My favorite line in A Rickle In Time is right at the end, where Morty's parents and joking, but none of the kids or Rick are laughing.

Rick says to Morty, "It hurts doesn't it?" It's a rhetorical question as Rick is kind of acknowledging that Morty is aware that there's more to existence than his parents. And once you know that, the people around you who don't know become irritable.

In my opinion, it's one of the closest moments that R and M have shared.

Maybe I am over analyzing it. But I genuinely do thing that R&M works on that level.

there are a lot of topics in the first episode of the second season of rick and morty, one could be the "duality" of Rick character he hate his grandson but he loves him at the point that he is willing to sacrifice, he denies the existence of a god but when he is about to die asks for his help and ends up denying him again shortly afterward. I've gotten past it enough that I now actually love the show, but thats because of the writing.
