I feel bad for doubting the rest of it, though. I was thinking "kind of seems like it could do with a completely out of left field twist," and I dismissed it. And it even exceeded that, with the twist being undercut by her friends as not being "enough."
I'd be interested in seeing which direction it would go in: trying to do more underpowered psychic gags, or her turning out to have a bunch of other powers that are also kind of underwhelming.
