Yesterday I watched the second season of "Gate: something something Rory is fucking gross" and I used to believe that Rory in general was the worst part of the anime until I saw the 12 year old girl that wanted to get fucked by a full grown japanese ambassador because he gave her a pearl necklace, I was crying, laughing, disgusted and confused. It was like my mind was a teenage white girl and the emotions were a bunch of 30 year old immigrants from different nationalities. At one point the ambassador had to let the girl be taken by the enemy because it was part of his job, but he decided to suddenly jump in and yell "GET YOUR FILTHY HANDS OFF OF HER" this quote opened the way for a second wave of laughter, far stronger than the first. How can one get his "filthy" hands off of something that is already filthy to begin with? This laughter had no connection to happyness whatsoever as it was fueled by madness, madness in its purest form. I felt shackled at the bottom of the abyss. After he got her saved she ran towards him and they hugged very tightly and were but a hair away from sharing a passionate sensual kiss.

I made the transition from dota 2 to LoL a year ago, I still play both occasionally and they're very different. It won't be hard at the beginning since the basics are indeed very similar. However League is a game where mechanical skill trumps tactical thinking, while in Dota teamwork and spells are very influential. Spells in LoL can be thrown out randomly without much consequence, while in Dota one stun can last for 4 seconds, inevitably marking your end. Dota also only has maybe 10 line skillshots as far as I remember, while LoL turned almost everything into a skillshot. It takes a while to get used to that. Dota is als A LOT more complicated then League who tries to keep it simple to have a large playerbase
tl;dr your friend will be fine. Dota for challenge and huge satisfaction at win, League for casual fun and satisfaction at outplays

Dota is A LOT harder to pick up though. There's no brush, instead you can get very creative with the fog of war and terrain. Also there's no such thing as ap so most mages don't scale very well and are more valued for their cc and utility
Pulls and stacks, creep denying, wards are rather different,... It's a lot to take in
