The real reason is because WWE has droves of people who either work for them, or aspire to work for them, and are tasked with generating discussion and developing communities online. This online army of faux "fans" has recently realized that 4chan exists and has incorporated it into their astroturfing strategy.
On the one hand, you can't fault WWE marketing for doing this, they need to sustain their fake television program. Any business big enough will astroturf. They have the added benefit of there being legions of people who dream of becoming WWE writers. Some of these people will make it, most won't. But even those who won't are used by the WWE to run blogs, write fake news stories, and generate "discussion" in online forums.
This is the source of the situation you see on /asp/ today, and is the reason why EVERY web forum ALWAYS ends up with a separate board just for wrestling, to contain the WWE™ marketers shitposting. Other topics (even NFL, MLB, and others from /sp/) do not have an online army of unpaid-interns/semi-professional-writers/actual-WWE-employees tasked with creating "content" to make sure their "marks" remain obsessed with a television program that is quite literally the same thing week after week , year after year. They have to feel like there's something to it, and the astroturfers fake an organic community just like the wrestlers fake a fight.
You want to talk about wrestling? Talk about it at the bar with your friends while watching the match. If you need to talk about it in your free time you need to look in the mirror and grow up... Or go to one of the BAZILLION wwe forums that already exist.
But oh well. Wrestling fans are the lowest of the low. Their lives are so sad its hard to hate them, just pity. I use clover so I can pin the /asp/ topics that are unique and cool, and are sports I'd never hear about otherwise, and that way can avoid the children's television garbage.
