So there was a thread about this genre on /a/ yesterday. Lots of people said Re:Zero was the best of the "I've been transferred to a fantasy world" stories. Early today I decided to give the first episode a try.
For the first 20 minutes I was very tempted to drop it because of how irritating Subaru was being. I mean almost instantly being okay with changing worlds when you where just on a normal street? Totally went "ugh". Then the rest of the first episode happened and I'm about to start episode 11.
Damn I'm impressed. Tricked me into thinking the MC would get off adapting to things without any problems.
I think my favorite part is how the series handles credits. Fairly often it skips the end credit song. It never has a "next time" segment. There's no voice over explaining things or reflecting.
Anyway needed to get that off my chest. Thanks /a/. Will recommend this series to others.

Not all crushes develop within a span of months you know, as well as there have been many cases where people would crush over a person that they barely knew, Subaru is also equally guilty of this.

She did not HATE him in this loop. The Rem that killed Subaru in previous loops doesn't exist in this loop and therefore that hatred never existed. In this loop, Rem was suspicious of his behavior (especially in Episode 8), but she relaxed around him and started to trust him when she saw him cry on Emilia's lap and Emilia told her that he's a good person.

I don't think she loved him, but I think that Subaru's probably the sort of guy she likes. He's a pretty fun guy and plays along with their teasing, and he compliments her quite regularly.
Once she got over suspecting him, she probably just dropped her guard and stopped thinking that everything might be a trick. After that, she'd default to seeing him as a fun and likable guy she can tease and bully with her sister. However, he also raised his image by risking himself for her and showing his heroic and compassionate side despite being relatively weak.
Right now, Subaru looks like an all-around great and really cool and fun guy to her, and she probably regrets being so suspicious of him in the first place. This is where the crush would start up.

That's because of the Witch's scent, which was again, childhood trauma. But if we are going to branch of into that tangent I might as well state my case there as well. Due to having the Witch's scent is is basically the re-opening of old wounds, reactionary, sure, but considering what happened to her family and sister she more or less has the right to hate a person carrying it. The problem comes when that said person openly says he has said scent, therefore trusting her despite knowing that she probably hates him. Then came the fact he risked his life to save children, not to mention how he has shown to have been close enough to even know their names and aspirations, all of this while Rem is viewing his shaking hands, indicating that while he is terrified he is still risking his life to save them therefore making him a trustworthy person in her book. Then came the fact that he was ready to abandon his life protecting Meili, which Rem came to see in the nick of time. Even after all of that she hesitated on grabbing Subaru's hand, saving both of them when he pushed her out of the way from harm nearly having him die in the process. That in turn causes her to realise how horrible of a person she is considering her actions further increasing her emotional turmoil which Subaru effectively put to rest.

Ok, this is from arc 4 chp 110 - Reason to Believe. Source is Animesuki. Is an OTP scene between Subaru and EMT
it starts off with her surprised at him coming after her. She asks why is he there and if he's mad at her. He tells her it's because she is important to him and that he will never be mad at her. This causes her to grow angry at him instead, she suddenly asks why did he break their promise (to hold her hand and stay together until morning) even though he knew promises are important to her.
She breaks down while saying both Subaru and Pack are liars and breaks their promises while leaving her to go elsewhere. He looks into her eyes and sees the same emotion he felt before (probably when he felt like shit and was cheered up by Rem and saved by her words). He decided to say pretty much the same thing to her. He confesses that he loves her but she is just dumbfounded. She doesn't believe him and tells him to stop joking around but he continues on about her beautiful hair, gem-like eyes, lovely voice, and fair skin, etc and how she makes him go dokidoki. He loves everything about her. She doesn't believe him and wants to know why he keeps forgiving her. He says that he will always love her even if everyone else hates her and she hates herself. And the part I like, he says he sees all the good and bad in Emilia.
"You are......not an angel, nor a goddess, you are just a normal girl" he says she cries when experiencing bitter things and avoids stuff she hates. However he completely loves Emilia including all of her weaknesses. She gets angrier and says he's being too selfish. More "I love"s and "Liar"s. He says he believes in her because he loves her but she says love is not enough of a reason. Subaru says if love is not enough to believe in her then he wouldn't put up with all the hardships to come save "a troublesome woman like you". He loves her so much that he could die.

It's the memories of her past that she had Pack seal but it resurfaced after their spirit contract was severed.
Seeing that his words weren't getting through to Emilia, Subaru tells her that he will show her that he really loves her then. Both her voice and eyes tremble

There's something that has me rooting for Rem for some reason... Maybe it's cause, so far, we know more about her (her backstory, etc) than about Emilia. I see Rem as this sweet girl with low self-esteem that loves and supports Subaru no matter what, even if she's always going to be in the second place. Subaru also has his fair share of psychological issues and what he said about them leaning on each other proved that they'd be perfect for each other (see AU).
Meanwhile, Emilia seems pretty bland... just a "trophy" that Subaru needs to fight for. Or maybe it's cause a romance between Rem and Subaru would be more interesting than the typical male MC x female MC.
