Alright so I'm going to break this down. I've never owned a firearm before, I'm 20 years old and I have $1500 cash. I want to buy an AR 15 online, I've never been convicted, etc. And I found a gun I really want https://www.gunsamerica.com/996173439/CUSTOM-AMERICAN-TACTICAL-OMNI-HYBRID-5-56mm-223-BGA-Alum-Quad-Rail-w-Covers-30mm-UTG-Red-Green-Dot-Optic-with-5-MOA-Dot-UTG-SWATFORCE-LASER.htm I know the whole FFL, where I need to transfer it. But my question is what happens after I buy it, I don't have a CPL or any kind of weapons license and I was wondering if I just go through the normal background check when buying. So when I get there I just pay the transfer fee and I go through the background check and it's done, Correct?
Once again, first time buyer, I've never been to a gun shop before. Thanks /b/
>>
You don't need an assault rifle 15
>>
>>691022523
Go to a gun shop ask them for advice on buying your first gun.

They'll probably give something small like a .22lr or a 9mm.

But a .223 AR-15 is fine because it was also the first gun I shot.
>>
Go to /k/ and you can ask them, they're gonna know more about this than the average /b/tard, post it in the qtddtot thread so they don't get mad, and I suggest getting a 22 semi auto before something bigger so you can learn the basics before you get into the more expensive shit but that's your call
>>
>>691022523
You're asking questions about laws, you need to tell us what state you're in.
>>
>>691022523
>>>/k/
>>
>>691023099
Nebraska, Omaha specifically.
>>
>>691023173
Oh and I did, no replies...at all
>>
>>691023013
This, /k/ is a good place and they know their shit.

>>691023099
This as well, I really hope you don't live in California because that AR-15 is pretty much banned unless you meet certain requirements like having a bullet button.
>>
>>691023247
Stand by...
>>
Check the gun laws for your state.

You can usually transport the gun to/from gunsmiths and ranges without a permit.

You may or may not be able to open carry.

You may have to transport firearms unloaded.

You may have to transport the gun and ammo in separate closed containers, or in the trunk, or both.

You may need to store it securely to avoid liability if someone else grabs. E.g., gun safe, trigger lock..

Failing to comply with gun laws is usually a crime, sometimes even a felony. Don't be a fucking retard. Do your research before you even order it.
>>
>>691023670
This is apart of my research, wouldn't you think? :^)
>>
>>691022523
Here is what you do get an AR-15
a 12 guage shotgun that will be about $1500

Problem solved then all you need is a pistol
9's and 45's are ok I prefer a .357 its basically between a 9 and a 45 good control great accuracy, and great stopping force.
>>
>>691022523
Get a normal AR-15 instead of a custom one.

Then you customize it with parts you bought because you get more freedom on choosing what you want for your AR.
>>
I just need to know what I need provide in terms of weapons licenses etc when I go to the FFL I chose. Do I need to have a permit when I go there, I'll have my ID and SSN, I just need to know what kind of information I need to have to give to the dealer/store.
>>
Oh look, an idiot spending all his money on a gun he will never need. Have fun being poor and making bad decisions for the rest of your life. Amurica!
>>
>>691023247
Looks like all you need to do is pass a NICS check during the transfer and you're good to go. No license or wait as long as your NICS comes back clean. To be safe, like another anon suggested, go check with the gun store where you want to transfer. They will tell you for sure.
>>
>>691024274
Yes you do need a permit to buy any gun depending on the area you live in, but I don't live in Nebraska so it might be different where you live.

He doesn't need a permit for a rifle in Nebraska. Just needs to pass a background check.

Why buy one online? Just go to a gun show

>>
>>691025053
Eh... I mean I could but I think I wanna buy online because I think I'll be able to do more research on the specific gun online rather irl and in person.
>>
>>691024929
Spending 1.5k on an AR really isn't plausible for self protection. If you want to have some fun in the woods, then hell yeah. But not really a home defense weapon unless you live in a gang neighborhood
>>
>>691024274

A driver's license or a passport should be sufficient.
>>
>>691022523
not being convicted isn't good enough these days. you'll need to go through some pretty strict vetting to make sure you can safely own such an assault style weapon. this means yuo'll have to demonstrate some tolerance, responsibility and capability to handle the thing. if you are a member of some strange violent religious sect, or even pretend to be one, you will likely be disqualified.
>>
>>691025215
No problem, I feel your some of your pain, I live in Connecticut. It's bad here, but not as bad a Cali. I felt bad looking up Nebraska laws for this guy and seeing what a free state's laws look like.
>>
>>691025332
Pretty much this. ARs are really nice, but you need a reason for buying a expensive gun like going plinking or hunting.
>>
>>691025332
Just stop, you have no idea what you're talking about on multiple points.
>>
>>691022523
Comtact the store you want it shipped to, let them know about it. Give the seller the gun stores info, pay the guy. Go in store once it gets there, they run background check, you pay transfer fee, get gun, buy some ammo and go home.
>>
>>691025651
yeah he's right though. if yuo're getting attacked by a gang of 30 or so then yeah the assault rifles are justified. yuo know, when you need to kill dozens at once. but usually one good shot with the shotgun is enough to at least deter 99.99% of intruders.

if you are facing a gang, then even a really great assault weapon is not going to save you.
>>
>>691025787
yes, the point is we really need to make our background checks more robust.
>>
>>691026040
>the point is we really need to make our background checks more robust.
FBI NICS background check. Exactly how would you make this more "robust"?
>>
>>691023971
This.

Go to Whittakerguns.com and get the Smith & Wesson M&P15. Good entry level weapon. It's $549 (if sold out just keep watching...it comes back).

Then buy a case, lots of ammo, magazines, and customize it. When you're done you will have enough for a pistol. They had a Taurus .380 for under $200. You will still have some cash left over to go to a range and practice. Don't forget a cleaning kit and lubricant.
>>
>>691026040
Maybe to certain states.
>>
>>691025543
Im not Lol, live in a normal family home... No weird cult or gang I'm apart of. Im white so I should be fine right :^)
>>691025787

>>

>>
>>691026291
>Taurus .380
I was with you until this
>never Taurus
>>
>>691025898
You can say an AR is too much all you want, but these guns are out there for a reason, people buy them for sport, just for defense for whatever reason. As long as they don't do anything illegal I don't see why they shouldn't be bought.
>>
>>691026430
The seller should have your name and all. And when you let the store know its coming, they'll just keep an eye out for it and probably call you when it arrives.

Just call the store and they'll be happy to talk you through the process. They love making $25-$50 for doing nothing but running a background check.
>>
>>691027058
Alright, thank you.
>>
>>691025898
Holy fuck, you are straight up stupid.

Off-the-shelf AR-15s are not assault rifles.

Assault rifles have select fire.

Select fire means an option for burst/automatic.

You are ignorant, go away.
>>
>>691027253
No problem bud, have fun!
>>
>>691027344
But they have sights, semi automatic, and attachments

OP.
Why don't you buy off the shelf at a LGS [local gun store]?

I would advise against buying a boutique AR as your first rifle, especially at a $1500 price tag. I built my rifle from a stripped lower. I've spent about 1200-1300 so far. But it's my nice AR. My first one cost 500 bucks. It works just as good as my special snowflake AR.

You should consider a cheaper entry level si you can buy magazines and ammo, targets, lubricant( AR's need to run wet), a cleaning rod/kit, a case, sling, optics if you choose. Then more magazines, and ammo ammo ammo.
Plus you don't have to wait for shipping this way, of it comes blemished, you don't have to worry about returning it, etc...
>>
>>691027585
>semi automatic

Not an assault rifle. I already said assault rifles have select fire. It's, like, the definition, man.

Sights and rails mean jack.

You should drink some bleach to clear your head.
>>
>>691028069
>especially at a $1500 price tag
It's $800 according to the website. If it was any more, I'd suggest the same thing

Sights make your victim clearer to look at and rails make it possible to attach other weapons such as a foregrip and a knife.

I didn't read. 800 doesn't seem outlandish.

just common sense.

"Knives" don't attack to the rail troll.

Do your homework it your trying to rile people up. You just sound dumb right now. AR's have a bayonet lug on the front sightpost/gas block.
>>
>>691027344
who cares about some shit definition that only helps the NRA. it was defined wrongly. let's not cling to some dumb ass outdate definition. fuck that.
>>
>>691026281
He wouldn't, but "robust" is a good buzzword and politicians he likes use it so he thinks it means something.
>>
>>691028615
Wasn't sure if stupid or troll from the first post.

I'm surrounded by dumbasses who are terrified about guns but know shit about them, so I see real people like that all the time.

I'm liberal as fuck about everything else, but I can't fucking listen to people talk about guns here..
>>
>>691027031
Yeah yeah I know. Heard the same for HiPoint. But it doesn't need to have a reliable range beyond 20 or 30 feet for home defense. That particular weapon has decent reviews. Probably worth it. Obviously not a long range or precision firearm. Just trying to be pragmatic for anon. If you want to spend more and get a far superior pistol, get a glock 22 or 23, or a 1911.
