Yes, I would. I want to see what will happen in the future and I'm afraid of death.

Define immortal.
U need at least eternal youth. I dont want to be an old decaying But Living corpse on a golden throne.
And what about illnesses in General? And lost limb Regeneration?
>>
>>688489947
Most anons would choose immortality because they are fat neck beards who are afraid to die.

This was a hard choice for me because if there is anything spiritual past death I would be missing out on it but on the other hand, true immortality would allow me to basically become a silent god that witnesses all eternity but has little impact upon it. Sure, if other species rose to power I would be considered an oddity, a watcher, something that has always been and will always be, but I could be a recorder of all that happens from my perspective. Also, depending on technology that becomes available to me, I could witness more, watch more silently and without social impact which chances are likely that would happen just by living through our species lifetime. Shit man, stuff like this really gets me thinking. Thanks anon. 10/10

Absolutely not

Can I choose 1 person to share my immortality with?
>>
>>688490839
Yes I would. When you think about eternal life it is terrifying but the journey will be like no other. All the planets you will see, all the living beings you will meet, all the things you will learn.
>>
No. I'm not scared of death
>>
I suppose so
I'd dress up as a plague doctor
Go around solving mysteries, stopping crimes and shit
Maybe run for president
Fight in the army
All the attempted assassinations as I appear in the news more and more
Someone might write a book about me
Once I've conquered the fucking world because I'm invincible
I shall sit on my throne
And raise the age of consent for trannies or any other made up gender to 100 years, not counting bullshit past lives or immortalkin or whatever shit they will come up with
But my final goal
To cleanse the world of cancerous, parasites that do no work and get more than the workers funding them
And when the world is full of honest hard workers, I shall step down and start just stopping crimes and shit again, let the real people run the world
Because it isn't mine no matter how much I want it to be

As in: if I am damaged will my body heal no matter what like Deadpool or wolverine
Or can I not be damaged at all and I am indestructible

If you live forever there is literally a 100% chance you will end up floating through the universe for trillions of years. You'll outlive our universe and then you'll just exist with nothing. Forever. I couldn't imagine a worse situation.

I wish I was immortal... Not that death sucks, but being around forever would be really interesting. Because I want to know about the future. The only problem with being immortal is seems to be, if the universe dies there won't be much to do. But even then you have to be immortal to know for sure. So anyone who says immortality is a curse is a huge faggot.

This.

Nope.

Mortality is what makes us value life. If you're going to live forever, what impetus is there to stop and smell the flowers today when you have the resit of eternity to do it?

Not only that, but each and every friend you make will die. And you may be ok with this the first few times, but after doing it 10 000 times, it might get a bit much. And watching your family die....... Ugh. No way. I'd rather be the first to die among my family. I couldn't handle watching everyone go before me.

I envision most people would end up being a monk in the mountains meditating their immortality away for eons.

The older you get the more you realise nothing much in the world actually changes. I've learned this in 30 short years. I'd fucking die inside if I had to revisit the same lessons for hundreds of thousands of years. Or fucking millions of years.

No way. I've even come to a point where the idea of eternal nothingness doesn't really scare me. Even the idea of existing FOR EVER in heaven doesn't sound appealing. I mean.... Forever is a fucking long time.

Think of the verrrrry longest time yiu can. Then times it by two. Then times it by ten. Then times by a million. And so on.

You are assuming as much as anyone else, surely you'd get used to being around forever. I don't understand the "YOU'LL LOSE YOUR MIND YOU FEEBLE HUMAN, YOU CAN'T EVEN COMPREHEND INFINITY" attitude. You won't even notice the past 49 million years you've been on earth, except for when you think about it. Planet Earth can support life for a billion years, and the only way to see what'll be there is being alive.

If I had immortality, I'd emulate Mr.Pickles from the show of the same name

Yes.

Absolutely, instantly, and without question, I would accept.

No matter the cost.

Because then I would have forever to atone for any ill that came about as a result, AND I'd have forever to do good and help others, and I'd have forever to find a way out of any negatives that came along with it.

Forever means there's really no way to lose

It really depends on the conditions of the immortality. My initial reaction was to say no because evolutionarily my purpose as an organism more or less ends when the rest of the species ends. After human civilization ends and the underpinnings of human life are gone (relationships, culture, sex, food, etc.) you'd devolve into some type of schizoid with no sense of self or be forced to become some kind of interstellar monk, meditating away the hellworld reality you will forever exist in.

On the other hand, assuming I'm immortal, it's inevitable that I'll bump into some highly evolved civs and hopefully add some sick mods to my human meatprison (hyper-intelligence, install alien sex organs and have interstellar orgies, tap into a hive mind and take them over).

In either case you'd become completely different and detached from what you are now, which is essentially a death in itself.
>>
>>688490839
Anyone that agrees to do this really has no conception of time or the real age of the universe. Yes, there would be some definite good times, and you would experience things that no human could even conceive of. You would probably be able to build an insane amount of wealth and live like a king, and influence hundreds of generations of humans. You also could have thousands and thousands of children and spread your seed to the corners of the earth and eventually the corners of the galaxy. This power would be intoxicating.

But.

Eventually, there will be the heat death of the universe. For billions - LITERALLY BILLIONS - of eon you will float in infinite darkness, with every single atomic particle so far from each other that they will never touch. The blackness would be unending, and you couldn't die. You would float, your brain more insane than the wildest dreams of any human before you or all humans combined. The torture would be unending, a literally infinite amount of time for your brain to experience the pain of madness.

A million times no.
>>
>>688497688
Kind of funny you say "not an argument" in the same reply as that shitty ass rebuttal. It's basically "I know more than you lol ur stupid" without any argument whatsoever. Please give me your knowledge of quantum physics to back up your statement. Go ahead, I'll wait.

>>
>>688493206
A sacrifice I am willing to make. You would have pretty much infinite power and that is not just something you can use for personal gain. You would be living testiment to everything that has happened and will happen. History will forever be corrected at your touch. Imagine talking to someone who lived during the dark ages. Now imagine if that same person lived during the stone age aswell.

You would be a person who have perfect recollation of 9/11, the immigrant crisis, potentially WWIII, the invention of the first supercomputers, first proper space travel, and you will be able to experience these things while also living to tell the tale to all of humanity. You could reach godlike status and be a deity amongst men.

I am pretty sure I could give up losing all the people I love for that. It would be too valuable to pass up on, both for me and the rest of mankind.

How so? I realize there is a school of thought that assumes an eventual contraction and reinflation of the universe, but it doesn't appear to currently have much backing in the scientific community. There's no way to 'escape' the universe, even theoretically, and even if it does contract it would undoubtedly take an incredibly long time, an amount of time that would most certainly drive any person mad. Unless you're predicting some kind of retarded float into a black-hole "Intersellar" retardation, I don't really see how there is any alternative.

No. I wouldn't want to end up like pic related. Being immortal would mean you'd see your parents and loved ones die while you remain. You wouldn't make any friends bc you'd know they would eventually die and thousands of years into the future, you will be the only human being alive. The solitude would drive you insane until the heat death of the universe killed you along with everything in existence.

I would spend the first few thousand years learning, studying everything I could until I could safely say I had knowledge of everything important to man, then I would enter politics and eventually dominate and then unify humanity. I would take us to the stars and in the trillions of years before the heat death or whatever I would find a way to take us to or create another dimension. I would dominate the omniverse and when there was nowhere else for me to go I would find god in a mirror.

All these fags complaining about an eternity of boredom after heat death fucks up the universe.

Think about it, entropy is now your bitch. You'll never die and always regenerate from any wound. If you're smart (like me) you can use these two facts to sustain human culture for eternity.

I'm envisioning a dysonphere like construct, but instead of a star as its fuel source, it would use my own body. The human body is full of useful materials, iron, carbon, oxygen, nitrogen and most importantly: hydrogen. Hydrogen is a high grade energy source when used in a fusion reactor.

Once that is sorted out I'm free to kick back, relax and watch the black holes evaporate. 1 by 1.

As for what to do with my forever? Everything. I'll build a star and a new Earth out of my own fucking blood and bone. I'll count backwards from a billion. I'll push the limits of science to their very limits and learn how to solve rubics cubes. I'll have my chosen people recreate /b/ and shitpost for centuries. I will endure long after the cosmos itself has died.

>influence and shape humanity, meet and influence other civilisations, watch and chronicle the history of the Universe...

Literally the only thing that one can use to make this decision is the knowledge that we currently have about the most likely scenario. Coming up with retarded ideas about flying into blackholes to go to other galaxies and (even worse) the universe being simulated, is maximum autism. Not who you're replying to but even if you get stuck floating in the void for eternity, is that really worse than just dying.

The way I'd imagine it once you got bored you could just sleep and dream. Become some kind of 'great old one', sleeping for decades at a time in the embers of your universe. Seeing old friends and enemies from hundreds of trillions of years ago, exploring endless worlds of your own devising, occasionally waking to jack off or something.

But given the choice for dreaming for eternity and missing out on it? I'd choose the first no matter how much I'd end up regretting it.

I see we've added immunity from mental degradation, so now I have to wonder -- what happens when you have used up every last trace of whatever mechanism in the brain stores knowledge? This is a critical consideration -- and worth bearing in mind that in an essentially infinite amount of time, there will be essentially infinite opportunities to get trapped.
