Funny, that correlation between poor diet and cancer rates.

Obviously we need to blame the big company providing cheap and sustainable food crops for our inability to put down the fork.
>>
Unbiased here.

Monsanto does things people believe to be morally wrong and things for the betterment of their own company. They try to gain as much as they can financially as any company should. They produce all sorts of agriculture products, most famously crops and crop chemicals. They create GMOs to produce crops who are better, stronger, faster, sweeter, tastier, use less water, grow faster, than other crops. They sell said crops to farmers at high prices as customers are picky and with crops, the need is to minimalize losses. They get farmers to get in deals, make sure they cant reuse their crop without paying or permission, etc etc. People get upset at this despite it being Monsantos products. To get back people claim GMOs are bad, that Monsanto is unfair and trying to control agriculture. Monsanto wants its products, which by the way cost millions of dollors to produce including making sure they are safe and good enough to be distributed, which is why they have high price tags on their stuff. Their GMOs and such are also one of kind, it takes years and years of research and testing and red tape to be able to get a GMO able to be sold. They do not want their customized products to be taken and reused without repurchasing, because a farmer could buy a seed once, and never pay for it again and distribute that seed himself and make even more profit off of it. No one wants their product to be given out for free with so much overhead cost. Monsanto is like the music industry of agriculture. Thats not to say they are not unfair, because they do try to pimp out farmers, but thats only because the law allows them to. Their GMOs can be a bit questionable, but that is an issue of the FDA and the government. Most GMOs will not cause any adverse effects as techincally all organisms are GMOs. Its the lack of fully understanding what has been affected in the organism that is the questionable
>>
>>614216692
Monsanto genetically modifying grain seeds is dangerous because it gives them ability to become a global monoply. Why? Because if they "invented" the seeds, then they can patent them, and because they already have such a huge market share they'd instantly become a global monopoly and have nearly complete control over the worlds food supply. Think about it, having a patent on food.

part. As genetics gets iffy in where you modify the organism, and believe that X causes Y, but with any modification of an organism, the changes are never really 100% certain. So X may give you Y but you may also get Z after some factor unforeseen in testing. People should not be afraid of GMO's or Monsanto. Having stronger regulation of both and transparency for farmers is what is needed. And if people werent so fucking picky with their foods, farmers wouldnt be in this pickle.

TLDR; Monsanto is a company, companying, and farmers are farmering

Pesticides are known to be the causes of cancerous growths, not produce. They of course contain toxins harmful to living organisms, eat enough pesticide and it will adversely affect you. Its the cost of removing pests from produce.

Show me journals and studies of this please.

And monsanto is obviously going to try and keep labelling out of stores because their stock would plummet, the farmers who buy their GMOs would all turn to more "natural" products because the farmers wont make money from the tin foil hat wearing citizens that see GMO and run away.

From what I've come to understand is that Monsanto makes gmo seeds, and if these seeds are carried by the wind into someone else's farm and ends up growing that farmer owes Monsanto for the right to use their seed otherwise they can be sued.

Since the gmo seed can thrive better in poor soil it has a greater ability to grow, so one seed can put you entirely indebted to Monsanto if it's in your crop, and Monsanto being the farming congrlomerate they are can afford the legal backing to make sure that farmer goes full Monsanto.
>>

Genetically modifying foods isn't inherently evil. It's the patenting of naturally occurring genetic material that's fucked-up. Farmers next to monsanto owned-farms get sued all the time because monsanto owns a patent on a fucking plant. And then if any of those plants are found on an adjacent plot (due to, you know, NATURE AN SHIT) they sue the fuck out of the poor farmer who happens to be next to them. This often puts the farmer out of business and they sell their plot to monsanto.
That's a little of why they are evil.

Independence.

Monsanto literally lobbies to fluoridate the U.S. Water supply. Fluoride has been linked to hundreds of diseases and was first utilized in an attempt to make Jews more docile by nazi scientists.

They are buying land, planting gmo seed, spraying toxic chemicals, and those seeds are one time use. That means if they continue to control the food supply and drug the water supply people will continue to get sick.

Oh but obongo care will save em'!

GTFO shilling wort.

Read into something with the heart of a free man rather than idiotic money collecting.

Hell the false sense of pride is so overwhelming people would be dumb founded to conclude that one family owns every central bank and works closely with the other 200 maybe 300 families to maintain control.

What is: Monopoly money and Rothschild Zionism.

>>
>>614216692
Once you buy Monsanto seeds you are not legally allowed to use seeds grown from the plants you planted with the first batch of seeds. It's in their fine print.
So when a farmer buys seeds, plants crops and collects seeds from said crops to plant again. Monsanto comes in with lawyers and wrecks shop.

Cross pollination occurs in that a farm will have Monsanto grown plants, cross pollination causes a neighboring farm to wind up having some of Monsanto's "property" read genetic traits and feats of GMO product.
Monsanto then sues the farm claiming the farm is stealing their product. Lawyers come in and wreck shop.

Monsanto creates some variety of plants with a feature known as Terminator seeds, these plants produce seeds that cannot grow into new plants.
As such with cross pollination it is a potential threat to wipe out a plant population by creating a dead generation of seeds.
Fortunately every country I am aware of has banned the use of said seeds in food crops.

Some Monsanto varieties require their pesticides to be able to produce any yield at all, through cross pollination there is a risk of this spreading to other nearby farms and wiping out crops of farmers who use alternative or no pesticides.

There is a decent amount of research showing that pesticides targeting certain bacterium may well be the primary cause of Colony Collapse disorder in Bees. this is a huge problem and more research is needed to 100% confirm, but so far it seems likely.

The pesticides do cause a decent number of environmental problems including groundwater pollution.
>>

Not really, zealot.

I was merely stating that this is the way of business, retard

>Scenario 1: make food that is not so great, make a lot of profit
>Scenario 2: make food that is healthy, make less profit

What the FUCK scenario do you think companies will mostly choose?
>>
>>614220891
Yes it has. Some kinda of super wheat/soybean they designed accidentally was shipped to a farmer and they sued him/her for it.
>>
>>614220891
>>This has literally never happened.
It has. Litigation tactics for Monsanto include sending a team of strong-arms to check crops in and around the area for their patents, then identifying which places are inadvertently using their seeds because of seed migration and suing the shit out of them for infringement, even if the farmer doesn't know they have Monsanto seedcrops on their land.

I usually don't give a shit about corporate practices, because they're too well designed to fuck over competition and small business, but food corps are bastards when it comes to seed IP and litigation. Monsanto has lobbied to negate the practice of seed storing as well, because of the possibility that their seeds could be mixed in with non-GMO small farms' stores. They have some pretty fucking terrible methods of exacting a profit, which is why I feel terrible for anyone attempting to get into agriculture and farming. It's a lucrative business, but you're going to get fucked by the big agriculture companies at some point.

Lets start with how they killed so many military personnel with the so called safe 'agent orange' in Vietnam!
>>
Things that kill natural farming:
1. Over-nitration of the soil. High levels of nitrogen actually kill off the microbes that produce it naturally in the soil. Thus, requiring more nitrogen to be added artificially and making the problem worse and worse.

2. A number of FDA approved pesticides have been linked to "Colony Collapse Syndrome". Hence, CCS isn't actually a thing, it was always use of inappropriate pesticides that was killing bees.

3. Homogenization. When a species is homogenized, it becomes highly susceptible to diseases and other forms of predation by organisms exploiting a niche. Diversity of plants helps to naturally buffer these effects so that one plague doesn't wipe out an entire crop.
e.g: almost all banana crops nearly being wiped out by a fungus because there are only 1 or 2 commercial species

Guess what Monsanto does? ALL THREE

Monsanto has near-monopolistic control over certain crops. That alone is worrying, and when you pile on the patenting of genetic information and permanent licencing arrangements they impose on farmers, it's just plain a terrible company.

Science doesn't care about evil. Common sense cares about destroying farmland (you know, that thing we need to produce food).
>>
>>614216692

They are makign GMO's that sterilize plants. This controls farmers and is done only for profit. It means farmers cannot keep seed from year to year. Instead, they must buy new seed from Monsanto.

This is evila nd dangerous as shit because if all farms were using Monsanto seed, but they failed to produce new product, went out of business, or for whatever reason the copyrighted genes were made unavailable for public use ( A rich asshole could buy it then just not sell seed anymore.)

If any of that shit happens then, tada, no food.

I think the real question nowadays is:

How can you, as someone who isn't a expert on a given topic, properly form an educated opinion on said topic, when all sides are throwing out more research than you can reasonably work through, much less check if it's actually peer reviewed properly?
Add to that how many peer reviewed studies actually turn out to be bullshit and are paid for by someone with a financial interest in the outcome of the study.
How can you really be sure of anything you are taught besides self evident concepts? Not to mention propaganda, you know how everyone's always going on about how the Ruskies are telling lies? They say the same things about us. So who is right? I will never be able to verify either of these claims.
I'm too apathetic to become a conspiritard, but sometimes I wonder how many lies I have accepted as truth.

I took a couple of courses last semester with one professor who legitimately attempted to push Gaia theory as considerable fact, and another who was a counter-culturalist that thought all corporate entities existed to do evil, so we should all go work at some farm he had contacts with.

Neither of them agreed with the idea of profit making and didn't like to entertain financial arguments. They just wanted to talk about idealist theory. It has no effect on humans or animals. Round Up's active chemical is glyposate, which inhibits the enzyme ESPS synthetase in the Shikimate Acid Pathway of plants and bacteria for the inhibiton of de novo biosynthesis of aromatic amino acids such as Phenyalanine, and Tyrosine. Humans and Animals do not have the Shikimate Acid Pathway, and can not synthesize aromatic amino acids such as Phenylalanie, therefore Round Up has no place to act. Round Up Resistant crops are transgenic plants expressing a bacterial CP4 ESPS Synthetase Enzyme, which glyposphate can not inhibit, and thus are immune from Round Up, which ill kill weeds and pests trying to interfere with the plant to provide optimal growth.
