Alright, now that I'm done capslocking, something more serious: Wild Fang just publicly uploaded volume 18 of Grappler Baki. Before you fuck off to go read it, read this:
We don't know what to do now about *our* releases of Grappler Baki now. You may or may not recall: someone said in a thread a little while back that Wild Fang was, in their private forum, already some depth into the Maximum Tournament arc. This volume 18 that they uploaded has a timestamp of September, 2010 on it, which lends credence to the possibility of the former statement being true.
If we were to continue working on v18, we would be doing their work over again (better than them, but still). If we were to skip to volume 19, we still might be doing their work over again if they decide at any point to upload volume 19 before we're done. Ichido Reichan has yet to respond to anything we've sent him, and is unlikely to do so because he's a little rat that should be stamped on repeatedly.
My main points are this: do you guys care enough about quality to want us to redo their work but better, and can anyone substantiate the claim that they are *privately* in Maximum Tournament? If the latter is true, the overwhelming likelihood is that I'll just pay for a membership and then publicly release it all, I don't really care.

Why does Motobe blow? He's just as afraid of the high-level opponents as before, we've seen it's just bluster to throw them off. His skills really are something we haven't seen before in the manga. Only person doing something similar was Yanagi, who Motobe pulled apart like a wishbone.

It's true that weapon users in general are under represented in Baki, but the way Motobe made himself relevant was really frustrating for me as a reader. He shows up after having one (1) on screen fight that I can recall prior to Baki Dou, and proceeds to punk Baki and body Jack. I also think his motivation is pretty stupid to boot.

He fought Yuujiro, SumoGOD, and Yanagi. Consider this though, re him tricking Baki: Yanagi did the same thing. Baki had 0 real chance of losing to Yanagi had he not been tricked into letting his guard down. He got KO'd because he didn't expect such a bizarre "weapon".
Honestly, this series so far is strongly reiterating the themes of the second series. There's similarities all around if you care to look for them. If you go back and read the part in New Grappler where Yanagi is playing with the kusarigama vs Baki, you'll notice he holds it in his hands in the same way that Musashi holds his hands around a sword. There's the ever-present concept of "jissen": the real fight, which was never so much as mentioned in the third series, but has made a marvelous recurrence here.
We're also getting a sort of mimicry of what happened with Muhammad Ali Jr in the second series: every character that we think is super-powerful gets beaten with relative ease at first, and it seems like all is lost. I'm predicting an absolute turn-around in the same way. Remember how Shibukawa told Katsumi that he had been training in some unbelievable way? That *must* come back later, as it was neither mentioned or indicated in his first encounter with Musashi. The same may go for Doppo and Baki. Doppo said he would give up on trying to beat Musashi, but do you really believe that? None of the fighters have said that at all before. There must be a reason he would say that, and I'm thinking it's reverse psychology for the reader.

I would say that I liked the Chinese arc just as much as the prisoners. I think those two were completely on par. What about Retsu's amazing fight with Jyaku? Yuujiro's amazing speech to the crowd about loss and the honor of the Raitai? Weren't you hyped as hell when you realized that this old, honourable, almost entirely wheelchair-bound man had the potential to actually kill Yuujiro?

We all know Ichido is a consummate liar, so even if I asked him in a faux-serious "should I sign up" conversation, they might not have them and I'd be screwed out of 20 bucks or whatever. That's the plan, but it also obviously completely stops any Grappler Baki releases that we can do for you guys. We want to work on it and get out the highest quality product, but it will become a problem if Wild Fang keeps fucking with us. It takes time to do all the cleaning and typesetting and redrawing and translating. If we don't have something to do that for, it will be even longer before we can get out a new Grappler Baki release. That's our main point/concern.

It's not nonsense. Itagaki did his research for this one. The mind-reading and imagination stuff has its basis in musouken. The weird way he holds his swords is based in Japanese swordsmanship. He's not prancing around when he does the light hand-slashes, he is actually hitting the enemy across the diagonals that he's drawing in his head. That's why he's angry that Pickle is shrugging it off easily. The technique he's using is derived from Musashi's poetry writing. He used a brush to write, and progressively used faster and faster forms of the Japanese calligraphy systems until he no longer needed the brush to "write" the poetry. He could write in the air. He then applied that theory to the sword. He can strike impossibly fast and impossibly hard with his bare hands, so he no longer bothers to use a real sword. If you have a problem with his hands being extremely strong, you shouldn't be reading Baki. Anyway, he actually KO'd Baki with it, so to him, it should logically do similar damage to Pickle. Musashi can actually cut people with his hands if he wants to do so. His fight with Yuujiro shows us that. Like he's done throughout the series, he is consciously choosing not to kill people because he also believes that he doesn't need to literally kill them in order to "kill them". Again, the sousho (calligraphy) theory. Why actually kill them if he can just prove that he can kill them and get famous?

How I see it. Kaku said he would rather fake his death than fight Pickle, assuming that is not a wildfangism. Oliva can be one shotted by the Ogre and Oliva can crush Gebaru when he's serious.

you have to remember that Oliva and Guevara were considered #2 and #3 in the world; even if Baki beat Oliva, Oliva still remains likely far stronger than Katsumi. If I was being fair, I would say 2-armed Katsumi would be an equal match for Guevara. With one arm, he can't really do anything

Pickle wasn't damaged by the last mach hit whatsoever. Katsumi's arm was destroyed *before* he touched Pickle, because of the acceleration, iirc. His lighter "mach attacks" or whatever didn't do nearly enough to stop Pickle - you could argue that Baki marginally more damage than Katsumi. Going beyond that, in a strange coincidence, 105 lends evidence to my point. Pickle didn't remember Katsumi when he decided to go primal-mode against Musashi; he remembered Retsu. When senmanga gets the raws, I'll tell you what it says, but for now it looks like Retsu was stronger than Katsumi even in the Pickle saga.
And Kaku = Yuujiro imo
