How can I turn money into more money in two years or less?

I have 1000 dollars, I want to invest it somehow.
I know nothing of starting my own business or the stock market, and no college degree and an $8 per hour job.
What do?
I want to be able to make a down payment on a house in under 6 years
>>
A grand is not enough to invest in anything worthwhile if you want a decent return within a few years.
>>
>>16573745
It's easy. If you have scissors you can cut each bill in half and make double the money in about 10 minutes.
>>
>>16573745

Invest in finding a better job. I am NOT trolling.
>>
>>16573761
Wait how do I buy a better job without being my own boss? (Selling or making something/starting a business)
>>
>>16573771

Wow, poorfags gonna poorfag? Did you seriously not know that it's the norm to sleep the interview a couple hundred while passing them your resume? How do you think people get jobs?

Anyway, apply for jobs. You don't know what you are doing and $1000 isn't enough to get you anything without significant risk of losing it all. You can look up bond rates, but that will make you 2-4% tops without being able to touch your money for years. If that, I haven't checked in ages.
>>
>>16573779
Slipping the interviewer money?? I wouldn't be qualified for any job that would require that. And that sounds illegal as shit.
>>
>>16573771
Sell yourself. Buy clothes for the job you want. Get resumes professionally done, find cheap training/qualifications that would get you a better job
>>
>>16573794

Did you just seriously take it? In your mouth? And bite down? Please pretend you just kicked it out of the water back at me.

>>16573829

Tbh he just needs to apply to wherever. I don't know how much CDL classes cost, but he can do that.

There is no excuse for making $8 an hour in the US, there just isn't.*

*for people who aren't cripples in some shape, way, or form
>>
take your $1000 to a casino and bet it all on black
>>
>>16573829
That's actually really solid advice thank you
>>
>>16573844
I'm 21 and I only have a high school education because I can't afford college.
>inb4 ask mommy and daddy to pay for school
My parents make the same money I do yet they have more bills, in other words, my parents are poorer than I am. And no I do not live with them.
>>
>>16573870

Military. CDL. Call center. Sales. I am NOT trying to be a dick. I genuinely feel for you, and don't know what your options are to actually get somewhere in life, but you should NOT be making $8 at 21, even given what you just told me. I am not saying that to insult you, that's my honest opinion.
>>
>>16573879
No I agree with you. I need more. With as cheap as my bills are I have enough at the end of the month to whack off with 200 dollars, but that much still isn't even enough for me to afford a car.
I like the idea of side career training. Is that what you did? You think I'd have enough time to do training and my 40hrs a week?
>>
>>16573863
:)
>>
>>16573892

I think you will have a hard time and will have to dedicate yourself to something for far longer than you want/expect to, but it will be worth it in the end.

The problem is that a lot of "side career" training is bullshit. Here are the "non-college jobs" that pretty much WILL eventually pay:

1. Truck driver (Truckerfag needs to get in here and tell you more, I will point him to this thread if I see him, but I have to go go soon). From what I understand, a CDL (google it) takes only weeks to get and it's fairly easy to get jobs. It's a HUGE boost in pay from what you are making now.

2. Electrician - you will have to take months of classes and then be a bitch for years (around 2), but then you start doing decent work and making decent money.

3). Software Testing - but you would have to really get good and sell yourself.

I don't know what you do now, but factory work isn't nearly as bad as it seems - I did some factory jobs "back in the day" and it was fairly bearable, at least for short stretches of time. Not worse than any other bitch work like fast food, etc (actually better).

Long story short - I don't think you have time to really go to school while employed full time, You should probably get a CDL and think about whether or not you want to go to college from there.

Also, salesmen can make good money, but it's a crapshoot.
>>
>>16573921
A CDL requires
>4-12 weeks
>$1500-$5000
>almost any bank will give you a signature loan for under 10%
>most companies that will hire you will pay your loan off for you

What do you want to know?
>>
>>16573932

That's what I wanted to know, thanks a lot. I kind of want anon to make it in life because I am a huge fag. :3

Anyway, appreciate it man.

@OP - I know my state also has a program where the state covers part of the tuition for licenses like that, but it might be an exception.
>>
>>16573844
Just because you're an entitled little twat doesn't mean everyone is. There are many reasons to be poor in the US. Not everyone has parents that can pay for their education and to get a job like you do. Just be glad you've been given everything you have and stay out of conversation with the less fortunate.
>>
>>16573939

I genuinely believe a person with an IQ of over 90 and no major physical disabilities should be able to get to middle class in a few years.

There is understanding reality, and there is crying together and spouting pessimistic shit that just doesn't apply.
>>
>>16573921
Word. I have a friend who's an insurance salesman who really wants to set me up and he said he's getting 3k a month which would be perfect for me, but I understand that being a salesman is a hit and miss sometime. Do you think it's worth me trying? Like quitting my current job for?

>>16573939
Hey man relax he's actually giving solid advice now, I do a lot of software stuff in my free time and I never even thought of software testing

>>16573932
Because I can't afford a car I haven't bothered with getting my license. (Also because I spent my teen years being too busy being a drug addict to upgrade my learners permit to a license)
ANYWAYS, would a CDL require that I've had my license for X amount of time?
>>
>>16573745
>no knowledge of the stock market
start there
here's a tip
how much are you paying for gas? not much anymore, eh?
how much is a barrel of oil? not much you say, eh?
maybe you should look at ticker symbol USO or a similar relevant oil fund. USO can be purchased on NYSE Arca just like a regular stock.
I'm just sitting here waiting for when I think the low is because there is something to be made here. Good luck and happy trading.
>>
>>16573965

I can't honestly recommend trading to anyone. First of all, I barely knew what was going on when I was staring at charts all day, let alone checking it after I work. Second of all, he is not going to get margin so commission will kill him on $1000.

As far as oil - you don't know how much of that is already priced in. That's like saying a recession is going to happen. I can pretty safely say that if he shorts a market index, he is going to be richer in 5...or 10 years. Way too long term.

>Word. I have a friend who's an insurance salesman who really wants to set me up and he said he's getting 3k a month which would be perfect for me, but I understand that being a salesman is a hit and miss sometime. Do you think it's worth me trying? Like quitting my current job for?

Is his job a 100% commission? Will your current employer let you come back?

I am all for you quitting, but not if you are going to starve if it doesn't pan out.
>>
>>16573974
I'm not sure I'll ask him real quick hold on
>>
>>16573974
Just curious if you are literally fucking retarded. I'm not even an expert and I know what's happening with oil. The only question is do the big producers know something that the average investor doesn't. I really doubt it. At least as far as it relates to what I said.

Everyone caught the low on coal:

>>
>>16573974
He said it's entirely commission, so don't do it right?
>>
>>16574013

It's your life man. Depends on the thing I mentioned - particularly the chances of getting your job back, how much your friend is willing to help you, how certain he is you would be able to do the job, and your ability to speak clearly and appeal to people (at least in that narrow range of interactions).

You need to do SOMETHING though.
>>
>>16574025
I agree, well thank you man
>>
>>16574034

Good luck. I am out.
>>
So now I know some solid ways to earn more money. However I still don't know any investment strategies outside of a 401k. Anyone got anything simple and legal? Counter example would be flipping drugs.
