Lies Trump has told or reiterated in the past month alone:

-Overstated the trade deficit with China by $130 billion.
-Overstated the trade deficit with Japan by $31 billion dollars.
-Said unemployment was probably 28 or 29 percent. Maybe as high as 42 percent. The BLS's U6 measure of unemployment (which includes discouraged workers as well as those employed in part time work for economic reasons) is about 10%. Even if we assume that labor participation should be at historic highs (i.e. more people should be working or looking for work), the number doesn't even get to 20%.
-Said health care costs were going up by 35-55 percent. Premium costs haven't averaged more than 13% in the past 20 or so years.
-Inflated the death toll due a specific ISIS event by a factor of 10.
-Reiterated that immigrants are contributing to a crime wave. Crime is at historic lows in the United States.

Tell me your dumbass reasons for supporting this fear-mongerer who is exploring your insecurities to seize power.

Unemployment is far higher than numbers put out. It was close to 22 percent when you add in people who are not actively looking for jobs.

American healthcare did go up with obamacare, sort of. You got less bang for your buck, so equivalent coverage costed MORE.

Illegal aliens can actively commit crimes, and it does not mean that as a nation we arent decreasing. A small demographic such as that is almost insignificant if all other groups are still dropping.

In short you literally sound like some tumblr faggot shilling here.

The thing is that socialism doesn't work. Sure capitalism is flawed and could adopt some socialism but honestly it's not a good idea to have the us be socialist, too many people here, it just wouldn't work. Bernie is a nice guy but socialism is based on the premise of "it's possible". So does communism, it just assumes that everyone will pay for taxes, it just assumes that Americans will pay more for needless shit. Communism assumes that everyone will be equal, and that everything will be perfect, yet somehow China has billionaires. It's technically impossible to rise to the top with communism and harder with socialism. Capitalism is like natural selection, it fucking works.

>Unemployment is far higher than numbers put out. It was close to 22 percent when you add in people who are not actively looking for jobs.

Already addressed this with the bit about labor participation. Even if you're one of these labor participation hawks who thinks it oughta be like, 70% or some reason, the number still doesn't get past 20%. Trump said 28 or 29. Maybe 42%. Bunk bunk bunk.

Total healthcare expenditures (which are an even better proxy for healthcare cost than premiums) have gone up by between 6-7 percent annually since 2000s. Not 35, not 45, not 55.

Yes, illegal aliens can commit crimes. Thanks for that. It's pretty much a non-issue though. Just like ISIS. American death tolls from terrorism are laughably low.

Call me more names though. I'm sure that will make you look really smart this time.

>The thing is that socialism doesn't work.

Arguments like this are kind of funny to me. It presupposes that capitalism both exists and works without being tampered with.

In fact, the world will never have pure socialism nor capitalism. It's always a mix of things.

For example, the very money that you use is not based on a free market. The laws that govern various regulations are not driven by politicians per se, but are usually co-authored between mega corporations and lawmakers.

Big banks did not achieve their authority by merit (e.g. capitalism), but are invested in by the government.

We can't have no minimum wage because the market forces that exist are fettered. We can't really have socialism because corporations and other large entities muddy the waters of control.

We can't have shit. Theories of this and that break down in practice.

Greenland is what you are referring to. It does have one of the highest suicide rates in the world. Technically though, it's part of North America, it's just politically and culturally it has been tied to Scandinavia for centuries. The high suicide rates have nothing to do with politics though, and everything to do with the fact that it is a very bleak, frozen wasteland, that doesn't offer citizens much to occupy themselves with beyond heavy drinking.

Japan and South Korea also have extremely high suicide rates, and both are Capitalist.

Do you have a number from a source that uses more comprehensive methods and more accurate definitions than the Bureau of Labor Statistics? Care to share with the class?

Barring that, what is your estimate of unemployment? Make a wild guess and I'll explain why you're wrong.

BTW the claim of "small sample sizes" is almost always bullshit.

Which is totally irrelevant for this conversation, though I do agree Glass-Stegal needs to be reinstated.

Also, do you even know what a CDS is? It's insurance on a security. What you are thinking of is securitized products like MBS, ABS, CLOs and CDOs. Also, that doesn't even come close to explaining what happened. Basically what happened was the MBSs were toxic, but the banks didn't know that. If they did they wouldn't have held onto such large quantities of the securities. What happened next was the economy slowed down (as it does, it's cyclical), so now people who were barely able to pay their mortgages (subprime borrowers) were no longer able to. Therefore they defaulted meaning that no more money was going to the MBSs, but because home values were so inflated in 2003-2006 when the mortgages were created, the banks weren't able to sell them for what they were supposed to be worth. As a result anyone who held onto the MBSs et. all got screwed (including the banks that were holding them). This caused some banks to go under, which hurt the economy more, thereby causing a vicious cycle. Saying it's Wall Street's fault illustrates a total lack of understanding of the nuances of finance. It's easy to look at the rich douchebags at Goldman Sachs and say "yeah, those are the bad guys," but it really isn't accurate. That's my gripe with Sanders. He uses Wall Street as a boogeyman just like Trump uses muslims.

That's called a bubble and it was caused by the Federal Reserve. They created the stock market bubble in 2000 which collapsed and They then reinflated another bubble but this time in housing. The government created the problem and they are trying to create another right now with near 0% interest rates. I suspect auto sales are in a bubble. A lot of broke motherfuxkers with new cars.

>These banks gobbled the loans up without looking at them, thry deserved everything that happened.
Except for the part where they got bailed out and then it was business as usual.

Yes, people shouldn't take out loans they can't afford, but the reason banks charge interest is because they take on counterparty risk. They're on the hook if the borrowers default. They should have done better underwriting. Fact is though that they purposely did bad underwriting because they were going to package the loans and resell them anyway.

Moody's and S&P gave the bonds the stamp of approval without a second though.

Investment banks created the derivative investments that allowed these loans to be traded.

And we pay these clowns a fortune and promote them to positions of power and influence.

>the banks knew they were doing high risk shit, and they were taking on higher and higher risk for more and more money
You literally just described one of the fundamental tenets of finance. More risk = more compensation. The securities were no supposed to be that risky. Higher tranches in MBSs (for instance) were supposed to be very low risk because you'd still be paid back even if ~70% of the loans in the pool were defaulted on. The problem is that nobody knew they were as risky as they were.

> do you honestly think someone who makes millions, especially a fucking (probably greedy) businessperson is going to use their own money to save their sinking company?

No, but they are accountable to the shareholders. Therefore, they don't want to fuck up the company they work for.

> you should watch the documentary "inside job"
