I'd say that the problem has more to do with how it's been drawn than in how large the lips are.
In the OP, the lips just look wrong, and I'm thinking it's the lack of definition that's causing the effect. Because the style of the lips is vaguely minimalist, there's no real line-work and it just relies on shading. So rather than 'large', the lips look more like they're swollen, and because they're so big it looks excessive and medically concerning.
In my opinion, it's particularly apparent in the last image and less so in the third. Possibly because of the odd shape.
