You don't make friends online, not really. It feels like you're being social but it lacks fundamental elements of a real friendship. Things like doing something spontaneous, meeting new people together, and sharing experiences. Most online socializing is simply your personal interacting with another's personal.

Make friends in real life first. Don't get sucked into living your life for a computer screen. It's a black hole. Seductive because it's easy, and tasty. But it lacks substance and is ultimately unfulfilling. It won't help you really grow, it will only keep you entertained.
