I was expecting the ending to be a little more eventful, instead they just talk it out before anything cool happens. Also the kizna system failed and they kind of brushed it off in a way where it made everything they did pointless. Good visuals and music at least.

5/10. Acceptable, and the art is gorgeous, but it's almost offensive how many good concepts, ideas, and characters did almost nothing. The enjoyable first half is really what saves this anime from being awful. I still rate Mayoiga and the Ace Attorney anime lower, so it's definitely not the worst thing to come out of this season. The one thing Kiznaiver had going for it compared to the rest of the anime on this list is the animation. All the others had no fucking budget.
I liked the show but the last two episodes were really bad. It feel like they had no idea how to end it so they just made each characters having monologue about obvious things until they went out of time. Really anticlimactic, the whole kiznaiver plot feel unfinished.

An enjoyable and gorgeous show that does deliver some memorable scenes while incredibly lacking subtlety, even in said scenes.
Oh and Okada pulled out, yet again, convoluted and cryptic dialogues for a pretty straight-forward story, seemingly trying to make it look deeper than it actually is.

7/10 too. The direction was good, I was having a blast with the character interaction in the first few episodes, when the love drama hadn't hit yet. Visuals were nice, that one episode where Sonozaki's true personality is revealed was GOAT and while I want to say the music was good (mostly because of the opening song) I can't really recall any that I particularly liked. Also the story started getting convoluted towards the middle, they tried to do a lot of stuff but rushed everything to fit the 12 episodes schedule. The ending was too safe. No climax no nothing. Not the worse nor the best Okada's work. I feel that the shitstorm is only due it being a trigger show and Lulucofags are upset because their show wasn't as advertised as Kizna (not trying to start shit up, I plan to watch Luluco myself eventually).

What the fuck is wrong with Maki
This might just be nothing and something those of you that are Boom Boom Satellites listeners possibly already know, I was listening to Emergence, the last track on Shine Like a Billion Suns.
For some weird reason I felt like I could hear the same beat and rhythm as Lay Your Hands On Me in the track. So I opened them in audacity and played them together, obviously that was a miss. But I was curious anyway about the senseless vocals on the track, so I figured I'd reverse the track to see if I could make any sense of it. At 2:29 on the reversed track the lyrics from Blind Bird from the same album can be heard as below.

After this, the lyrics continue on, but they don't appear to match to the rest of the lyrics of Blind Bird as far as I can tell so I'm having trouble making sense of them.

Overall it was good, there were a few times when it was great but they were dragged down connecting sections that felt kind of weak and usually failed to make an impact. On the other hand it was beautifully animated (no surprises this is a Studio Trigger show) and the soundtrack was really strong as well, I’ll definitely be looking for it. the one major problem I had with this was that it's drama was focused in the wrong places.
The latter half of the show devolved into a bad love triangle(all love triangles are bad and tiring to watch) and the ending was disappointing.
Halfway through the show, I was thinking it would focus on other aspects of these characters, like their fears, parental issues, childhood traumas, ideals, guilt, or just different stresses like personal failings in school or work or whatnot.
What we actually got was, as mentioned before, a bad romance love triangle. It would have been fine if it wasnt JUST the love triangle, but it seemed like the show wanted to ignore the better plot threads it had, in an effort to promote it's poorly developed romance plots.
And it's because of this that I had a MASSIVELY hard time relating to most of the characters. Its not as though i've never been involved in a bad romance, but on one hand, I don't want to be reminded of that type of bullshit, and on the other hand, romance problems are so fucking irrelventant to my adult life and all my problems are so much bigger that it just gets annoying to watch these kids scramble about trying to understand how each other "feels".
The one stand out episode was the one focused on that lesbian chick and her osananajimi. If the show had been more of that, it would have been great.

I liked it. These guys basically did what people have been screaming at shoujo manga characters to do. And in a startling turn of events, played out the consequences rather straight. The love triangle was resolved in a few episodes instead of playing out over half the cour with a massive build-up of 'muh misunderstanding'. Unlike shoujo manga, getting rejected doesn't mean you can just cut your hair and everything will be fine. Shit hurts for everyone involved and feelings doesn't magically go away by the end of the week. It also gets bonus point for how they handle prying open someone's deep dark secret. Instead of scurrying around, finding bits and pieces of information, leading up to a huge misunderstanding, they just went and ask the people directly, and surprisingly, brought up the cons of doing things so bluntly. It was rather refreshing, and I've enjoyed it. So fuck the haters.
