Also its an awp map where both sides usually want double awp which makes it boring and slow paced.

I think this is true for CS 1.6 and Source...however the latest redesign makes it really fucking easy to land a good bounce with flash or smoke.
There's so much shit on the level now, around the good bounce spots, that you just aim your crosshair at the stuff on the walls and it's almost a guaranteed perfect bounce into where you want it to explode. Taking back T, and especially disabling awp, is really easy in CS:GO.

Another good map, that REALLY needs to be ported into Counter Strike, is Waverider from Combat Arms.

You are correct on most points.
I do remember a few sneaky maneuvers you could do with enough speed, but they mostly involved teleporters or bouncing off of people mid-air.
I think I enjoy the risk of falling to your death. It's a nice step up from only having regular fall damage.
