Is Norisuke's characterization meant to be really inconsistent, though? When he was first introduced he mentioned making Gappy into a 'slave in mind and body' or something and seemed as though he was struggling to restrain violence, but then he chills quite considerably and even starts putting himself in harm's way for the guy?
Obviously he has ulterior motives in taking him in, I just got past the part where he mentioned how Kira had known something about a special fruit that could fix the family illness, but he openly admitted all that, and genuinely doesn't seem angry at Gappy anymore, even though not all that much seemed to change to make him change his attitude.

Stardust Crusaders has my favourite aesthetic of any JoJo part. It's weakly written, and has some of the worst stand fights in the entire series. But there's something really fun about it's aesthetic that I find very enjoyable. Stardust Crusaders is just before Araki goes off the deepend of bizarreness, with midgets, twinks, gigantic fat people, and elves.
The simpler names of the stands, the endless buildup to discovering DIO's ability, the idea of a globetrotting adventure to go slay a vampire.
I love the look and feel of Stardust Crusaders alot, even if it is in my bottom three JoJo parts.

Yeah, same. While SDC has its issues, it's also got some great ideas and amazing scenery, I'm always more fond of the parts where they travel a lot. One of the things I liked most about SBR.
I'd have preferred a part 3 re-imagining than the part 4 one that Jojolion is, to be honest. Part 4 was always extremely solid, but the base idea of part 3 with Araki's better storytelling would've been great.

In later parts starting with polnareff the side characters got arcs and shinning moments of their own in which they proved themselves against enemies. Did anyone in part 2 do anything close to as good as Koichi talking shit to Kira in accumulation of his growth arc? No, they didn't. Did they do anything as good as pretty much anything the part 5 crew did? No. They're all much more 1 dimensional than the crews in later parts as well.

Worst thing about the Hamon parts right here. Nobody except Jonathan and Joseph do literally anything.
Both Zeppelis literally live to die for a Joestar. Speedwagon just cries. Dire uses his "unblockable" kick twice, and it doesn't work once. Straits and Tonpetty do literally nothing. Lisa Lisa is supposed to be a master of the ripple, but loses her first fight and becomes a generic damsel. Stroheim can't keep himself in one piece for more than two minutes. Messina and Loggins both get their arms lobbed off, one of them dies offscreen the other randomly shows up just to die.
They. Are. All. Fucking. USELESS.
Every part onward almost all the side characters get their own fights, backgrounds, motives, etc. Even when they aren't center focus, they often use their stands to be useful instead of just narrating what JoJo is doing from the sidelines. Vento Aureo's real protagonist is Bruno, and Gyro is as fleshed out important as Johnny if not more. Hermes and Polnareff both get arcs where they avenge the deaths of their sisters. Even Iggy gets his own fight.
But in the Hamon parts the only character allowed to be competent at anything is JoJo.

How to fix part 4
1. Cut the lock and surface, Yukako and chef they're unnecessary characters
2.Introduce Shigechi and Cinderella early as stand user who doesn't want to fight to show that not all stand users are psychopaths
3. Cut Okuyasu vs Chilli Peppers it was a shit fight then cut Joseph and the baby they were irrelevant after their introduction and Joseph's spirit photos were a plot hole for finding Kira.
4. Koichi gets Echoes act 2 as his only stand against Rohan
5. Cut Ratt it was filler
6. Cut Ghost Alley it added nothing to the plot
7. Cut Shigechi's Harvest. With him introduced earlier it will feel less forced when he's killed off.
8. Cut the Cinderella chapter since Yukako was cut.
9. In Sheer Heart Attack instead of act 3 just have act 2 make a "crush" sound effect it does the same job. Then kill Koichi off.
10. Cut Atom Heart Father Kira's dad was a shit plot device to rehash the arrow hunt
11. Cut Scissors paper rock boy it was filler.
12. Cut the Alien his character didn't go anywhere
13. Cut Highway Star cool filler is still filler
14. Cut superfly it was filler
15. Cut Enigma more filler
16. Cut Cheap Trick filla
17. Kira retrieves the arrow from his estate but cuts himself gaining bites the dust
18. In their final fight Kira uses bites the dust but Josuke grabs him and they go back in time.
19. Josuke pushes the car.
With these changes part 4 would be tighter, more dynamic, better paced and give a better pay off.

In part 4 Josuke has the main fight but without Koichi, Jotaru and Okuyasu Kira easily escapes. Josuke does all the work but doesn't even land the last blow.
In part 5 Gio would've been a scared little shit who would've gotten BTFO by pretty much everyone until they get past White Album if it weren't for Bruno, Fugo and Mista. Even after that point he needs his crew to live.
In part 6 the crew are all equally important in the last fight.
In part 7 Johnny would've been fucked through out pretty much the entirety of part 7 if it weren't for Gyro.
In part 8 now may be the most centred part around a protag than we've gotten in years, and Yasuho STILL gets more spotlight than any of the side characters from parts 1 & 2.

Sounds good. At some other stall they had a Giorno, Crazy diamond and GE statue, they weren't sas and they looked legit bootlegged, I picked up the box and it was extremely light. The pictures on the front of the statue were hilariously bad, they looked like someone painted them when he was bored. And there was a picture of the stands on the other side that looked clear/transparent with no paint, GE was just transparent yellow. I don't think it was DIY though cus the box was too light to hold more than a really bad figure

The story does a lot of time jumping, so it's possible it will start out before the story, lead into some important plot point concerning Joshuu, and then return to the current time and the plot point will become relevant. I imagine it will involve Joshuu pissing off the wrong guy but slipping out of the responsibility and then getting caught back up in it after the Damo event, or Joshuu getting punished for some shit he tries to pull, and runs into the guy again after the Damo incident and decides to get payback using his Stand, which only causes more problems.

The final battle was, legitimately, one of the most tense encounters I've read in manga. Among Jojo final battles, I rate it number three, after Valentine vs Johnny and Pucci vs Everyone, in terms of tension.

I don't think so, because I see it as a missed opportunity. Part 4 showed Araki was capable of writing more interesting stories than the SC format of "we must go kill this mysterious enemy."
There was a ton of potential for mob shenanigans in Vento Aureo, but Araki never made use of them. Is VA better written than SC? Sure. Araki has been drastically improving as a writer with each part. But where DIU felt like a completely new style for the series, VA felt like retreading.
It needed something more. Araki figured it out by SBR, which is a similar "long journey" type part. But it's filled with so much more to it than just, "we're on our way to kill the bad guy." Whereas VA was basically nothing more than that.
Put simply, Stardust Crusaders threw the series into a whole new direction and genre. Diamond is Unbreakable did the same. But Vento Aureo just retreat an old style.

It was one last hoorah for not just Diego, The World, but also D4C, since it demonstrated another aspect of it's powers (the fact that Valentine could have pulled in dozens of characters from other worlds into the base world for some craziness) and it also wrapped up Lucy's story so wonderfully, by showing how far this teenaged girl has come since her first appearance.

Doesn't surprise me at all. Araki is known for changing his mind a lot, leading to somewhat inconsistent plots. I get the impression that he always knows where he wants the story to go, but how it gets there he largely makes up as he goes. I have no doubt that he's made major changes to the overall plot since starting, and that certain mysteries from early JJL are never going to be brought up again. Like Flashback man.

His flesh shading really jumped off a fucking cliff somewhere in part 5, but the characters are usually wearing enough clothing that you don't notice it.
Nearly everybody in part 6 has exposed limbs, so you get to see Arakis weird flesh shading more often, and it's really garish. Combine that with poor anatomy, hideous outfits and character designs, and weak background art, and you have one ugly Jojo part.

Depends how well it's executed.
Some returning charaters in DiU felt like they were just there while other got some cool arcs and development like Rohan and Yukako .
VA's minor villains felt a bit tiresome at times since it's just an endless gauntlet and even the main cast don't get much development because they're constantly fighting, but then you get moments of brilliance like Beach Boys / Grateful Dead which is a great use of a minor villains short screen time to develop them rather than them just being in the background after getting defeated.
