Planets need to be in the Goldilocks zone (a planet not too close to the sun where it is too hot, but not too far away where it's too cold) to be habitable. Picture an infinitely long ruler. Each cm marking is a galaxy. The ruler is not getting any longer at one end since it is already infinite. Instead, space is expanding between the cm markings, or the galaxies. They are getting further away from each other as a result.
