I don't really see why it wasn't?

Basically every business, university, and financial expert recommended we stay in based on their predictions, logic, and reason.

The UK economy is now fucked. A large portion of businesses are going to leave, and everyone who voted this way will be dead soon.
>>
>>691448669
All the media and internet was reporting what the experts were saying (such as economists, FTSE 100 workers, wtc) and they happened to be saying that Brexit would be shit.

Also, helps that the Prime Minister was against Brexit as well. But old farts don't go on the internet much, and don't make their opinion based on facts, they make their opinion on what they see around them.

Literally every argument I saw from the Remain camp was either blatant fear mongering or appeals to emotion or a desire to "not be racist". As if wanting control over your own borders, economic policies and future instead of having it determined for you by a group of unelected, unaccountable politicians is racist.

Oh and another issue is no taxation without representation. I seem to remember that being an issue for some small country at some time in history. Can't remember it's name, though.

Fucking farmer jack in his farm in Northumbria is not going to know the reality of what it's like to live in London surrounded by muslims. I do, and I still voted remain because I don't give a shit about the memes. We are a split country, my surroundings are different enough to theirs so much so that things I see on a day to day basis scare these people so much they decide to make permanent damage to this country.

And no, considering the EU made up over 50% of our trade, I don't think we can sustain our own country.

The arguments of the remain camp had to sink to the level of the general public. Initially they tried to use elementary mathematics to explain the benefits, but most Brits find that too hard.

And the UK was perfectly represented at EU level. We just did not always get our way - but we did 90% of the time, and for me that is a reasonable sacrifice to make compared to financial obliteration and the entire UK splitting up.

I'm 37. I've grown up, seen the damage splitting the lowest members of society can do through nationalism.

The elites want the poorest people to turn against each other so they are easier to control. The British Empire used it in India to turn religious groups against each other; divide and rule. This referendum is a modern, and lesser extent of that. Rich pricks like Boris Johnson have turned us against each other.
>>
I don't understand why anyone would want to stay. You retards know you can make trade deals without paying billions of dollars and having an overlord restrict your country's liberty right?
>>
>>691449446
The only argument from the Remain camp that made any sense was "the markets will take a dip". What other arguments did they have besides "Not wanting your poor to be dicked over by uncontrolled immigration is racist" or "the EU loves Britain, please look at this kissing chain"?

Can you point me to a good reason to stay in the EU?
>>
>>691448995
Media tabloids like newspaper are he biggest influence though because they appeal to the highest common denominator, older voters. They're what's important. Look at America, their two presidential candidates are the two most unpopular of all time because people are retards that allowed them to get that far.
>>
>>691449742

Britain will still want access to the European market. Getting that access cheaply will still require them to open their borders.
You can't get access to the single market without relaxing border/immigration controls. Bexiters really did not at all think this through. If Brexiters think England will be better off with tariffs and trade restrictions they've got another thing coming.
>>
>>691449902
Oh, that's right it's summer. Cool bro. Have fun being an internet troll.
>>
>>691449527
Yet it was the poor drop-outs that voted leave. Interesting.

Of course, it's those unskilled labourers, the blue-collar engine of conservatism that are hurt the most by globalisation. Any African or Chinaman can do your job when all you do is count widgets, and he can do it cheaper from his tin-roofed shack.

People are suckers, the wealthy haven't been having any trouble dissolving the middle class and taking all that money because we're all suckers. Left and Right, we're suckers and we never do shit about this endless cycle until shit gets violent.
>>
>>691449742

OK just the basic economic arguments:

The majority of businesses in the UK - of which there are many - are here because this gives them access to the EU, and because of our labour laws.

Now they have no real reason to be here and would be better setting up in Poland where it is cheaper.

Moreover, a massive proportion of HQs are in London for similar reason.

So we've singlehandedly fucked over our manufacturing industry, and our financial industries.

Also, science and major scientific projects - think cern - are run by, and paid for by the EU.

The UK has made a massive mistake and after my contract expires I will likely be moving elsewhere as a skilled migrant - and I will imagine many like me will follow my footsteps.

Conservatism is a movement of the heart, not the head. That's why rhetoric is so effective, and Johnson's lies were so well received.

That was all united with a fear of brown people and a migration crisis in the UK that simply doesn't exist.

Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage offered those lower classes one thing they want, they promised to hate the same people that the lower classes hate. That was enough to do the trick.

The UK has been Trumped and will now be England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

>>
>>691450040
It won't require them to open their borders at all, all it will require are new trade deals. Trade and immigration are two different issues, you absolute retard.

>>691450132
Science projects are already funded by the largest nations in the EU and if you haven't noticed the entire EU has been sinking for the past 5 years. Since 2012 the Euro has lost half it's value against the US dollar. Why do you keep pretending that the EU is the answer when it's literally a sinking ship? If the businesses were better run from Poland why weren't they run from Poland before?

You keep saying that the UK is going to lose everything when in reality new trade deals can be drawn up. It's not an impossible task.

- Research funding. Goodbye to the massive EU funds for science. Good luck leading R&D, even more when it will be more difficult to promote exchange in universities.

- Good luck competing with the US, China, Russia and India in trade agreements and political influence. The EU has some chance to be a powerful global actor. UK alone has not.

- Also, good luck with losing all the EU regulations, done mainly for consumers. Who does not want companies and business screwing you over?

See? No racism or fearmongering. These are all realities.

Also, EU does not tax anybody. And you have representation: it's called European Parliament and European Council, in which representatives of your government are present.

Israel isn't part of the EU yet they have massive R&D funding and their borders are tightly controlled

The UK already pays massive funds into the EU science funds. This hurts the EU more than it hurts the UK.

Good luck competing with Russia in trade and politics? Considering that the UK is a much more stable and stronger economy I don't think they're going to have a problem with that. Besides, NATO is already a thing that exists and works well.

> If the businesses were better run from Poland why weren't they run from Poland before?

Because UK was more attractive than Poland. It probably still is. However, is still London more attractive than Paris or Frankfurt? Creating a secondary headquarters there will be far more attractive because it gives access to all of the euromarket, something that London won't have anymore. See http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/23d576b0-386a-11e6-a780-b48ed7b6126f.html

>You keep saying that the UK is going to lose everything when in reality new trade deals can be drawn up

I know it's not much but two of my A levels included sociology and politics. And no, you're not describing communism, you're describing Leninism (and subsequently Stalinism, Trotskyism, etc).

Orthodox Marxism views socialism as not being strong enough to completely topple the ruling class in a revolution, so he developed his own views towards the relations between the classes and how these metaphorical walls can be climbed. Lenin believed that communism and socialism were identical, and that communism wasn't just an extreme form of socialism. You're being biased by implying anything is explicit in this field of knowledge.

Everything is subjective here.

>Democracy was flawed when it was invented.
"Democracy" itself is only flawed in the core concept that all people are equal and therefore all people should get 1 vote. If just that aspect were tweaked such that only intelligent people who actually buy a vote or trade labor or something else into the system to show they care (and therefore have taken the time to become informed about issues they might vote on, presumably) are the only ones who get to vote, then Democracy might work.

The problem with Democracy is that it allows imbeciles a say in steering the ship. Imbeciles breed more imbeciles and in fact outbreed the intelligent people (who are responsible), then you get a party that represents the imbeciles and they make laws to encourage more imbeciles to increase their numbers (and thus votes). This is when Democracy breaks down. It is what has happened in the U.S. with the rise of the Democratic Party which is primarily based in blacks, the poor, the non-working, etc., with a few straggler delusional, idealistic pseudo-intellectuals from university beating the drum.

I'm not saying that. I am not a Leninist. I was simply telling you that what you (or whoever I replied to) was not describing socialism and communism correctly.

The truth is, the political compass has a wide spectrum of views, the "middle ground" is bigger than most people think. Some people who call themselves hardcore socialists or conservatives are actually center-left or center-right of the political spectrum based on their views. It's simply their own use of the word that makes them a socialist or a capitalist.

As I said before, it's all subjective.

I can't be bothered to read what you're replying to but I'm gonna chime in here and say that Eastern Europe has a lot of right wing nationalist governments because the fall of the communist bloc left them feeling weak and as a nation demoralized. This is why after the fall of the German Empire in 1918 the Nazi party rose to power with promises of ultra-nationalism (which they subsequently achieved, along with a complete self-sustaining economy which most right wing countries strive for, and is the epitomy of fascism)

My question to you is this: why do I waste my life telling random people on the internet pieces of information I've learned in school

>The UK already pays massive funds into the EU science funds. This hurts the EU more than it hurts the UK.

Wrong answer! https://royalsociety.org/~/media/policy/projects/eu-uk-funding/uk-membership-of-eu.pdf In research, UK receives more than it gives (mostly because they have better universities that can tackle on more projects).

>Considering that the UK is a much more stable and stronger economy I don't think they're going to have a problem with that

They won't have a problem. UK will just not be a priority because other markets are more worth the effort, such as *all of Europe*.

NATO does what US does, and maybe European countries could have a say if they acted together. So UK won't have any influence alone, you just proved my point.

Different guy, but I think you're conflating a lot of terms.

Lenin and the Bolsheviks, in addition to the other Russian socialists, held that socialism was the devolution of control of the means of production into the hands of the workers. Hence the creation of local soviets in mines and factories in 1917.

Over time, as the soviets proved too hard to control, the idea of the "people" owning the means of production came to be understood as the state holding the means of production. This process is a little confusing, because it is often referred to as "war communism", Lenin's economic policy to take over the industrial power of Russia to supply the Bolsheviks in the civil war.

However, afterward, Russia went through a process of "building socialism", which was nominally completed in the 1960s under Brezhnev. Speeches from the time then refer to the next step being "building communism". This would have meant a moneyless society with no need for trade or markets, only free exchange of goods based on need. It's an impossible utopia which was never reached.

Bolsheviks, mensheviks, and other Russian socialists views socialism as a stepping stone to communism. They are not the same.

This meant their vile camps used to remain in France. They call them 'the jungle' which should give you an idea of how nice these camps are. Once we have to wait until they cross the border, they will have to be detained in England and the camps will move to Kent.

>How about trying to make all people equal
You simply cannot "make" all people equal. Sometimes you have to tear it all down before you can rebuild. We just might do that in the US.

Some things are too broken to fix. Unfortunate, but true.
