Why do so many Americunts not like the idea of free university?
>>
>>677334643
Because the tax payers have to pay for it. Nothing is free.
>>
>>677334643
"free", Taxpayers pay for it and gubment is terrible for efficient use of money.
>>
>>677334643
If everyone can get into college easily degrees wouldn't mean much, also scholarships exist for a reason.
>>
>>677334643
Because I worked hard to get my degree, and I don't like the idea of paying for someone else's. Nothing in life worth getting is easily attained.
>>
>>677335291
They don't mean shit now so...
>>
>>677334643
Stupid Eurocuck. Higher education is for the wealthy only.
>>
>>677334643
Because I wasn't an idiot in highschool and earned a full scholarship to my university of choice.

if you're gonna slack and be a dumbass you should have to pay to go to school.

don't wanna pay? then actually give enough of a shit to earn a scholarship.
>>
>>677334643

American media has convinced people that anything free will increase their taxes and/or worsen their livelihood. Where in reality all it takes is a reallocation of tax money and raises taxes in not necessary
>>
>>677334643
Because the media is owned by the corporations that don't like the idea of free university. Also the red-baiting that started during the Cold War and never really ended. Also racial tensions surrounding education in general. So lots of reasons.
>>
>>677335627
Higher education is for the people that can get scholarships only.

exactly. americunts are brainwashed by the rich in their country. their massive debts will be the end of them

>>
Because if you're going to spend public money on education, this is one of the worst ways to do it. Its extremely regressive, doesnt really help the economy, and there are lots of scholarships that already exist for people who cant afford college.
>>
>>677334643
Why do so many eurofags like the idea of other's stealing their money?
>>
>>677334643
I think it's because so many of them don't want their degrees that they have devalued.
Everyone has a high school diploma, making it almost worthless. If everyone had a degree issued from a university it would be worth less than if only half of the population had one.So basically they don't want something that is becoming worth less to become worthless.
>>
>mfw America has the best Universities in the world
>mfw America has the best healthcare in the world

When will eurocucks learn that the government can't do anything properly?
>>
It is by far cheaper to pay your way once through college than to pay every person who wants to get a useless gender studies/ art/music/humanities degree for the next 70 years of your life after college.
>>
>>677336695

silly americunt, your universities cost more than a nice house. many in your country take out debts effectively shackling them to the rich. So, instead of taxing the rich to pay for the benefit of society, you instead reward them even more, and your middle class is burdened to soak the cost of your government.

wake the hell up.

Because the proposed plan includes an increase in taxes, and is not feasible under the projected income generated by the increase in taxes. There are also many other areas that either an increase or reallocation of tax income that would better serve to improve the quality of life than a free college education. There is also the matter of a likely decrease in the quality of education once I becomes fully government subsidized, and the matter of the ability to easily abuse the system to take valuable spots in the education programs and still contribute nothing worthwhile or meaningful to society as a whole
>>

I'm sorry, but neither of those things are true. I'm a pretty average dude. my parents made 110k together, got a 3.2 GPA in highschool, mediocre sports performance and I was still able to qualify for enough scholarships to cover about 60% of the cost of my 2 year. The problem lies in the fact that many people are just to lazy to apply for the scholarships themselves.

I'm not for any of this socialist bullshit, but if they are going tax people at the rate they do they definitely should reallocate taxes. I think university should be one of the first places it should go to. I would still rather see lower taxes and people having to pay for it themselves though.

Actually the last time anyone bothered to measure the relative quality of different nation's healthcare, which was back in 2000 to be fair, America was 31st.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Health_Organization_ranking_of_health_systems_in_2000

Things might have improved since due to Obamacare, although it has been applied very inconsistently due to obstinate conservative state governments around the country. I'm not saying Obamacare is good or anything, just that it would have likely improved the ranking.

We are very good at treating diseases that most other countries do not have to deal with as much because our system encourages people to ignore their health until they can no longer instead of preventative medicine, which is both more effective and cost efficient. Profit motive for the many hands that make money in our enormous private healthcare industry certainly has something to do with this.

lol, australian doctor here - I've worked with a few American surgeons who've come out to work here. I would say that their training in terms of procedures is average, their clinical reasoning/diagnosis skills poor, and their clinical decision making ranges from poor to catastrophic

I'll give you a typical example of what I've experienced working with American surgeons:

About a year ago we had an end-stage bowel cancer patient, aged 85(ish?) years. Man just wanted to stay at home and die with his wife, he had only a week or two (MAXIMUM) left to live. American surgeon insists on operating, tells the patient there is a chance we can save him (there was absolutely none), patient dies in agony 3 days post-surgery spending the whole time in hospital, hardly got to see his wife at all in his last days.

And that is EXTREMELY typical of the American attitude to this trade. That you automatically think American doctors are the best without requiring any evidence to believe so makes you incredibly brainwashed.

Only very rarely do people actually get their tuition covered by scholarships/financial aid. Those things only go so far. So while it may be excessive to pay for ALL tuition for students, at least some money could be going to public universities to cover tuition costs.
>>
>>677339362
Yeah because no other country on earth could possibly achieve accessible education.

Problem in the US is the label "free". It's not free, it's just easier to obtain, meaning more people take advantage. The more educated people you have, the more jobs there will be and productivity.

Americunts don't understand the concept.

"i work hard blah blah blah, I shouldn't pay for someone else blah blah blah. Murica, fuck yeah."

Remember how America passed a GI bill after WWII? Remember how many of them went to school practically for "free". Remember how that generation had low crime rates and high productivity?

No because your A. Too young B. Fear mongering is everything for Americunts so it makes them retarded.

We have excellent low-cost Unis.

The problem we're having is that upwards of 70% of people are attempting college. With that much demand, you'd be hard pressed not to have sky-high prices.

Community Colleges (2 yr programs) are almost free.

State Colleges & Unis are reasonably priced.

When you hear shit like "young people are going six figures into debt for college" what you should hear are "people who can't get into State schools, and frankly have no business in college, are racking up debt at private schools eager to take their money."

>>677341640
So do common property rights, like what you have under communism.

Not only that but under democracy the government does, in varying degrees, represent the interests of the public. Corporations solely have the interest of their shareholders. Capitalism inevitably leads to a concentration of power and resources which leads to little better than a monopoly on land being held by corporate interests.

All this should be fairly obvious.

Actually the media are shameless cheerleaders for collectivist programs.

Where we get afraid of programs are generally drawn from our everyday lives where we see private companies serving us hands down better than gov't.

I'm all for subsidized education
- top 20% get full bachelor degree subsidized
- Top 40 get 2 yrs Community College

Now if someone not in the top 20% wanted to go to a 4 year college, let him pay for it himself.

Most intelligent people would not disagree that government and taxation are nessecary in some form, where people disagree is in how far and how much each should exist. The United States was meant to be a form of democracy (whether or not it truly is a separate matter of discussion). Under the ideas of democracy it is up to the majority of the common citizens to place those guidelines upon the government, most of what you described is generally accepted to be for the greater good of society and very few people would want that taken away, however when it comes to extending what the government has jurisdiction over and how they plan to pay for people have many differences of ideology where the democratic portion of the government comes in, the people, with their ideas challenged and refined through what should be free debate, then get to vote and decide how and if the government is expanded or contracted to best suit the needs of society

It's literally what communism is, if you more than just superficially aware of communism you would know this and know that there has never been a succesful implementation of communism. All so called communist government have been socialist, in some, more recent cases term soft communism. Which was explained by Marx and the necessary period inbetween capitalism and communism.

The government only enters into bed with corporations when there is an extreme concentration of power in both the governement and the market.

And no, corporatism is capitalism, its is capitalism in late 20th/ early 21st century democracies, within our social model it is how capitalism could and would only exist.

You're probably right. But also, if everyone has a university degree, everyone is educated to a higher standard, so some companies may actually consider employing Americans again.

Of the people who are not getting degrees right now:

Most will do some useless garbology qualification. Their lives will improve a little bit though as a result.

Some will drop out. Their lives will improve too because they will learn something about failing.
Some will start companies which benefits a number of people.

Some will actually contribute to human knowledge through completing a PhD. Everyone benefits.

>Option B
You don't pay for college, you get a degree, get a job, get paid, and have to pay for other people's college

So either way you'll be getting fucked in the ass by authority sooner or later. By voting Bernie or Trump you're choosing weather to be getting fucked in that you're paying a stranger to decide how you'll spend your personal time, or you're choosing to paying the government an amount of your hard earned cash which will then be donated and hopefully spent well but you don't have control over that

Yes, I know what Communism is, I've read the manifesto a few times, and have spent a good chunk of time thinking about it. And there hasn't ever been a "successful implementation of Communism": because Communism can't make it past the step (which Marx did in fact write in advocacy for) where their is a strong, centralized government which distributes the resources and acts as the intermediary between the state society to the stateless. This never works because no organization ever gives up that absolute power.

And yes, that's true: which is what we live in now. Almost all US politicians are on the payroll of major, multinational corporations like monsanto, exxonmobil, disney, etc. and assist them to stamp out any competition within the free market, giving the crony capitalist a monopoly.

Corporatism is not capitalism: Corporatism is the merging of state and corporate power, while capitalism operates outside of the state level. The issue we face today isn't really with Capitalism and Communism, as both can work on smaller scales. (despite me personally not wanting to live in a Communist society neither big nor small.) Globalism is the true issue we face, which is where corporatism stems from.

I would much rather pay a bit more tax to live in an educated country instead of complaining every day that my peers are faggots.

Pros:
More niggers will become educated, evolving into actual humans

No (or much less) college debt. Sucks for those who feel "proud" to have 100k student loans

A better educated (and college debt-free) workforce will put much more money back into the economy

Other shit

Cons:
You can't brag about how much debt you're in because of how "hard" you worked for your education

A bit more taken out of your paycheck. Weird how vocal we all are about not wanting our taxes to go towards higher education, yet we say nothing about how much tax money is wasted in the government

As for the decrease in quality, you would have a large influx of students to the same number of teachers which cause a decrease in the ability of teachers to ensure all students are learning the materials, causing them to either spend more time on grading papers exams and other assignments or decreasing the frequency and severity of them lower what a student learns.

At least one smart and observant person ITT.
I'll add to that, people CHOOSING the six figure debt because they want to go to a big name college, thinking that will mean fast track to big company C level job. Why actually be smart, work hard, and do a good job when you can just get by for 4 years then rest on your laurels?

Mostly though, people racking up the debt on degrees we already have an oversupply of.

Free university likely wouldn't mean more people going through university. If anything, that would probably coincide with the gov controlling available spaces in uni pretty tightly, trying to match it to what the demand is. Those that want a degree that isn't in high demand and aren't a top candidate will find themselves either going private anyway or not getting that degree at all. Any of you have folks or grandparents who lived in a Societ controlled country? Ask them how it worked. You are TOLD what you are gonna go into. If you are naturally very good at something there is sufficient need for, you'll go (or if your parents are ranking party members), otherwise you'll be given a couple other choices, or a third choice of steel mill or mining.

More to the point, we need less people with degrees. Waste of $ half the time. What we could use is more financial help for students who maybe aren't A+ superstars but still a good candidate for a valuable degree, instead of someone LESS capable taking his or her spot cause their parents have more money. That's not particularly fair to their parents who worked hard or smart to make that money mind you.

Honest question guys:

Why are conservatives such huge assholes?

Whenever someone proposes a new way of doing things, or puts a new idea on the table, or even suggests a new course of action, their first reaction isnt "How will this benefit the society that I live in, and make life better for my fellow citizens?"

Nope. Their first reaction is always: "How is going to affect me?". "Why should I pay for this?" "How much is this going to cost ME.?" Me, me, me, me, me....

It's like they live in a fucking bubble where their actions DONT affect the lives of others, and the lives of other's don't affect theirs. Anything they've succeeded at, and they are constantly self-praising. They feel like one helped them. Directly, nor indirectly. They succeed in a bubble where no one else exists.

Someone else failed? Well, it must be because they didn't try hard enough. Or maybe they don't want to succeed as much as they did. "They are lazy".

Seriously, conservatives are hands down the most egotistical, selfish, narcissistic, dick-waving, and delusionally self-important people that walk the planet. They would rather the Earth burn than have to build a level-playing field for everyone. Even if it costs them their own livelihood.

Is there any way we can breed that asshole nature from their genes somehow? Maybe created some kind of conservative vaccine for babies, so they don't turn into GIANT FUCKING ASSHOLES as adults?

What is the cause of this fucking disease in humans? Anyone know?

/rant.

We have good (NOT the best) healthcare, but preventative care is fucking abysmal in the U.S.

funny enough we've done that under a capitalist system, yet repubs claim that this is supposed to be the system that produces superior people, and libs claim that more of the same is the better answer. ffs it doesn't even make sense. people seem to forget that we're fucked no matter what system we're under cause people fucking suck and they'll screw up anything.

I can apply blanket statements to groups, as well. Not all conservatives are backwater bumpkins who don't believe in climate change or social progression.

If you get a useful degree it does. Now liberal studies, art, gender studies and other garbage degrees you would be right.

Drug testing has not been shown to produce any improvement in quality of life.

Welfare programs are good if you want to remain dependent upon welfare.

You've assumed that a fully funded system would have the same lack of oversight the current capitalist system has in place - where literally anyone who wants to sign up for a loan gets a degree. That's not how it works in any other place with free university education.

1) no such thing as free
2) free community college: giving something away that was worthless to begin with
3) lets say for a moment, they they give you a degree from an actual worth while institution (like Harvard), then all that will do is devalue Harvard degrees.
4) In reality all that free community college will do is enslave poor people forcing them to go to college with virtually no benefit.
That last point is important, so I will explain it a bit better, because we are not all proficient in economics.

Right now, if you have a college degree, you have something MORE than if you did not go to college. This gives leverage to those that pony up the bucks to go to school over those that do not. However, If you give away college degrees and make them available for everyone, then having a college degree would be expected, absolutely devaluing college degrees, but instead leaving those without one tantamount to a highschool dropout. So, instead of empowering poor niggers and giving them the ability to write their own check to any company that they want, instead if they don't do the extra 2-4 years worth of extra schooling, then they would be worse off than they are now.

I think the insult to injury is that college has long since been worthless. If you have the drive, passion, and ability to make your own company, then you will make vastly more than being a wage slave for others. If we really wanted to help out the poor, we would teach them how to make a business and how not to be a lazy nigger, than making them waste their time by going to school, to learn how to work for other people.

This pretty much sums up my point here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kC_RYgkkmcM

Tecnical superiority in healthcare means jack shit if only 1% of the population can enjoy it. get you head out of your ass.
