Ono is a good director but my biggest problem is he starts off great and finishes too early. He can't close the deal. This is based off 5DS and Arc-V looks to be following the same path. So, how do you rate the legacy support for past character's decks? Asuka finally has her Cyber Angels and they do alright and Jack's deck is actually stronger than Yusei's now. Meanwhile Crow's Assault Blackwings have done nothing for the Blackwing archetype as a whole, Edo's cards don't really do much for Destiny Heroes playstyle and Kaito's sole contribution in his Ciper has made Galaxy decks even more annoying to deal with.

Girag, one of the villains of the arc spent 10 episodes on retarded schemes like mind controlling teachers and students to mildly inconvenience the cast in various ways and failed every time. The problem is that his proper introduction established him as a sort of ominous background threat, and then he just spends almost the entire rest of his screentime discrediting his own side as a legitimate threat until it's too late to really take them seriously anymore.
Vector was the one saving grace to this, but he couldn't salvage the rest of them from being completely nonthreatening

Brave Eyes Pendulum Dragon will not be in Invasion of Venom, in fact, Yuya has less of a presence in this set then I thought, only 4 monsters. the cat, the eel, the giraffe and either Laughmaker or Descend Dragon Magician. An OCG monster took the effect slot at the top so no yuto hippo. This isn't exciting. If the cat's any indication they have no intentions of changing these cards to be more playable in the real game.

Shun got cheap development, Gon and Sawatari might as well have not even of been there they influenced nothing. But we're laser focused on making Yuya amazing so there is no time for other people.

Shun's development was handled alright.
There were lots of hints toward him changing slowly. In 58 he acts like he doesn't care about the lancers and then in 63 he jumps to their rescue. In 74-75 he gets pissed at the apparent betrayal, but, in 78 he smiles at Yuya's dueling, which leaves us to believe that in 81 he's trying to convince himself that he doesn't have comrades by repeating it over and over again, when he actually does care for them, which is proven in 90.
Shun's development was too spread out and not focused on enough to be considered great, but it wasn't what I'd call "cheap." 105 just served to finish what was already setup.
Gon & Sawatari were absolutely useless though.
