Does money really buy happiness, /b/?

>>660408153
Happiness comes from within. Money helps you suffer on a better side of town.
>>
>>660408153
No matter how much money he has, he will be unhappy because he's a Jew. He only covets more and more.
>>
I'd rather cry in my lambo than my civic
>>
>>660408153
I think the sweet spot is $150k per year for an individual, $200k per year for a couple with no kids, and $300k per year for a family of 4. This allows you to have a comfortable lifestyle free from financial worries. After that it doesn't buy you anymore happiness.

Money can buy happiness, but it can't fix sadness.

That's how I like to think of it.
>>
>>660408838
studies have been made in a similar vein...there is a definite numerical limit before it becomes excessive and no longer contributes to life-wellness
>>
>>660408153
it doesn't. and it's stupid to think like that.
but too much money causes way too many problems just like too few money.
>>
>>660408838
where'd you get that from? lsast study I read it was $75K
>>
>>660408838
yes, because cost of living is the same everywhere
>>
>>660409201
Yeah, if I was single and making $150k per year I'll be happy. I could travel, buy a nice house, and save for retirement.
>>
>>660408153
It can, indirectly.
>>
>>660408153
Oh no, some millionaire Jew looks sad because someone took a picture of him in public.

I'm sorry he has to run back to his mansion and live like a king because he can never be a "normal person". My heart goes out to him because he never has to worry about bills.
>>
>>660409487
Unless you're living in NYC or the Bay Area, these are very reasonable figures. But if you are living in those areas, you probably aren't happy with your life anyway.
>>
No, unless you misinterpret So, you say it does, because without money, you cannot be happy. Let's assume for a moment that it is true - actually, mostly it is. So, "money buys happiness". It means: "with money, you have happiness". What you state is: "with money, you have happiness", because "without money, you don't have happiness". That's around as wrong as stating that without food, you die, but with food, you survive even if you don't breathe.

$75k is not that much no matter where you live. When I first hit $75k I thought wow, but then after taxes, I realized I couldn't even afford to buy a decent house.

money is just a temporary fix, it wares off and your left unhappy again. true, real love and happiness can't be bought for any amount but only earned.
>>

I could buy a starter house outright in Louisiana for 60k, buy a brand new sedan for 30k, Pay my property taxes for the rest of my life, etc. Enjoy being fourteen while it still lasts, you're fucking dreamers. It's a long ride to the middle at $15 an hour if you're lucky.

Happiness is bullshit. You fucking stuff your face, fuck over your friends, accumulate more shit you don't need, fuck a lot of girls, have shit load of kids, then you fucking die alone with shit load of debts. That's what life is. Happiness is how easily you accomplish the above without being a complete and utter emotional fag about it.
>>
>>660408153
technically no, but you can trade it for stuff that does make you happy

I make $120k per year you hipster. I rather have enough for a down payment for a nice house, max out my 401k, afford nice things, and eat out a few times a week.
>>
For some people it can buy temporary happiness. It's impossible to make certain people happy. It all depends on the person.

being yourself and being able to afford living expenses guarantee happiness. otherwise no, money itself cannot buy happiness, especially if it depends upon you 'selling your soul' (being untrue to yourself).

i am happy on my meager earnings which annoys many unhappy(but wealthy) people. it is like they look down on my simply for not earning six figures and try to belittle what i do or how i live in order to somehow justify themselves.

Money buys things that make you happy or can at least buy things for people that make you happy.

Yea sure some people find happiness in meek lifestyles but even then the still need money to be happy to put a house over their head and do the things they like.

Next year im looking at over 150k solo and id rather it be 500k. Why because I like to do shit and I wanna retire early.

If you want to buy a yacht and have parties on it, or go jet skiing with friends, or get bottle service at nightclubs, buy nice cars you are going to need money. I understand these things dont make every one happy but they do for me. Ergo I need money to be happy.

The minimum wage rate in 2009 was $7.25 per hour or $15,080 for the 2080 hours in a typical work year. Among those paid by the hour, 1.6 million earned exactly the prevailing federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour. About 2.0 million had wages below the federal minimum. Together, these 3.6 million workers with wages at or below the federal minimum made up 4.7 percent of all hourly paid workers.

So I was quite disturbed yesterday after posting in a thread here at /b/ and wanted to see what others think.

I grew up poor, and watched my parents get ass raped by the "free market" capitalist system in the USA. I never forgot watching how hard they worked and how they never got anywhere, and as a result I made it my mission to no long be a victim of the bullshit shell game we call capitalism. I'm a white male, and knew if I wanted to work for the Federal Government I would need some way of overcoming "affirmative action" so I joined the Army and made sure I did all I could to get an early discharge with a "service connected" disability which got me 10 point veteran's preference for hiring, thus giving me an advantage over minorities and women. I also knew a Bachelor's degree was required for a decent job in the Government. So as soon as I got out of the Army I got my BA with a 2.0 GPA and applied for any Federal Government job. That was almost 20 years ago. I now make $80,000 a year from my job, and another $10,000 a year in disability pay. I mention all this b/c some /b/ros here went ape shit when they heard about my plans, and how I went about avoiding the meat grinder of capitalism. - My question - is why are so many btards "mad" at me for this? Is it b/c they're jealous? I think it's a pretty smart plan, and am currently grooming my kids to do the same thing. Why should they work like a dog for some rich fuck and never have a good life? Am I missing something here? Pic related. It's basically me all day long at my job. I literally do nothing but watch videos on youtube all day long. I can't even remember the last productive thing I did at work. But it's not my fault my supervisor allows it.

If you have lived poor, money will make you happier because that money will eaqual things and actions you missed growing up, new experience, new opportunities, its exciting of course you will get happier.

If you always had money, it wont give you extra happiness, its your everyday life being rich, nothing special, its routine. Then things you normally don't buy will make you happier, having fun for free, falling in love, helping others out.

Humans are weird. They always need more but not more of the same thing. When we reach 1 desire we spawn another and so forth and so on.

English is not my native language and this opinion comes from poorfag (me). Take it or leave it.

right, it sucks the fact that i could be making more with little more of experience, but im expecting the things to get better next year, but what amaze/shock me the most is that we live in a country full of opportunities and lazy ass entitled idiots that refuse to make their way to them

Do the math. You wont find a retail job that will start you off over $11 per hour and work you 40 hours per week.

>>660417939
Yet I have more free time than you, who's going to really live longer?

>>660417895
Yeah? Cool! It's not that uncommon.

Where are you living with an appreciated currency and such high median income?
>>

you could also ask if meal tickets fill your stomach up. they don't do it directly but under some circumstances they can do it indirectly.

but there are many situations when they can't bring u food in any way.

money is no resource, energy or information. but its a very versatile way to get all this stuff.

but to return on your question:

at first you have to know whar exactly makes you happy. somethings you can't buy with money but u can reach it easier or at all with money.

and if the money makes you directly happy you may have a wierd passion for collecting or a serious personality disorder^^

300k a year, if you are the pilot type, will get you access to some fairly high powered airplanes.

I'm don't earn very much money. I could if I want to (double major in two engineering fields from top school, pursuing masters degree in cs from top program) but I'm currently working for cheap in research in an area that really interests me. Im learning constantly, I have a good deal of free time, and I'm close to my family and friends. I'm pretty happy.

I think too many people mistake the phrase "money doesn't buy happiness" for "don't be good at anything useful and find happiness in your own mediocrity".

Money isn't a prerequisite for happiness, but feeling fulfilled with your life and choices is, and that usually correlates with the ability to make money if you want to.

Dude that guy is the pimpest of most pimps that have ever fucking lived on the history of the planet.

He has banged (no shit)
Every single girl who has ever been deemed hot by other people.
And most likely taken pictures of it and stashed it away.
Unfortunately he most likely sucked a lot of dick (took multitudes of dicks up his anus) to get that way in his younger years.
