If he were to fully abuse his curse he could spend an eternity learning everything little thing about the major players in the kingdom and use that information to manipulate them into achieving his goals. It being a magical world I would assume powerful magical artifacts exist which could also be learned of and found/stolen within the infinite amount of time he has.
Even if he doesn't go full munchkin he could at least be aware that he could just reset his day if he bombs spectacularly like he did in this episode. In episode 7 it shows that subaru is willing to kill himself to fix bad outcomes, but since then he has completely forgotten this.

Said magical items and other things you speak off would be also fairly hard, he only has a few days, and the info he could gather is limited, and is not like they'd allow him to find out about it in the only 3 days he has.
His save point is also not fixed, he'd be scared shitless of trying to spend more than he currently did in terms of days, only to find out the checkpoint moved forward he doesn't reset his day, he resets to an unspecified point and the reasons are not known.
Also he is not willing to kill himself. He hesitated A LOT. In case you forgot, he reached the cliff in daytime, and slept there until dusk. Only after he found out Rem and Ram weren't heartless and were only acting out against him due to suspicion did he take the jump, because for one the timeline was fucked already, and he was going to get killed by Ram, so he choose the way that would hurt less, but he does not want to die.

It's temporarily fixed until he goes past a certain amount of time or until whoever is setting the checkpoints wants him to move on. Until those points he has a few days to do whatever he wants for potentially an infinite amount of time. He is also currently in one of the biggest cities in the world so his potential for knowledge and tech is very high. Since those in the city also think he is Emilia's knight he has access to many important people and areas. Subaru's current save point is the best he's had so far in the show.

Even if Subaru learned how to fight he'd never get physically stronger and even Rem would be able to take him. Tom Cruise just needs to get used to his power armor and Subaru has solved his problems far quicker than Cruise did, dude looped a few hundred times.

Also the aliens in the edge of tomorrow used the same strategy in every life he lived, the exact same number come at him from the exact same side.

Well the only other person aware of it is whoever is setting the checkpoints (may or may not be the witch) and the show could have played off that angle. Subaru could have started to use his loops to reach the outcomes he wanted only to be thwarted sometimes when the Witch? moves up the checkpoint once her goals for that loops have been completed. It could have developed a detective angle as Subaru now tries to do the best he can in his loops while also trying to figure who is pulling the strings and what their goals are based on how the checkpoints are activated.

It's not so much that we want Subaru to be likable and smart, we just want his whole character arc to stop treading water. He continues to learn new things about himself and the world, but never acts upon that knowledge and continues to make the same mistakes.

So basically he eventually gets those 3 queen candidates to agree to help him, but thay must defeat the white whale first cuz he's apparently in the way, for them getting to the mansion to save Emilia. And apparently the old man, the one that can see what's in Subaru's eye's, lost his wife to the white whale, so he want's revenge, and apparently is the most powerful motherf****r around since he has some sort of ability that allows him to gain any ability necessary to to win a fight, something like that. So after Subaru gets there help, they head to kill the white whale, but they die a lot, and it takes subaru a few trys to get his company a win, without anyone dieing. After they beat white whale, they head to Emillia, and to kill the cult. Again they die a lot, and Subaru has to keep looping until he finds a solution to that creepy cult leader that has an invisible hand ability that keeps killing everyone, Subaru's new save point at this point is right after they defeat the white whale, so he doesn't have to go back as far. Eventually Subaru figures out how his ability works and they kill him, and they save everyone.

I had this problem early in the mansion arc. He should have been full recon, learning, training etc groundhog style ever since the shit at the bar. Better yet BEING ENDORSED by elfshit and grinding levels right under the nose of that house hold would have been great. If the author wanted us to view the smell as a bad thing they could have written a set time limit of number of loops before witch just gives up resetting.
