She's mentally sick and bipolar, so I know it's not really "her" when she hits me, but she still manages to bruise me up. I don't want to hurt her, and she's suicidal and easily depressed so I don't want to leave either.
are you sure she actually has these disorders or did she just tell you that?

Begin restraint measures - if she swings at you, grab her arm and refuse to let go until she calms down. DO NOT SWING BACK OR HIT HER, because then she might get the popo to back her. Plus it's wrong. Stick to restraining methods of self defense, like certain grips and holds and locks, and teach her she's going to just have to calm the fuck down.
