So if someone called in for 1 pot plant how much of a shit would you give?
>>
Oh so you're still here, let's see your 100 buckshot/slugs, 2000 223. and 252 .40

No excuse not to show that shit, no personal info and not hard to take a picture of.
>>
>>688732353
i don't care, but i have to seize the plant and possibly contact a supervisor but you're likely to get in trouble for growing. if it's a small plant i don't give a shit. i've seen a lot of people growing one single plant on the windowsill of their bathrooms. if i started a case number for each instance i would be a very busy man for that day.

if you have 3 or more plants then i will take you to jail. it's the law, sorry - i don't agree with it.

you can expect hardassery with the older salty cops, because they went through the academy at at time when marijuana was equivalent to isis.

some new cops are dicks too but only because they lack in the meat dept if you catch my drift.

Interesting so psychologically an officer would use his repression and insecurity for a form of sublimation, so the insecure are given power... That they use emotionally not logically, question... No, I'm a US citizen who went into law enforcement and backed out before it was too late because i realized how shitty of a wrap it is. Also step father is a county sheriff's deputy in a moderate sized city. You're just a liar.
>>
Say a robber got away, but on camera you had pictures of them in a mask.

What powers do the police have to track him down? Can they find anyone who bought a similar mask online recently? Or if the guy made a clean getaway do you pretty much just post the pictures to the public and hope for a tip?
>>
>>688735023
backed out of a secure job with great bennies and resources out the ass? are you sure you didn't get fired for breaching protocol or you just couldn't hack it during FTO? because i know a lot of slack ass people who couldn't make the cut.
>>
>>688734363
How do you define a challenge? Well minus the obvious "I KNOW MY RIGHTS PIG" assholes.
But like challenge on conviction or challenge like they're trying to cause aggression?
Also where does morality play into this?
Is it like Robocop
1 protect the innocent
2 Serve the public
3 uphold the law
Or does the job/bueracracy/paperwork come first?
I'm asking more generally Like percentage of how many do what but don't be afraid to answer personally.
>>
>>688735268
eyewitness testimony, anyone who personally knows the guy. just hope for any surveillance cameras in a 10 block radius can pick up on vital details. if not, it's usually thrown into the Detective bureau where some 8-5 guy checks into it and decides if it's even worthwhile checking into.
>>
>>688735478
So you would check cameras from say intersections close by and hope to see something?
>>
>>688735297
No, because they spend most of their time doing funeral processions and paper working, then the real action comes when you get to solve petty domestic disputes.
>>
>>688735268
The police don't give a fuck that you got robbed.
>>
>>688735367
first come my oath that i swore to uphold the constitution

meaning, even if i had some i know my rights asshole, i'm still going to try to be fair and not be an abusive dick like the many you see throughout the news.

another thing, i won't let public opinion and the news dictate how i do my job. if i have to shoot someone, i will.

you won't get a straight answer from a cop you ask in person because of bureaucracy and never really knowing if it's a check up from internal affairs. now on an anonymous forum, of course i'll let you know how everything works.

i will always protect the innocent to the best of my ability... i haven't quite made the decision on whether i would sacrifice myself for someone else or not.. it has never arose. i suppose it's all situational.

all the tickets i usually write are DUI or reckless driving where you feel like the guy could seriously cause bodily harm.
>>
>>688735627
yeah.

>>688735905
paper work is the backbone of my job, but i'd say most of my job entailed me going after stupid marijuana cases/pulling people over. a lot of domestics and personal fights that turn out to be civil matters in court. go figure.

>>688735367
i'm going to be honest with you, the reason a lot of cops don't seem to care is because they're doing it for the paycheck and for that momentary satisfaction knowing you could help somebody out and be useful... can't tell you how many times i've stood around as a new cop for a veteran to come in and take care of it. it's an interesting experience.
>>
bumppppp
>>
>>688736085
So do you have any anecdote where someone was 100% guilty but you let them go? Ie stereotypical young girl, let me off with a warning, except not as superficial and sex appeal, more so you know of their guilt but conviction didn't seem the answer, or are there quotas to fill?
>>
>>688737170
on the contrary, we have what's known as discretion. i have yet to let a girl off (80% try to get off from severe traffic infractions or assaults) from a penalty. the only time i've let someone off the hook was if their life was seriously going to come to a screeching halt from an action that i would have taken.

case and point.

17 year old coming home from his girlfriends home past curfew for underage drivers, i let him go home. he was respectful and courteous. he turned what could've been a 4 hour deal impounding a vehicle, contacting parents for pick up into a 3 minute verbal warning.

i've also got a good gut feeling for detecting things that are not normal.
>>
>>688737170
also there are no quotas ever to fill, but we are expected to do some traffic work at the beginning, middle and end of the month. i just try to get 1 to two traffic stops in a week so that i can say i've done my part.
>>
can you explain, the psych test, and polygraph and whatever else you do.

Most of my friends are involved in police and i get alot of different answers. Ones a marine MP, ones a stater that just breached policy and got let go, and one failed durring one of the background checks with something to do with his family but they wouldnt say what supposedly.

Whats the hardest thing you had to answer truthfully, whats other shit they asked durring poly, anything.
>>
State patrol here won't say which state though as that has already been narrowed down quite a bit.
>>
Do you like donuts?
>>
>>688738076
hardest thing to answer truthfully was drugs and some questions during the oral board that really threw me off.

psych test they usually just ask you certain things over and over but rephrased to see if you respond differently or lose it. same with the polygraph, questions like "have you ever dreamt of your mother naked"

my oral board though, that got me. they asked me a question pertaining to an offcolor joke regarding race in the presence of a person of color. I really didn't know how to truthfully answer that one. I felt like a racist, but honestly, it's a joke just laugh it off and get over it. if it's racism then the problem will get addressed immediately since we have all colors of people wearing the same uniform.
>>
>>688738241
What's the point there a 50 states didn't narrow it down by much.
>>
>>688737849
i fear cops slightly less now

Is the fact anything said can and will be used against you still apply for deals officers make, let's say little timmy gets a fake id at the local frat house and timmy uses his id to buy alcohol at some random grocery store, timmy downs a 12 pack and kicks it, swerves into on coming traffic right in front of a cop car and serves back into his lane cops at a stop light, the officer is obviously pissed little timmy almost killed him, pulls him over, the cops sees the empty box for the 12 pack and timmy just says he is driving his dad's car, the officer says son tell me the truth or I'm bringing you in or something to that effect, if timmy stated his guilt could that be used in a case against him?
Also are there any other tricks to this effect that you know of?
>>
>>688738563
don't fear them at all, but i will say this, always have a lawyer present for any official questioning. even we need our lawyers if we were to ever come across some type of investigation against us.
>>
>>688738553
Actually most states use either state police or highway patrol. I just searched and there are 7 states that use state patrol so yes it did narrow it down.
>>
>>688738841
little timmy would need a lawyer at that point, i believe at that point the officer would notice his impairment and take him in. don't say a word to a police officer until you are being represented.

I have been involved in some situations where things got out of hand, but all within legal parameters for an LEO to effect an arrest.

Graduated from the acadamy in 2013 and I'm only 26 so more then likely yes. I prefer dealing with traffic over what the cities cops have to deal with. Also being able to start my shift from home is a plus.
>>
>>688739562
they're dressing like they're 29 and 30. it's kind of fucked up really, because i've had some 16 and 17 year old girls talk to me while on calls and i would've thought they were 23 and 22 until i check their ID's. that's when i run em and slowly back away from them before they try to accuse me of a sexual assault.

back when i was going to high school, 16 and 17 year olds looked like their age.

I had to take an alcohol sales class and the guys teaching it was a ex cop, he asked that question at the end (we were 2 hours over because these 2 older woman wouldn't stop asking unrelated legal questions) and I was the only one who said I wouldn't tell the cop anything, and everyone looked at me like I was crazy and I simple stated that, anything said can and will be used against you and their looks changed from ridicule to shock the ex cop included.

Anecdote aside.

What kind of vechicles are chosen for a traffic stop and on what grounds can you stop anyone? (my assumption is any reason) but also besides the obvious, no tail lights or speeding or swerving, like any color in particular? Or if there's body damage? Pickup Trucks?
>>
>>688739976
the ones who remain silent stay silent. it's easier for me. i hate making small talk driving some sad sack to booking... asking me things like "so when am i gonna get out?" do i look like a judge?
but seriously, stay quiet. know your rights, as much as i hate those cunts, they are somewhat right about staying silent for official questioning. staying silent about a traffic stop is just retarded, though.

ha, yeah. a lot of people are their own worse enemies because they've been indoctrinated into believing certain things. shame because someone will shoot their mouth off and not realize that we have to officially document everything.

i can stop anyone, ranging from not maintaining lanes, stupid things dangling from the rearview mirror, light out, illegible license plate lettering, tints. BOLO vehicles are grounds for stopping, no PC needed.

As far as drugs, weed should be legal in all 50 states. That is all untapped revenue... but you can thank big pharma for that being outlawed in a lot of states, still. The next I'd say is MDMA since i've read it's been beneficial for veterans with PTSD. Heroin, Meth and cocaine should remain illegal.

i observed a shitty 2002 toyota celica being driven by some moron who wouldn't roll his windows down. the vehicle was in severe need of repair, including the tires which had wires visibly sticking out. other than it being a hazard, the guy kept saying i had no right to pull him over, that he was "traveling" and not driving.

he kept trying to shove these papers printed off of google saying that i had no right to pull him over so i additionally cited him for littering 12x, each sheet of paper left blowing in the breeze. i charged him with interferring with the official duties of a police officer and resisting arrest.

i broke his driver window out after 5 minutes of going back and forth. i also had his car seized and they destroyed it because it couldn't be sold at auction. it smelled hideous inside, too.

How does it feel professionally spending most of your time crippling lives financially for victimless crimes?

Do you actually believe that legality = morality? or do you just not care that essentially you are the low level muscle for an extortion ring of the lower classes?

Did you choose this job because
a) you have some whiteknight delusion about being the truely virtuous one who deserves a gun and a badge and an army of lawyers to get you out of the consequences of any decision you make?
b) you're dumb enough to the that the way the laws are structured is the way they should be, and you're proud to uphold them?
c) You thought your fellow officers would let you pick and choose which laws to enforce?
or
d) you don't really care. You're a complete shitstain and that's other people's problem?
or
e) You're fresh out of the military and have no real skills or insights or experiences worth sharing other than killing strangers for someone else's oil shares. So fuck it. Gimme another gun.

What is your IQ?

How many books have you read this decade?

Are the women who actually like you all stupid whores who are mostly just clinging to your alpha gorilla mentality?

And if none of the above applies to you,
How does it feel to be the bitch on the force? Are you planning on staying?

Have you ever done any super duper ways to catch speeders? Once seen a cop under a highway bridge (pretty hard to see him in the shade under the bridge, was very bright out) his patrol car was on the shoulder with the direction of traffic. He had his driver door open and his scanner in hand facing traffic. If I got caught I would have congratulated him on his ingenuity. Also, how to argue with cop if he catches you speeding while he is driving? I know there is the whole, well I can tell just because im trained. But really, if a LEOs car was moving at highway speeds. But I find it kinda hard to say that as an argument, even if true, let alone with no evidence. Is there evidence? Like a radar gun that takes in account the patrol cars movement? I once got a ticket on a dead as highway. Was doing 75 in a 65.

Ha, yeah Florida Highway Patrol are notorious for parking their black cars under the bridges down here and running radar. same here, i would pretty much say that was a sweet spot.

75 in a 65 and they wrote u for that? must have been one bored ass cop. i don't even turn my car on unless i see lock into my radar a solid 20-25 over, then it's a good 75/25 chance of them pulling me into a pursuit which is fun.

if they're doing 75 to match your speeds and they still notice you are pulling away from them then the suspicion of speeding comes into play, but in order to get a locked numerical result that you can effectively use in court, a LIDAR or radar gun is used.

can't find the picture i actually want, but this should show you well that there is like a "reticle" you look at when the car that is speeding is highlighted, kinda like how a rifle optic would be used.

the only time i ever get annoyed by somebody texting and driving is when they don't have control of their vehicle. (swerving in their own lane, merging without even noticing) then i pull them over and read them the riot act. if they're sorry and polite i will give them a verbal warning.

i tend not to write people on things that i'm guilty of, too. for example, speeding.

if you're doing 50 over that's a different story. 20 over is my limit.

How does it feel professionally spending most of your time crippling lives financially for victimless crimes? Victimless crimes are obvious. DUI isn't a victimless crime if that is what you're inferring. I've previously said I don't care about weed.

Do you actually believe that legality = morality? or do you just not care that essentially you are the low level muscle for an extortion ring of the lower classes? We all need jobs. If you really wanted to put police out of work, stop committing crimes.

It's D. Also, it's my way of earning a commercial rotorcraft rating and moving onto private helicopters or oil rig flying when I retire with a kickass pension from here.

What is your IQ? Somewhere around a little above average. I'm not a genius, clearly, or I wouldn't be in this career.

How many books have you read this decade? This decade? Quite a bit. Last few years? Zero. Unless you consider all my protocol binders and academy textbooks bookreading, then it's still been quite a bit. I'd say about 22 books.

>>688747744
Not really, we just happen to deal with a lot of the black community when they aren't in their best moods. When we go to a black community, it's usually to pick someone up on an outstanding warrant.

When we go into white neighborhoods it's because of domestic calls or rapes.

Does that sorta explain it?

>>688747487
A federal appeals court in San Francisco ruled Thursday that people do not have a Second Amendment right to carry concealed weapons in public, in a sweeping decision likely to be challenged by gun-rights advocates.

An 11-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued the 7-4 ruling, upholding a state law requiring applicants to show "good cause," such as a fear of personal safety, to carry a concealed firearm.

The judges, further, definitively dismissed the argument that a right to carry a concealed weapon was contained in the Second Amendment.

I didn't actually care what the answers were. I've just met a lot of shitty cops and felt like putting this guy through the ringer. If he's a good guy then cool. It'd be literally the first cop i've ever met who was a thinking adult. And I don't really feel bad because he probably gets it all the time from people a lot less reasonable than myself. And if I was right, then, really no explanation needed. It really does really piss me off that he's spending so much time on the internet while admitting he's both on duty and driving. I used to get harassed by six squadcars at a time for just walking down the street looking too stoner.
>>
>>688749172
They aren't quotas, we aren't required to write a certain number. We are expected, however, to go out and write *some* tickets.

To give you an example of what I do:

At the beginning of the month, whatever week it falls upon, I try to write at least 3 GOOD tickets for some serious life threatening infractions. Middle of the month I'll do 2 tickets, and at the end of the month I write 2 tickets.

If you see a cop who is actively writing everyone up, they're either part of a special traffic unit (don't agree with) or they're just dickheads.

>>
>>688749251
Maybe it's time to move. Florida cops are usually the nicest but we know how to do our jobs because of the ghettos down here.

In other words, we deal with real crimes.

To explain why I'm on the internet while "on duty" it's because I'm doing traffic detail for a construction crew. (parked alongside road with lights going) and I can't really leave so I'm bored.

In high school, I used to smoke pounds and pounds. A lot of other cops did too but won't admit it because they lied about it getting hired.

Sorry to hear about your experiences with the police in your town.

Nothing you can really do, I am sorry to hear about that. There are folks out there who are such secret abusers it makes me sick. Abuse doesn't end at physical, it can continue, sometimes with more impact, psychologically.

We've been trained to deal with people who suffer from Autism which, not saying you're autistic, sorta matches your dilemma. A lot of Autistic people will be afraid of our dogs or uniforms or helicopter noise trying to locate them and often end up in lakes... dead. So we have taken new educational courses from people who specialize in treatment for autistic people.

Wow, that was kinda long. I just wanted to say that before we never had much training with mentally ill people but now we're getting the resources to educate ourselves regarding this.

No, not autistic, but I do believe that any training regarding autism or the plague of aspergers (which would make dealing with cops even worse than what I've got) is a good thing.

>>
Might was well ask here, because I'm not sure how else I'm going to figure out what the hell happened without seeming nosy.
This just took place:
>be in bathroom, nearest wall to adjacent apartment
>Hear guy shouting at woman who probably lives there, to get up, repeatedly, while banging on the bedroom door
>She doesn't, he threatens to call ambulance, then does
>Can make out him say that all he wanted was to be there for her
>2 cops show up, followed by 4 or five firemen/paramedics
>One cop possibly mentions weed, can't be sure
>Woman is lowered from her balcony to the ground (they didn't take her down the stairs), placed on a stretcher, and moved into an ambulance.
>Paramedics seem amused as they leave
>A fire truck, an ambulance, and 2 cop cars leave the parking lot

What the hell was that? I would have asked the cops but I didn't think to take out the trash and "stumble upon" the situation until it was over.

>>
>>688753673
It's not that tough. If I suspect an officer of doing something illegal, all I need to do is send a tip to IA and have them checked out. Like another poster said, we can't assault a public servant, not to mention if they actually are crooked, I don't want another target painted on my back from within. Just anonymous tip it and leave it. If there's something worthwhile looking into they'll take the officer off the road for a while pending investigation.

I had 3 years of armed security experience so they looked at that favorably.

My average work week is like 45-48 hours. If shit hits the fan then it's a 55 hour week. $$$$

I want to go state police vs local/city police. I feel like they get paid better, trained better, and generally dont deal with as much shit
thoughts?

>i've networked quite a bit now at 24 to have fallback careers in case this one didn't work out
elaborate because there are days where I think id like being an LEO and other days Iim scared ill hate it and want to quit

Generally speaking, a lot of state agencies like state patrols or police or highway patrol are the lowest paid agencies (unless you live in a weird state where state makes more than a populated county) as for training, state usually has a great education. Down here our academy was at the local community college... All of the same training that the highway patrol down in Florida gets but now I don't have to deal with 35k a year and rather earn a base pay of 58k or so.

If you want active you can keep moving about and answering calls proactively, but after doing it for months and months day in and day out, u get tired of jumping on calls... I also hate doing paper so I just try to bang out a report as soon as I get done dealing with a call... If you let 15 reports pile up before u leave shift its going to feel like you're writing a college research paper in 1 hour.

As far as the weed, I used to smoke and thought I could here. It's not the drug tests that I'm worried about because I've yet to have been tested.. It's the surprise stuff like a possible car accident or having to pop someone on the job and they test my blood and see its full of THC. Down the road a I'm sure places like the Portland Police Bureau or a PD in an area where legalized weed is will draft a protocol for officers who want to smoke.

Yeah in security when I used to work that. Haven't done it as a cop. Feels very "abusive".
>>
>>688761642
Don't think it's abusive, there are people out there who love it.

Crown Vic for sure, loved the engine roar and so much space inside.

You'll have those days always. Any cop who isn't scared is lying, we are always on constant guard looking and checking behind our backs now because of sicko killers. There are also days where it's the best job on earth and I have fun doing it.

Days like today, 8 hours of sitting in an ac car while it rained and I played some Runescape and posted on /b/ because of an overtime gig, kinda boring but when I think of the actual cash I made today, it's like $380 after taxes.

Understood, buddy.

Keep up the good work.

I have a DWI trial approaching very soon. Is there any way in hell that I could somehow stop the arresting officer from showing up? If so, how? Like is it at all possible to find cops addresses?
>>
Don't get me wrong, me having sex with this girl one time while in uniform at work was exciting. Didn't think that kind of stuff worked for me, but I am very weary about doing it anywhere remotely near a uniform or a police car. These days our cars are bugged with microphones and cameras and we also have mics in our shirt pockets that work for our dash cam audio.

Noticed 1st hand.
My best friend is a cop and I noticed us hanging out he had one demeanor but when I would encounter him while on duty much more stand offish and cold (best terms I can think of).

It's unlikely that their addresses are posted anywhere, but let me warn you ahead of time. I had a DUI case follow me home one and knocked on my door at 3am. I answered with my shotgun to his face. It's an easy way to get killed.

Contact him via his agency and ask to meet somewhere or call you while on duty.
