UFC is a star manufacturing machine as a promotion. They cycle through a new batch every three years or so seemlessly, WWE could learn something from them about how to book pro wrestling because UFC have been doing a much better job at it for a literal decade.

I would agree with you on any other wrestler, but Phil Brooks is a weird one. He doesn't even want to talk about wrestling on his twitter (from what I can see). I seriously think he's done with it and would rather do something else if his UFC career fails.
When he left with the belt originally, he should have been gone for months on end until Mania season, perhaps even do a few appearances in ROH, NJPW, Etc. WITH the title to rub it in WWE's face in kayfabe.
It would have made for some great drama within WWE itself.
Then a surprise come back during Mania season, then at Mania for a unification match, giving him his main event itch that he wanted and plenty of time off to do whatever the fuck he wanted to do.
