I don't know if an archer would be very useful. A lot of the locations we've seen are very friendly-fire friendly and with only piercing attacks, it doesn't seem very useful. Maybe with other throwables.

The staff is Farlyne's however she herself was not eating. that is the skeleton of a female orc (we'll find out when they dig oit some child bea ring hips from the entrails). Farlyne dropped her staff when she was inside of the mouth before being ejected out because the dragon felt her kind nature. She'll be fine, I'm not in denial.
All of that still doesn't explain why the dragon wasn't sleeping. The manga explicitly said it was odd for the dragon to still be awake after such a feast. I thought it was because somehow Farlyn had made herself non-digestible but it's clearly something else.
