Lucky Star is still fun as fuck to watch. Although it's mostly because it got such a damn good dub. I still will watch an episode or two at random when starting to get my drink on.
Lucky Star is still funny. You need to make a rewatch of more than the first four episodes, even back when it was new those episodes were not popular. It's still great comedy, and with nice characters.
If you want poorly aged Kyoani anime, try Kanon.

I haven't watched that much of it, but it seems like there are enough gems in the writing to string most people along.

I shit on Lucky Star for the longest time until I sat down and made it past the first episode. It's seriously a great SOL, better than most of Kyoani's newer shows for sure.

It didn't have a main story line, and the gags were simply random thoughts you sometimes have with your friends
Other Kyoani shows, or other shows in general, have a main story line or gags that are exclusive to the show, with unique characters and/or situations
Lucky Star is different, for the most part, its characters are very dull and plain, but still lovable
As mentioned earlier, the gags are the types of conversations you have with your friends, you have that "oh yeah I've thought about it too" moment
That's why you can't enjoy as much in a re-watch

If anything I think something with a strong linear plot has poorer rewatchability (unless you want to watch the entire thing, like a binge) than something that's episodic (or 4 koma).
I can watch most any episode of Lucky Star and enjoy myself. Where if I wanted to watch Spice & Wolf, I have to watch at least one arc, and if I watch one arc, I'm going to have to watch the whole season again, and if I watch season 1, I could not watch season 2, but at least the OVA. And then I remember I love season 2, and I want to watch that.

I rewatched it recently and I'd say it aged better than most stuff from its time. However, it's something that only "ages well" for someone who still remembers what it's referencing. It's not something that someone who started watching anime in in this decade and hasn't bothered diggin deep into the older stuff will be able to enjoy.

Lucky Star is funnier, and the whole thing about the girls seperating is still there, but it isn't bogged down by all the sentimentality in K-On. K-On is all pathos; it does nothing but play with people's feelings. K-On is amazing, and the final episode where they sang Azusa's song almost made me tear up, but Lucky Star made me laugh much more and I had just as much fun with it, and it didn't need to be so emotional in order for me to enjoy it.

I mentioned it precisely because it is a very common opinion.
And as I said, I enjoyed it a lot, but I think it simply isn't all that good when compared to other stuff. The dynamic the girls had with each other was fun, and seeing them get seperated is sad, but that's it really. The visual direction was ok, the humor a bit subpar, some songs were meh, some were amazing, and the story was alright.
The characters were extremely well-done, and it makes sense the story was as emotional as it was because they were leaving. I just didn't like the fact that the second season focused more on that sentimentality, instead of character interaction. I think that's cheap. I wanted to see more fun antics, with the seperation looming quietly over them, instead of being so present.

On my first LS rewatch. It definitely aged better than Haruhi, and I guarantee it aged better than Air or Kanon given the character designs of those two.

I like the humor in S2
better and I think that the characters interaction is betters mostly because they are used to each other eccentricities so instead of having "funny" awkward reactions they begin complement each other stupidity.
Take Mugi for example in S1 she was always the tame, rich girl and all her jokes consisted in lesbian jokes and the girls reacted with the typical sweat drop behind their heads. But in S2 you can see her playing pranks like tricking Azusa into believe that Sawachan was death. Granted is not extremely funny but in my opinion is an improvement over S1 hummor that relied mostly in funny sound effects and exaggerated reactions.
That being said I the humor in K-on is mostly there to keep an smile on your face instead of making you laugh out loud.

It's a reference comedy with some SoL. There's been dozens like it before and many hundreds after it. Some have had more memorable characters and the artsytle 'improved' or the BGs simply got better. Without the gay subtext it never would have lasted more than 6 months after the anime (an element MANY SoLs have done since to lure us in).
It's just not a remarkable series if you didn't watch it when it aired, it was a product of the moment for that moment.

I found Lucky Star to be boring and tedious. I just couldn't get past episode 13 and I pretty much forced myself to watch up till that far anyway. It's always the same stuff even for a slice of life. No originality aside from referencing outside anime. Maybe the artstyle made it dislike it.
