarded that a gun store doesnt have to report its inventory to any regulatory body if they dont want to. Gunstores can easily sell to criminals in bulk and that shit would be difficult to track down.
>>
>>693840489
>"""""""""many""""""""""""

K lad. Last time I checked, nearly all gun crime Rises from offenders with illegal weapons but okay.

I think you were looking for the word "some," genius. Don't inflate facts to support your shitty arguement
>>
>>693841603
>Gunstores can easily sell to criminals in bulk and that shit would be difficult to track down.

Except when they find one gun on a criminal, trace it to the gun store using the serial number, and they don't have the 4473 required along with the background check in order to sell the gun legally

Stop talking if you know nothing about the FFL system or gun laws in general in the USA
>>
>>693840873
Well said and thanks
>>
>>693840310
what kind of data would you expect? most of the time if a gun is used to deter a crime but not fired it may go unreported.

there was a mall shooting right before sandy hook were a ccw holder drew his pistol but didn't fire because too many people were in the background. When the shooter saw him he retreated into a back room and shot himself.

There was also a school shooting a while back were a kid shot another kid or a teacher and the principle retrieved his gun from his car and stopped the shooter.

The reason why most of they mass shootings aren't stopped by citizens carrying guns is because they all take place in "gun free zones" where it isn't legal to carry a gun.

Why do you think these cowards usually choose a school and then kill themselves before engaging anyone who can actually fight back?
>>
>>693841569
usfag here we changed the definitions of "mass shooting" to mean 4 or more people including the gunman if he suicides

so mass shooting is really just your typical hood shootout. not really news...
