perks are definitely connections.
and connections are everything.
I landed my job because the head boss was a freemason

as far as ive seen, yes, we oversee the communities and do fundraisers and what not.
no Illuminatti as far as I can tell.

Another Freemason, but not OP, so not faggot.

You need to believe in a supreme being, it doesn't really matter which one.

My initiation fee was $55. Dues are $100 for my lodge but only begin when one becomes a Master Mason.

For proper orders the age is 21 unless you are the direct son of a mason. Queensland is kinda weird that way.
>>
>>691019653
The part of the ritual is to tell you the consequenses (which are brutal btw) but that was back in the time of king david.

Post a pic, or describe anything else you see on the front or back. If there's only a square and compasses, it is probably just a souvenir from some Blue Lodge related occasion. Other odd symbols may mean it is from the Chapter Degrees, in the York Rite of Freemasonry. Also, more or less a memento from some sort of an event. You'll see as you move along. Don't ruin the experience by reading too much about it.

My question for you is: "Which office have you held that you have enjoyed most, so far?"

SD, for me. Very impactful presence. Especially in the degree work. I feel connected to the role of Chap., as well, and try to really create a space.

I learned from code books. There wouldn't be nearly as many Masons if we all had to devote too much time away from work and family to learn things the old way. People are too busy these days. It's unfortunate. I draw the line just beyond the code books. I disagree with these one or three day "classes" I hear about. I disagree with the SR trimming up their degrees and allowing some to be skipped. I disagree with the Shrine going public and allowing non-masons to join. Ugh. Too "businessy" these days. Ugh.

An atheist cannot become a Mason, unfortunately. One of the base requirements is believing in a Supreme Being.

I believe the belief in a Supreme Being is necessary because of the influence that religion itself has had on the Fraternity, not just Christianity.

Freemasonry is proof that god is a made up man made concept.

There is absolutely no proof that there is an intelligent creator, but there are many story books and legends of where we came from. So some idiot makes a club for believers.

What do you feel about supporting yet another group that superimposes it's own agenda and petty interests in society. Favoritism is a cancer that allows for undue exercise and accumulation of power, old boys networks are one of the main culprits in corruption and government incompetence, nevermind they disrupt competition and free markets. Doing something that is so inherently self serving under the guise of upholding principles is just petty and certainly a form of hypocrisy.

I've traveled so long, I know longer know if I will ever find my way out.

This path is through a cold desolate world and it's freezing me, inside. This is the direction I chose, and it was originally for the right reasons; day by day the farther I go, the more I feel lost, and alone.
The silence in this forest echoes the dark thoughts that I will never make it out, that I am going the wrong way, that I am wasting my time and energy.

Every step I take, brings me one step closer to the frozen center. It burns, this cold waste. This frigid hell.
In this place, I feel so alone. I miss the company on the journey. These steps are those no one can take with me.

A fear grows that there is nothing for me on this path I take. A rising dread that the direction I am headed will be fruitless for me.
Sometimes, I remember my self. Brief moments of clarity where I see.

This path I'm on, I don't travel to reap the seeds for me.
I do this all for You.

Forgive me.

Humilty isn't the same as stuopidity, is critical thinking a requisite as well?
>>
>>691028983
It's less about the affiliation, and more about trustworthiness, team playing, mental competency, professionalism, courtesy & etiquette, a generally pleasant and friendly demeanor, problem solving ability, etc. These are qualities that can be almost assumed of any Master in my Lodge. Most EAs, even......... otherwise they wouldn't have made it that far. I don't see it as a terrible thing. I think the military and churches do the same... it's just the way people are. They'd rather choose someone out of a group they feel they can trust the most. If it's more than just that... I disagree with it.
>>
>>691029448
>Now it's not held in such high regard

In the 18th and 19th century, masonry was basically a revolutionary organization. It didn't care if a member was Lutheran, Anglican, Orthodox, or whatever. Nobles got no special treatment. Royalty was inducted as apprentices like everyone else.

Masonry, like all such dissident organizations, matters more in hostile environments. Only a small number of people participated in the French Resistance during WWII, but afterwards tons of people claimed to be in it and those that really were became heroes.

There are "Voltaires" and "Mozarts" in the fraternity now. But no one cares.

Nope... Membership requires the belief in a Supreme Being. In other words, you have to believe in one creator. This is also my argument for Satanism in Freemasonry. I would never allow a Satanist to join the lodge because their faith would be in the Creation instead of the Creator. Who created Satan, and who created these other gods? God would have, so it is in him who you should trust.
