I'm not sure why Arin thought it'd be a good idea to put him on the spot. He doesn't know anything about videogames anyways. Like, don't get me wrong. He seems super cool, and his stories would be an amazing addition to an already established straight-man/fall-guy setup like Golden Grumps had, but him just trying to fill Jon's shoes is a formula that doesn't even begin to make sense.

I like the show as it is. I agree that I like it as a comedy podcast that I often love to have on while I multitask splitscreen, something like the grinding/afk-able portions of a game I enjoy otherwise. You don't have to watch the game unless it's a really-game-commentary-focused episode (like 1-offs). But if it's just unrelated story-time, then its great to just listen to and check the video when you hear "WOAH" or want to know why they are lost or just died in the game or something interesting.

I've always curious about the event because they had been such legitimate friends from what we could tell from 1 year of listening to the have fun gaming with us.
Then the lack of transparency as Jon was replaced and his title of Not-So-Grump unforgivingly reapplied to a very different partner - followed by a permanent silence and silencing about the issue from Arin was jarring.

I didn't dislike Arin for it, really. He wanted his show to continue and I'm glad it has, Dan made it a new show but still worth watching and an interesting guy and brought more legit sounding honest talk between Arin and a friend that we could listen to - even if they no longer made quite as hilarious commentary EVERY episode that they played and narrated over a game. But, instead, we were promised air time with nonstop personal stories and anecdotes, no matter how trivial, about them and the Steam Train crew. I still love that kind of episode, too. The one-offs and plenty of game choices brought great game-talk-and-footage, still, though.

I heard Jon's side of the story: that he wasn't going to talk about the breakup specifically, but there were some misunderstandings particularly with how GG handled it. Jon doesn't mind if people bring up the laughs / times from his GG time - but he did want to spend time and his own future on The JontronShow instead - even though single episodes take so long to make (and I think worth it, they're good). Arin censors.
