I read part 7 first, because a friend linked it to me and told me to. I really loved it, and went and read the other parts afterwards, still reading part eight now.
Seven's still my favorite, but I thought all of the parts had value. Don't understand this place's hateboner for 3 and Jotaro in particular, part 3 was annoyingly drawn-out but was great when it got to Egypt.

Baby Face is one of the more original stands in the series, I thought it was pretty funny and the fight isn't as bad as everyone seems to think.
I would have picked Sex Pistols because of their personality but the actual ability just isn't interesting enough for me to justify it.
Also, I feel like part 3 stands are easy to pick on for least favorite but the fights are so short they aren't really that bad to read through and it doesn't make me dislike them so much.

Pol had a fuck ton of interaction with Jotaro especially after Kakoyin got sent to the hospital. Jotaro and Pol are always hanging out in the second half because Kak isn't there and Joseph and Abdol are doing their own gay thing most of the time.
Kak fits a lot of the tropes that Brojos file into, the first friend kinda thing, he was saved, he wants to bang the Jojo's mom but it's undeniable that Pol spent more time with Jotaro.

That's literally what I'm talking about, that's a very situational application that doesn't quite work on the fly. The important part is that it isn't D4C's first use, his first use is with Lucy and consistent with the common use, and as soon as Valentine is done with "who-shot-Johnny" shenanigans he fights Wekapipo and Diego with his standard D4C use, literally within the same arc meant to establish his abilities. Who shot Johnny was just Araki's way of introducing the alternate universe part of D4C in an interesting narrative that goes through each universe and overlaps them.
It was pretty weird and confusing and only ever happened once, but there was no ability change up, it worked one way, then did a weird thing followed immediately by working the old way and staying that way for the rest of the story.
Heck, if you consider Valentine's advisors to be D4C foreshadowing it makes it even more consistent, but that's always been a bit of a stretch with how early they appear

That's not necessarily true. A mostly unfounded assumption on your part doesn't mean everyone would have that experience.
For example, pretend you hadn't read Part 6 yet, but know Part 7 takes place in a totally unaffiliated universe. Clearly, this meant Part 6 had a sense of finality, but what "shit goes down" is conjecture in your blind-reading mind.
For all you know it could just have a very satisfactory, happy ending, with all the Joestars joining forces and taking down the big bad.

Polnareff and Jotaro spend loads of time together, though.
In the car during the Oingo shit, Polnareff was acting super-friendly with 'Jotaro', bothering him to eat oranges and do weird shit with cigarettes. Later on they team up to fight Anubis, Jotaro accompanies Polnareff to the barber and it spirals out of control from there. And then they hang out and do a team-attack with the Alessi shit, with Jotaro comforting Polnareff after he has to turn that lady down. Polnareff even sneezes on Jotaro (unknowingly saving his life from Hol Horse) and doesn't get growled at.
And during the final fight, Polnareff and Jotaro pair up and ride a bike together, looking real gay, and when DIO's about to finish the seemingly-dead Jotaro off Polnareff comes to his rescue, and ironically ends up having to be saved himself. And then they have that big hug at the end where Jotaro's all teary-eyed.

The anime for Parts 1 and 2 are generally considered better than the manga versions and the manga of Part 3 better than the anime. Also it gets better as it goes along despite running for 30 years and still going. Parts 1, 2 and 3 are good but part of the way through Part 4 is when the series really hits it's stride and becomes the thing that people love it for. Just so you know unless you read the manga you'll be waiting like a decade to catch up. This series is REALLY long and still running. The anime is only a third of the way through Part 4, which ran in Shonen Jump between 1992 and 1995, so there's a lot left to go. It's split into Parts which are like arcs except they each follow a different protagonist in a different time period.
Part 1 is 44 chapters and 9 episodes (2012 series)
Part 2 is 69 chapters and 17 episodes (2012 series)

Part 5 is 155 chapters
Part 6 is 158 chapters

Giorno's father was technically an undead mishmash of two different men into one so he's got DIO's and Jonathan's DNA. It still does in Part 5 and 6, but it just has the episodic format since they're all so much longer. And because they're longer the stories have a lot more mystery elements to them that are revealed over time. 3 and 4 are the only real 'episodic' ones in the series. Part 5 has the same goal from beginning to end and while it doesn't seem that way at first, there isn't any real filler and every fight has some sort of plot progression to it. Same with 6. 7 and 8 are closer to Part 1 and 2 style but they're REAAAAALLLYYY long. 7 has a lot fo filler fights in the beginning but after about halfway it basically goes back to the style that 1 and 2 had. and 8 is a pure mystery story so EVERYTHING so far has relevance to the main plot and stuff that seems like filler at first is actually very important. Part 5 also has shit translation which lose some of it's cohesiveness.

It's the journey not the destination. In the end it wasn't the boy's life that was important, but the lengths Gyro went to to make a change which eventually led to changes in the Neapolitan criminal justice system so that innocent children didn't have to be executed.
