I went to a high school of like 2500 people and there may have been 5 blacks tops, my grade level had 1. I can actually answer your question because I'm mixed myself. I don't usually have it but more blacker people do because their hair doesn't keep in moisture like caucasians/asians do. If they were to wash their hair every day or every other day it would fall out completely; they also have extremely dry as fuck skin (something I have really bad) so putting lotion on is the only way to keep moisturized. It can get really bad in more private areas too.
It's a combination of chemicals they put on them as well as the oils/beeswax or other types of coconut oils they put into their hair.
I personally can't wash my hair every day or every other day like I would want to because if I do my hair literally falls out. Im not even full black, I'm 53% Irish/British/German and 43% Congo/Ivory Coast
