He's not my direct boss.
He's my mentor in the sense that he's a more established dude in my organization I really relate to and talk to regularly. We meet informally for coffee once a week and talk about life (broadly, not just work, on a personal level) for two hours usually, and we can always go to each other for consultation/advice/listening.
