There are pharmacies and hospitals, and those are pretty much the only places to work other than fast food and retail
Should I self-study and take the Pharmacy Technician exam?

Well if you live at home, which is what it sound like the way you complain travel costs money, and you aren't going to move to a different area, then yes.
The aca is only going to increase demand for medical services,and supply was short before aca passed, So there's job security
