pretty good
I still can't accept that Light who beat L would be defeated by a bunch of kids. The ending felt forced. Like the author made Light too good and didn't know how to make him lose believably.
10/10 for me. I legitimately couldn't predict what was going to happen. not even a vague idea and it really was hair raising towards the end.
I almost wish i could forget it and experience it all over again but id say the Characters alone make it re-watchable. fine soundtrack doesn't hurt too.

While I wouldn't say Rem helped him, he certainly had an advantage because of her.
You could argue that Rem was going to kill him if he couldn't save Misa, but the fact that he could L without learning his name because of Rem was advantageous.
