This ep was stupid. They managed to take down the Protoculture ship's shields with one Macross cannon attack and blast its main canons and bridge and they didnt continue fighting? They had the OTHER Macross cannon ship too. Not to mention their other beam cannons which damaged the Protoculture ship in the first place. There was no reason to "run" cause of the civilians. They were getting away on the Island by them selves. I really hate how they have to use "plot" and stuff to make the story last 2 cour. He's probably still behind Arad, but we hardly ever actually see what he's doing. It's not like any of the Chaos pilots are awful, by all appearances every one of them is an above average pilot by in world standards. Other than Keith they can keep up pretty well with the named Windmere pilots who all have superhuman physiology. They're certainly not on the level of the best pilots we've seen in the franchise, but saying they're not good doesn't seem accurate to me.
