It gives me that feeling too. Also next episode titles indicates that he is going to get focus like Messer with flashbacks and so on. I think he dies during Ragna's attack. He strickes me as someone who is going to get hit the most, because of Messer's death. Messer was the boy that he saved and most likely was ready gave his position to him if it would be possible.

The good guys are literally jobbers at this point since the plot armor for the Windermeme knights is pretty thick its like the staff has a directive that they can't die or be incapacitated.
I predict Hayate will make an impression on Keith while in battroid mode. Keith almost exclusively fights in fighter mode, and Messer was all too ready comply. Hayate's strong suit is battroid though, and I suspect it's Keith's weakest mode has he doesn't use it much.
