It's not okay that people will riff on ZEXAL to hell and back when not only did it handle a cross dimensional war better than Arc-V has so far, the main character of Arc-V has more upgrades and pulls more shit out of thin air than the main character whose power was literally to pull things out of thin air.
It's not okay that people will riff on ZEXAL or Yu-Gi-Oh! GX to hell and back but defend Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V when the latter has absolutely no soul. It's got no distinct flavor and it certainly doesn't feel like a Yu-Gi-Oh! series. All of that went out of the window after the second Yuya/Reiji duel and it has not returned. All Arc-V does is allude to things. It alludes to events that we don't get to see. It alludes to a certain kind of flavor and style that it wants to have, but for some reason doesn't, when it very well could.
DM has the three gods and their combined form
GX has the 3 demons and their fusion as well as the Planet series
5D's has the signer dragons, their evolved forms and their duel dragons
Zexal still has the incomplete Number series.
Arc-V has the 4 dimensional dragons, their evolved forms and manga counterparts through to be honest, I expect Yuri in the manga to be like Yuto and have his anime dragon rather than a new one like Yuya and Yugo. Through, wouldn't it be interesting if they had both anime and their own original dragons as a plot point?

I'll always defend Synchro arc because it does pick itself up in the second half and runs to a stunning conclusion that I'd argue surpasses the heights of Standard arc, but it's a simple fact that it dragged its feet for way too long and fucked over XYZ arc as a result.

5Ds was 50% filler garbage that completely ruined all of its characters that managed to end with 20 great episodes by some miracle
GX was 3/4 mediocre to shit tier and packed to the brim with filler and characters just standing around sucking Judai's dick, 1/4 great
Zexal was almost half good, over half complete shit (and loaded with filler)
Arc-V had 60 great episodes, 15 mediocre (but not strictly unwatchable) ones with some good duels sprinkled here and there (Yuzu/Enjoy, Sawatari/Yugo, Shun/Dennis), and then like 25 generally solid ones (with an incredible climax for synchro arc) before we hit the 10 ep XYZ arc which, while it rushed too fast and had a shit conclusion, was itself still watchable.
Show's certainly taken some real dives on occasion, but unlike GX, 5Ds, or ZEXAL, it generally manages to catch itself before it falls into purely unwatchable territory for any significant stretch of time.

ZeXal was poorly written garbage 80% of the time. The interdimensional war wasn't an interdimensional war but one godlike being acting like a massive dickbag. Also, the actual "war" part came out of nowhere and STILL doesn't make sense after half a dozen rewatches. Just about the only things that ZeXal did right were Shark (and even he suffers from odd backstory elements) and the Archlights (who were carried by the fact that they were the producer's favorites and good VA work).
GX was stupid but fun and there's really nothing else to say about that.
Arc-V getting 50 episodes in before even starting a decline is honestly pretty damn good for a YGO series, and on average we're still doing better than usual. 5Ds is cited as one of the best YGO series (despite making the worst ratings), and it lasted into the 60s before declining, but its decline outright nosedived. When I see these complaints in thread, I'm not even sure we're watching the same shows. I've seen every YGO in both dubbed and subbed versions (and watched the subbed version multiple times through each), and I honestly don't get the "no soul" complaint for Arc-V.
It's a 150+ episode shounen designed to market trading cards to kids first and foremost. You can't honestly expect every single episode to be fantastic, or even good. Hell, we have 12-episode anime that can't even hold themselves to that standard.

Arc-V doesn't hit as low lows, but the highs aren't that memorable either. Yuya vs Reiji II had a lot of rewatchability for me, but I can't really say the same for other major duels throughout the series like Jack vs Yuya II. The other series had drama that could be pretty cheesy or melodramatic, but there's barely any kind of drama or tension in Arc-V's recent state, since Yuya can twirl entame circles around Edo, the chief commander of Academia.
Most of Arc-V is watchable enough by Yugioh standards, but it doesn't leave an impression or impact as strong as the other series left with their biggest events.

And for all that there is still little to no sense of tension in this series, or urgency. At least ZEXAL's own characters seemed to and felt like they cared about what was going on. The Retrieve Astral arc alone was more emotionally charging than all of Arc-V's second half, which could pretty much be summed up as a "Retrieve Yuzu" mega arc.
