We want x alone so move the 4x from the right to the left. To move over from one side of the equation to another multiply by - 1.

Southern cali here public school. They offered Alg 1 in 7th grade, Geo 8th, Alg2 9th, Function/stats/trig 10, Pre-calc/calc/ap calc your choosing 11th and 12th. Most kids stopped with alg 2 as it was only required to graduate whil some kids took AP calc 11th grade to get college credit and just took 1 less class senior year and got out early every day.

But yea how did you take other classes like Chem/physics/Econ without at least algebra in high school.
