"I mean..." He turns to face her, dropping his hand. "It's not like I don't trust you! I do! It's just that I have this thing about heights."
He walks to the window and takes hold of the sill. Leaning out, he takes a swift glance down at the street below. The sense of vertigo is immediate.
"They're not me." He says shakily.
Hands on her hips, she pouts momentarily. Then a broad, toothy grin splits her face.
"Aww!" She coos mockingly. She bunches her hands beneath her chin and leans in close to him. "Is wittle Mawty all a-scared of big, scawy heights?"
He frowns. "It's not funny." He says, embarrassed.
"PFFFT!" She cracks up, floating backward and curling in on herself.
"It's not!" He whines. "Really!"
She's snorting and giggling like a crazy person. Her body shakes with laughter.
"I fell out of a moving van when I was a kid!" He says, becoming annoyed. "It kinda stuck with me, y'know!"

To be honest, that was something that legitimately struck me about the Doom Slayer. His anger didn't seem to be just constant and arbitrary, like he was just a naturally angry person or some standard kratos edgefuck. It seemed a specifically vengeful kind of anger, like all the terrible shit he was seeing was a personal affront to him, the kind of anger that you could get out of a very compassionate person. Someone who can really get hurt, deeply, and then turn that hurt directly into rage.
