As much as everyone here shits on Aaron Kyro, his Braille skateboard tips on youtube are actually pretty decent.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XgjDhSnTtE

However, I was once in your position where I had just barely learnt how to ollie and was super keen to learn how to do all the gnarly tricks I could. It's a very common mistake that new skateboarders make. The greatest piece of advice I could give you would be to keep on riding and riding and riding. Just ollie all the time. Onto stuff. Off of stuff. Over stuff. As fast as you can. It's such a huge mistake trying too much too quickly. You will progress so much faster if you're comfortable on the board.
Honestly, just practice and master the ollie for the next 3 months before you start fucking around with flat ground tricks.

Skate 2's map easily beats Skate 3's by longshot for me. I hated that the Downtown section was way too spaced out, rails were usually super long like Jamie Thomas designed the damn things and pedestrians hung out at obstacle you're trying to skate if you took too long.

I guess if your trucks are still good but the bushings have blown out you can replace them. I guess it's all preference, but I don't think it will have a significant impact on your skating.

Skateboard isn't that complicated, you won't have any problems with building it.
Invest in trucks - you won't grind the shit out of them soon, so they will last you a long time.
Don't buy bearings more expensive than Bones Reds, they are enough.
When you choose parts, you know what you have. IMO its better to have good trucks and cheap blank deck than mediocre whole board.
>>
>>871548

'Silicone Spray', you can cop it at your local hardware store. Avoid something like 'WD-40', it leaves a thin film that attracts dirt. Whatever you buy, use it sparingly; a little bit goes a long way.

>>
>>872522
>Don't buy bearings more expensive than Bones Reds, they are enough.

Why you guys keep perpetuating this bullshit is beyond me. Bones Reds suck. They are cheap for a reason. They don't last very long. Their shields are so flimsy and warp easily. They tend to let dirt in and you end up cleaning them more often to get them rolling fast again, otherwise they sieze up and fall apart on you mid-session. There are tons of better bearings out there for around the same price. Hell, even their Super Reds are much better. You'll know the difference once you tried them. The materials and design are just better quality, especially the shields.

If your life is too easy and you need a near-constant source of disappointment and frustration then stick to Reds.
>>
>>873215
Instead of just complaining, reccomend something better to support your bitching.
>>
>>873215
Not that guy, but I usually use a set of reds for about two years and they perform well for pretty much their entire lifespan. I never use the shields and I also never bother to clean or lube them. They work just fine, bearings aren't a big deal. At all.

That would probably work best. It would be very awkward to have it based around skate contests. Something like K-On! with skating instead of light music would be cool.

focus on landing upside down, if you're afraid of landing. then flick slightly more and the board should slap up against your back foot, catch it land and roll away. give yourself a pat on the back
>>
>>876618
Flick out, not down.
>>
>>876618
Keep your shoulders square and don't let the board get too far in front or behind you.

Guys am I fucking retarded? I can land 1 out of every 50 attempts at a heelflip, cant kickflip at all, or hardflip, or 360 FS shuv....Yet I can land 360 hardflips 1 out of every 3 attemps, and i can consistently flip the board
>>
>>876880
Nah, you're just learning in your own way. Albert Nyberg did the same thing. Don't be ashamed and go your own path.

First off, wood anon, what do you know about Traffic skateboards. I like Ricky Oyola and I support the ethos of the brand but I want to know about the boards too.

do an ollie but just as you're dragging your front foot up, flick it out.
Honestly, you should think of kick flips and ollies as the same trick with the same timings and stance. That way you'll stay above the board and be able to land.

People hate longboards because they are easier to ride. Longboards are more practical for long distance. Only difference is size and wheel softness. Skateboard is more trick oriented. Longboard is for downhill speed.
>>
>>877582

I hate longboarders because the typical neckbeards who longboard have done what neckbeards do and tried to overcomplicate a piece of wood and 4 wheels. like those fuckin spider trucks or whatever they are called. Bombing hills on a skateboard is 10 times cooler because it's sketchy as fuck too.

In the end I couldn't give less of a shit if berra has involvement, I don't like the dude (and to an extent a lot of the berrics dudes) but it's not like he's going to take the funding and put it in to the new world order or some shit like people like to pretend. SOVRN just has some sick illustrators and nice stix shapes.
If not SOVRN, I would have gone for a Quasi or Killing Floor deck, but those are too hard for me to source for a reasonable price.

How the fuck do you commit? I can do so many fucking tricks, but I can only land them with 1 foot. The only "flip" tricks I can really do solidly are fakie shuvs. Heelflips, treflips, laserflips, nollie varial flips, etc. I can flip consistently as fuck, and I consistently land with the same 1 foot in the same fucking spot, and its pissing me off

Film yourself to see into you're doing anything wrong, don't be scared of falling, stay with the board no matter what, be confident as fuck because you can't get street soiled tees by being scared.
>>
>>878178
Yeah. I only been there three or four times before it was bulldozed but everytime was fun and the people there were cool.
>>
>>878180
This. Skateboarding's best kept secret is that it doesn't actually hurt to fall.

It actually does, but not until you go inside and sit down really. And that's when you have you're at skate bf to give you a massage in a hot tub. :3
>>
>>878180
>stay with the board no matter what
Yeah, unless you're really unlucky and get hit in the face, your board (which probably weighs less than 10 pounds) isn't going to do anything crazy. Don't wind up being afraid of it.

>>878251
>This. Skateboarding's best kept secret is that it doesn't actually hurt to fall.

Also true, but it does suck more to fall when it's cold :(

Can someone explain me skaters attetude to big companies and hating on nike?
I think all this was explained in one of south park episode about family cofee house.
Nike make great shoes I had vans and globe they didn't serve me as long as a worn off kostons which my friend had given me.
Skater explain me is Nike a real problem and something bad for skateboarding?
I see only positive things of such support and attention.
ps Sorry for mistakes I'm russian
>>
>>878567
I like Nike. They are able to support a significant amount of skaters, both popular and unknown. Nike also does nice things for skating, like buying the LA courthouse ledges. Nike supports Pete Spooner and Phillip Schwartz, my favorite skate film producers, I think that's rad. Their shoes are pretty solid as well, my favorite pair of skate shoes is probably these Janoskis I used to have, they fit me perfectly.

you guys should drop the high school mentality on longboard/skateboard rivalry shits annoying. yes there are faggots who longboard. there are faggots who skate regular boards too. I started out longboarding garages and downhill and I love skateboarding transition, I also have a lot of respect for street. they're both fun in there own way, longboards do things shortboards can't and vice versa. I have friends who skate both and I've met some really cool skaters in both scenes. it's not a dick measuring contest were all doing this shit for fun/ as a way of life. and I know there are a lot of casuals/kooks who just cruise on longboards but so what??If they aren't bothering you leave them alone, they either progress or stop eventually.
>>
>>878700
on one hand, you are right about following your passion. And it's true that several companies produce longboards too.
Personally, I like tricks. Which in the hybrid era of the early 80s, would make me a "poseur" or a "kook", since "tricks" was back then a illicit term. It was about flowing and maneuvering in the bowls.

But on the other hand, you can bomb hills with a skateboard. So I don't think the
>longboards do things shortboards can't
part of your post is true.
>>
>>878687
I actualy don't . I just wanted to know, why it considered as something bad.
As I expected it just a way of showing off for nonconformist teenagers.
>>
>>878567

jerry hsu kinda nailed it with how impersonal nike was with getting skaters and it was all about getting names for the brand.

I don't shit on longboards. It's just an entirely different sport to skateboarding so it's kind of pointless to talk to skateboarders about longboarding in a skateboard thread.

its the same reason people hate the Yankees.
They can buy the team members they wants, they just throw money at riders. people accuse them of basically jumping into a non-mainstream market and buying their way to the foreground because they can.

>>878567
>>
>>878824

It's called a skateboard 'braj' and yes you can, you can do anything you want thats the beauty of skating.
>>
>>878567

Nike doesn't care for its skaters in the way other companies do, they see them as simply names to push product. If you need an example look at how Nike have treated every skater who has got a shoe after janoski. They don't let riders design unique shoes any more because that shoe made Stefan so much money instead of Nike. Look at Ishod and grant taylors pro shoes, all existing nike shoes so all the money goes to nike.
>>
>>878904
What are you on about, man? Stefan did not design his own shoe.

Financially, Nike riders most definitely get bigger paychecks than the pros on skater-owned brands. Paying royalties for pro model shoes is a mutual agreement, I'm sure that both Ishod and Grant negotiated with Nike before settling at a price that they were comfortable with. Janoski's current situation, with the whole deal about accepting a one-time lump sum instead of royalties, is mutually beneficial to both Nike and Stefan. Nike no longer has to worry about royalties for Janoskis (which, like you said, were astronomically high) and Stefan gets a huge chunk of change (that he thinks is an acceptable amount) to invest/do whatever with.
