The problem was that they spent a significant art the advertising campaign pretending that she was the heroine and significant (they were even selling statues of her, and showing pre-release foortage of her being present for boss fights she isn't available for in the final game). And then she turned out to be some literally who that doesn't really matter to anything, and when the DLC story was announced it was clear that the whole character existed as a bait and switch to make people want to spend more money.
That's the core of it. They created an artificial problem to sell DLC. You could argue that something happened with Flynn, but Flynn was at least still important to the story and Yuri's character. Alisha is just nothing.

The cast doesn't like Alisha at all in the game and they constantly make it a point, she's like that one nerd who thinks they have friends yet they constantly talk down to her when she's around and flat out dog her when she isn't.

After she left the group, you immediately find out that she got arrested/captured and then Sorey is forced to take part in the war. After the whole sequence though, Sorey effectively forgets that Alisha was captured and never mentions her again unless she's brought up by other people. Then when you reunite with her on the bridge, Sorey's attitude is "oh right you were captured".
Alisha was more of an acquaintance to Sorey than a friend.

Sure am glad I enjoyed the game enough that I don't need to hope that an anime rewrites the story to satisfy me.

Because if so, well shit, I can understand why people were sore about a bait and switch like that in the game itself if it was advertised as if she were an integral character for months before release. I mean, it's only been two episodes and I'd already be a little pissed off if they suddenly shafted her away for the rest of the series after spending all this time characterizing her.
