repost from /his/
anyone who is into hema (historical european martial arts)
and has some experience with weapons ?
In short my gf does hema and since her birthday is coming up I want to give her a sharp bastard sword that doesn't fall apart and looks nice.
or a really good looking one hander (maybe a saxon sword since it's related to her country more)
Where could I get one ?
Any swords you can recommend ?

Where are you from (roughly) and what is your price range?
Everyone wants to say Albion but the pricing is pretty prohibitive.
>>846154
yurop
300-450 USD
ofc less would work too
if it is something like a good looking gladius
>>846160
You describe her as being into HEMA more than anything so do you think she wants a HEMA related sharp that mine tie in with her training like a longsword, arming sword if she likes sword and buckler, messer?
So you know what she does in particular?
>>846165
yeah she practices a lot mainly with a longsword but collects/uses them for cutting tests too
so anything would work I think
but she has a passion for rome, local history (saxons and norse swords) and bastard swords
>>846165
sorry pressed submit too fast
in particular it would come down to :
2h sword sparring
cutting tests
collecting (roman, saxon, nordic 1h swords and medieval 1,5-2h swords)

If the Tag says battle ready, they are regulation blunted and can be sharpened at your local blacksmith
>>846176
thanks a lot, any manufacturers I should prefer over others ?
>>846190
Hanwei is cheapest shit, Del Tin is midramge, don't worry about Albion, unless you are Oprah rich
>>846192
thanks found a bunch that seem interesting mainly from deepeeka windlass and coldsteel
>>846194
Whatever you can afford man
>>846190
Cheaper and better would be to order from eastern european smiths, they make great quality in your price range, but they usually need a couple months to process orders.

Do they deliver to Europe? Because I don't think so.
>>846198

P.S. Swords are really personal, not just the aesthetics, a good sword just fits you, size, balance, weight, you like the feel of it. So double check before you order.
As a rule of thumb, a double handed European weapon should be lengthwise somewhere between the belly button height and the nipples of the owner, most like closer to nipple height.
A single handed sword should be short enough so you can swing at your side and do not hit the ground when standing upright.

Completely out of your price range tier:

>>846223
I don't think in this case that matters at all. If it was a tournament feder then it's worth humoring but for a sharp that might never ever seen any cutting practice it really couldn't matter less.
>>846192
Del Tin sucks. Nice to see, but you can't do shit with it.

Go watch some Spandex man opera, faggot.

>>847757
Grasp as much as you want, this shit isnt a sport and you are literally discussing weapons
Take it to /k/ where it belongs
>>847761
Hey, you need ultratight spandex pants, baby oil and steroids for your 'sport', we need swords n shields and gauntlets.

Stick watching to your life-sized action figures act out "wrestling", faggot.
>>847761

Weapons for sport, not weapons for the sake of weapons.

>I got a big gun
>I got a small gun
>my gun is better than yours

For some reason I don't quite the finals. Sure it is on a high level, but somewhow the styles of Anders and Ties don't match well, at least aesthetically.
really nice action in the eliminations tough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vfRmv09cqI
Not sure if it's 100% related, but does anyone have a pdf of Street Sword? I wanna see if it's as bad as they say it is.
What would be a good shield to go with this /asp/?
Sadly the right handed one had ran out so i had to get the left handed version, should i change my stance?
Also what is the best shaped sword that will help me attract a girlfriend?
>>847847
I saw one once on Bullshido, but that was a couple years ago. Phil is not exactly that popular.
>>847842
I know you feel intimidated by real martial artists competing, but you don't need to lash out like this kid.
>>847842
Is that you in the pic? Did you try to join a HEMA club and get laughed out the door?
