This plot sure is padded out.
it feels like they need another 25 episodes to make it better. do they ever intend on going back to mars? i'm sure kudelia is going to need more than just one trip to earth to win independance, and the chaos will surly make for some better action scenes.

There is a place between cackling lizard man and saint. You don't have to be comical to be a bad guy, you don't even have to seem like a bad person to be an antagonist which is what made many Gundam "bad guys" like Ramba Ral so popular. You can have acts bad but has different world view which gets expanded on, but they don't even do that, all of them laugh about or admit to being horrible in the end. A few very bad people is fine to throw in but when that is all but 2 antagonist they have met and there is zero subtly to all of it then people get tired
The only antagonists that don't seem out right evil are Not-Garma and a Pedofile, both of which have done fuck all but give exposition
