Episode 9 - The Era of Giant Gods
The helmet of Phantom Sword Claude left by Jin is secretly mass-produced for the purpose of regulating superhumans. When Jiro puts on the helmet for operating NUTS, he sees past images that were sealed away, as if he is being guided by residual thoughts. What is the ideal that superhumans should seek? And what is the role that Jiro has played? A terrible incident occurs at the NUTS exhibition in front of Yatsuka Heavy Industry, located in Marunouchi, the center of Tokyo. Superhumans start to take individual action in order to lay down the path for their own future.

I am so fucking ready for backstory! Bring it, Aikawa!
Everyone who wears the helmet becomes Revolutionary Claude, or rather, his digitized personality matrix.
Also, ConRevo Curry is now a thing.

That's old news from last year. I'm surprised nobody but me noticed it last season.
Macross Missile Massacre.
Or should I say
Michiko Missile Massacre?
>[HorribleSubs] Concrete Revolutio - 22 [720p].mkv
Subs out.
Hohohohoho, Jiro and Raito are now using the most forbidden technique of all.
>use the power of gattai, Raito. Fusion the plane with Jiro's Equus.
>you made that up on the spot, you fucking furry
UNION!
Little Boy.You killed Rainbow Knight.
It wasn't a conspiracy.
It was an accident.
It was a Little Boy losing control over himself.
Funny movie poster.
Real world historical events:
In Concrete Revolutio, the NUTS go out of control, and missile attacks cause the deaths of 8 people and 400 wounded by glass splitters.
In the real world, the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Headquarters bombing by the East Asia Anti-Japan Armed Front lead to the deaths of 8 people and 400 wounded by falling glass.
Last week, in Concrete Revolutio, Raito and Saki tried to destroy the NUTS which were transported by the Imperial Advertisement Agency Train.
In the real world, the East-Asian Anti-Japan Armed Front tried to blow up the bridge where Emperor Hirohito's train was passing.
Concrete Revolutio is the fictionalized story of an infamous terrorist cell that tried to change the world to become a better place, but ultimately only caused deaths and tragedy.
What a vamp.

Movie Hyouma-sempai has the funkiest hair.
So, how does the Equess is able to acquire the two legs and new visor for its head?
Fuck, I should have stayed away from the thread until my shitty internet finished the download.

Mass shifting.
Alternatively, nanomachines, because future technology provided by Hyouma.
Piss off!
This episode seemed to converge onto a lot more clarity
Shake your booty.
The dubstep in the OP was driving me crazy because it seemed so familiar and I think I've found what it's sampled from.
For comparison, here's a shitty youtube video of the OP
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cw5SuypmYDs&t=49s
Timestamp is 49 seconds, where the singer shouts "Unshake mind" and the dubstep kicks in
And this is what I think that bit sampled from, also timestamped to the relevant part
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2WT2hH36Ec&t=1m39s
I'm not certain that this is the source of the sample (it could just be something else that's also sampling it), but I feel pretty confident since "Unshake mind" seems to be a pretty blatant callout to the title of the song.
I just thought it was kind of neat because it's certainly not something I would've expected to hear in an anime OP.
Back then, gangsters could easily steal cybernetic giant apes to terrorize the world.
The legacy lives on.
Oh boy.Spoilered of course.
Mankind is not ready for it.

I love how Hyouma even made up a catchphrase for the combination, fucker really love him some super robots
>>142362729
It was pretty NUTS.
>>142362961
Hyouma is also a child at heart.
I'm disappointed that Jiro has never been shirtless.
>>142363117
All adults are like that.
They can't do right all the time.
They were never found again.
Perhaps.
That's the deal.
What was up with that?Isn't this thread slower than usual?
Cannot unsee it forever.
>>142363549
Probably wanted to cut any loose end if anyone want to investigate teito/imperial ads.
>>142363549
Satomi was prepared to execute her for having killed lots of people, but then stopped after reconsideration, since it was the grudge of Claude that made her go NUTS.
Also, everyone's still either asleep or at work or at school, depending on being an European or American.
He knew. For a long time now.
I love bootleg Raideen
>>142362568
So rather than being anti-superhuman for no reason, she was an idealist that believed in superhumans until her family went poof.
>>142363901
Everyone loves superhumans. Everyone admires them. Everyone wants to be like them.
What are your bets what Jirou's character arc will lead to?
Will Jirou grow up or maybe accept the Claude-like parts of his personality?
Looking pretty cool here jirou.
Everything sure has gone to shit. The public image of superhumans seems to be absolutely fucked.
I really don't want a "and then superhumans went away forever" ending.
For a propaganda movie, it certainly was very close to a documentary. Just with uh, artistic liberties taken.
You loved a monster.
>>142363961
But will be finally be shirtless?
>>142363696
>that made her go NUTS
Had a hearty chuckle
>>142363549
I thought he was going to kill her but then Satomi realized she's still useful.
>>142363957
Probably, of course in the end there will be a big sacrifice from one of the three, Emi, Kikko or Jirou himself, remember the second track from the ending single "THE LAST SONG", especially how now Teito has set the stage of turning everyone against Jirou and the Bureau
>>142364011
Funnily enough, Movie-Magotake and Movie-Emi are also kinda like Satomi and Michiko.
They mirror each another very well.
>>142363979
It will probably be something like the view of superhumans as justice incarnate that will be gone and they will see them as humans with the same flaws as them
>>142364182
I'd be okay with that.
>>142364178
Well you know that saying:"write what you know" and the movie being close to reality is thanks to Satome being directly involved with the whole thing
Is anything even Justice?

>Shinka 29 (1954)
After Jiro escapes with the help of Emi from his confinement, he is accidentally tripped by Emi, which makes him really angry. So angry, he manifests the invisible kaijuuzilla and rampages through Tokyo, causing the deaths of thousands.
>September in Shinka 33 (1958), Ikuta Labs
Satomi and Magotake talk about how the bomb became a little boy instead of destroying Hiroshima. Satomi is certain that if the bomb had worked as intended, they would have entered the atomic era. Master Ultima wants the power of that little boy. Magotake intends to pay him off with a cyborg-monster instead, which gets stolen by gangster armed with tommy-guns working for the international cabal.
>March in Shinka 38 (1963)
The Rainbow Knight dies because of a Little Boy.
>August in Shinka 49 (1974), Kachoudo
Jiro puts on the power helmet. The digitized personality matrix of Claude shows Jiro the truth that he has always denied to himself.
>August 30 in Shinka 49, the center of Tokyo
Raito and Shirota intend to destroy the NUTS for being a danger to the environment. The female pilots get overtaken by the grudge of Claude, and start losing control. Daitetsu is brought back by Fuurouta, who helps Shirota defeat two of the NUTS. Jiro then stops the final NUTS with the help of Reiichi.
>September in Shinka 49 (1975)
The NUTS are secretly disposed off.
>December in Shinka 49 (1974), Shibuya
"The great prophecy of Japan" airs, showing the whole truth (in a little dramatized manner).

Be more specific.
This episode was pretty clear on what happened.
>>142365128
>Raito and Shirota intend to destroy the NUTS for being a danger to the environment.

>>142365264
They probably planned to close them up in Shirota's containment thing that they end up putting 2 and 3 in, and then safely dispose of them somewhere else.
>>142365264
Perhaps Shirota would have made himself really big and then thrown the NUTS into the sun, while Raito keeps everyone away with his finger guns
Let's see, things that are going to happen in the next episode:
>Jaguar resigns from the Bureau
>Jiro confronts his father
>Emi goes fucking nuts
>Kikko imprisoned by either Emi or the gov't (out of fear either of her heritage generally or that psycho Emi will unseal Kikko's Queen persona, which would likely be hostile to them)

Feels bad.
Concetre Revolutio: The Line
AHA! She wasn't worried about unsealing the Queen due to the effect it might have on Kikko, but rather that doing so would void the contract she'd made with Jiro back during the Claude incidents and therefore free him up to pursue Kikko romantically.
>>142359794

>>142366435
Yes. Although it's more likely that Queen Hoshinoko would probably just abduct Jiro to her home dimension and mate furiously with him, which will spawn some unholy abomination from Hell that has the destructive nuclear power of Jiro and the magical might of the Witch Queen.
>>142366435
Well yeah, releasing it would just make Kikko become her full self and from the looks of it she was already going to unseal her real self when Jirou intervened because I think she now sees Kikko as a kindred soul as both are not humans and have to deal with human bullshit while trying to protect the man they love
>Jirou was the one who killed Rainbow Knight
>now everybody in Japan blames him for everything and despise him
Poor guy, he deserves a break from this hell.
I wonder what is everyone going to do know, they can't exactly fight their way toward superhuman acceptance anymore.Great episode, another 10/10 score for Concrete.

The Rainbow Knight tried to save them from the Japanese Government, who did plan to secretly experiment on them on behalf of the American Army, to turn them into machine-enhancing parts for American warmachines, power fuels, and new experimental technology to create American Supersoldiers.
>>142367222
How did you forget that part? They were being used for human experimentation. All the ones except Daitetsu and Jiro (who was adopted by the Prof) were subject to much worse things than we saw in this episode, melted down to make helmets, etc.

Jiro is nothing more but an abominable monster, who will spawn more terrible beasts who will cause havoc upon innocent humans.

Remember how because of him wanting to "free" american soldier, some innocent tourists were slaughtered?
Or how he wanted to protect field of flowers that turn humans into monsters?
Even with all of the revelation, I guess Teito still didn't found out about Rainbow Knight being a regular human yet? If so, will that play a part in the upcoming episodes.

>Earth-chan died in episode 13 when Jiro lost his way
>Earth-chan looks like she'll be dead again in episode 23 after Jiro learns that he was the demons all along
As the next episode looks like Kikko might play a more important role, this is what wikipedia can churn out for 1976 regarding magical girls.
>Majokko Megu-chan
>Megu-Chan follows the experiences of a powerful (but accident-prone) young witch who comes to Earth as part of her initiation into larger society. Megu is a contender for the throne of the Witch World but knows very little of human relationships. Sent to Mid-World (Earth) in her early teens, she is adopted by Mammi Kanzaki, a former witch who gave up her royal ambitions to wed a mortal. Mammi bewitches her husband and their two children, Rabi and Apo, into believing that Megu has always been the eldest child of the family (the concept of using magic to alter memory would turn up again in future magical girl series, such as Majokko Tickle and Sailor Moon). Under Mammi’s tutelage, Megu learns to control both her abilities and impulses in order to prove her worthiness for the crown.
>This rite-of-passage subtext is continued throughout the series. A free spirit in the purest sense of the word, Megu-chan discovers emotions she’d never known existed – loneliness, compassion, grief, love, desperation, and (perhaps most importantly) self-sacrifice. As the story progresses, she proves the nobility of her character through the various trials and tribulations of youth, evolving from a willful and rather selfish little girl into a kind, generous, loving young woman. She battles monsters, demons, and rival sorcerers (including her nemesis, Non), but quickly realizes that her true enemy is the darker side of human nature.
The Kikko-manga spin-off will apparently feature a rival magical girl named Chika, who is also a contender for the throne of the magical world.
I didn't really care for this show when S1 aired, I think I dropped it 3 episodes in. Recent posts on sakugabooru made me interested in it again. How good is it now? Should I pick it back up?

I kinda feel the opposite, I thought the season looked really good beforehand and got myself too hyped up, and really was left with just disappointment.
At least ConRevo's still been good, but now with the news it's ending two episodes shorter than I thought, I'm met with even more disappointment.
>>142371917
I have Food Wars and both DR3 series next season, so I'm probably going to do okay.
>>142373005
Well, now you know to be more cautious, and knowing is half the battle.

>>142373058
The problem is I do this to myself at least every other season. Part of the reason I liked last season so much was probably just because I had almost zero hype for anything airing in it.
I'm also hyped for almost nothing next season, so at least there's only a small chance of disappointment.
>>142373003
That explains the occasional overly kind poster.
>>142373005
Oh, really? I got all hyped up for this season and in the end it was a lot better than I expected. The only reason I dropped shows this time was because I didn't have time to watch them.

>>142368187
We'll still have a few threads every now and then.
It'll go down the same as Space Dandy, a thread will spring up, everyone will talk about the fond memories and best episodes, it'll reach 300-400 posts, die down and get archived. Rinse and repeat.

I dont want it to end
>>142374456
I do think that there's a 50% chance that Kikko's not a virgin anymore either.
After all, when the drugs and her witnessing the bloodshed triggered her transformation into the devil queen, she saw Jin/Claude as her ideal mate. No way could such a literal succubus like her not having wanted to fuck the shit out of him when she's believing him to be her dream husbando Jiro.
Unless her devil queen persona is really a sticker for THE RULES and was waiting for the official wedding before consummating their marriage.
>hey, Kikko, you wanna see my awesome metallic boner?
>nay, sire Jiro, thou shallst wait before laying thine hands upon me, for first, we musteth fulfill thine desire to bringeth the justice, freedom and peace into this sinful world of yore
>bitch, stop calling me Jiro all the fucking time, I told you a hundred times already, I'm Jin, JIN, get it? And let me fuck you already. God, this is making me crazy

>>142374267
>it'll reach 300-400 posts
That's incredibly optimistic for a show like this.
I doubt the threads will break 200. Not a whole ton of people are actually watching this.
Maybe if we JUSTICE enough, there's going to be a third season.
>>142376395
Superhumans ceased to exist by 1975. There ain't no JUSTICE anymore.
Satomi won. There was nothing anybody could do against him. You cannot win against someone who is at the right time at the right place hearing the right thing and knowing the right people for the right price.

I get the feeling that this doesn't work most of the time.
Why the hell does this idiot still employ these two? They literally recorded him admitting he's a superhuman and tried to have removed from office by publicly revealing that information. And he knows that, since they've literally shown him the tape?
would you a youkai?
>>142378264
No. Kikko is better. I want the queen.
>>142378154
The Imperial Ads Agency was still the only media corporation willing to work with him and spin things as positively as possible. He needed them, they still needed his influence and patronage to control superhumans, even although both sides really didn't want to work with each another anymore.
Realpolitics makes for strange bedfellows. Can't choose your allies, so you'll have to do with your enemy.
Same deal with how the Imperial Ads Agency works together with the Superhuman Bureau, despite both sides actually being antagonistic to each another. Or how the police must work together with the army despite both sides hating each others guts.
After the oil crisis, the Imperial Advertisement Agency however needed something far juicier than the revelation that the premierminister might be a superhuman with limited mindcontrol-powers. A corruption scandal is far better than that.

>>142379308
It makes no sense why's they make him the leader of the "bad guys" in the movie. He worked with the US Army, with the Japanese government, with the Superhuman Bureau, all so they'd let him do SCIENCE!!! He's and enabler and a sell out.
>>142379456
He was always sketchy as fuck, never liked him.
>>142379353
The show is quite simple.
Young political students with heavy leanings towards communism wanted to change Japan to become a better place, but they utterly failed, and became radical anarchist-terrorists who started fighting among themselves, killing each another about the question how to save Nippon, committed acts of vandalism and terrorism, and then got ultimately defeated by the government.
Jiro Hitoyoshi and the superhumans are the stand-in for these communistic terrorist-anarchists.
They wanted to be heroes.
They became Evil instead.
>>142379456
So he's a triple traitor.
>>142379456
>Shelters the bureau
>Father to Jiro
Magotake is a thorn to Satomi even if they had something like a friendly relationship before. Maybe Magotake is the only one which Satomi considers on his level.
>>142379132
Satomi please
I hope the ending won't be rushed.
I feel like there is still a lot of stuff left explore.
>>142379617
The superhumans basically stand in for every zeitgeist in post-WW2 20th century history.
They're the controversial new power source for US military submarines
They're the unstable veterans of an extremely unpopular war which were hidden among various foreign military bases so everyone could pretend they didn't really exist
They're the root cause, instigators and primary issue of Paris '68
And they're surrounding, causing, or related to every single event in Japanese politics in some way or another.
>>142379811
I had hope when I thought we still had four episodes left. I don't really have much hope for anything other than a rushed ending at this point though. Even the final arc of S1 was three episodes.
>>142375252
>a sticker for THE RULES
Come on, now. She obviously is. Every line of characterization we have from the Queen persona outside of "I shall protect Jiro-san!" is about lawfulness.
>>142363979
>>142364182
>>142376547
Didn't Jaguar say he's from a time where there are no more superhumans? So superhumans are gone regardless of which side wins. I think this is likely to set up the scenario where "superhumans" are gone because "superhumans" are ideals, not people and all these years of strife end with them being accepted as just humans.
>>142376547
Demon Queen Kikko will end up determining by the end that humanity doesn't want or isn't worthy of superhumans, and will therefore take all the supers who haven't been genocided and whatever factor in humanity it is that causes powers to manifest with her in her comet mothership when it's time for her to leave.
>Comet Ikeya–Seki, formally designated C/1965 S1, 1965 VIII, and 1965f, was a long-period comet discovered independently by Kaoru Ikeya and Tsutomu Seki. First observed as a faint telescopic object on September 18, 1965, the first calculations of its orbit suggested that on October 21, it would pass just 450,000 km above the Sun's surface, and would probably become extremely bright.
>Comets can defy such predictions, but Ikeya–Seki performed as expected. As it approached perihelion observers reported that it was clearly visible in the daytime sky next to the Sun. In Japan, where it reached perihelion at local noon, it was seen shining at magnitude −10. It proved to be one of the brightest comets seen in the last thousand years, and is sometimes known as the Great Comet of 1965.
>The comet was seen to break into three pieces just before its perihelion passage. The three pieces continued in almost identical orbits, and the comet re-appeared in the morning sky in late October, showing a very bright tail. By early 1966, it had faded from view as it receded into the outer solar system.
>Ikeya–Seki is a member of the Kreutz sungrazers, which are suggested to be fragments of a large comet which broke up in 1106.
>>142373005
I'm a bit the same, mostly because I thought some of the timeskip stuff would be taken in a more serious manner and with more adversity. I seriously thought Raito died when he and Jiro fought in episode 3(?), and Jiro and the Bureau had become extreme enemy's. Turns out Jiro was just gray and the Bureau was mostly ok with it, everything else was damn good though.
Two questions:
Why did Emi pull the tiger doll out? What was she thinking about?
There was a scene of the kids being injected with Jirou's blood. Did we see that before? I think one of them was Claude.
>>142379811
Many things in the show will remain unresolved, just like in the real world.
There will be no epic battle against Master Ultima and the US Army, for the US Army is not the antagonist. There is no good or evil. Not anymore. There is no simple evil organization that is to blame for everything bad in the world that one needs to defeat and then there is an happy end for everyone, because nothing ever ends, and nations and their respective governments are actually acting in the best interests of the people they represent as best as they can (some corruption here and there, but ultimately, it's all for the greater good - some sacrifices must be made, of course). It's not just US vs. THEM anymore. It's also how to deal with eco-pollution. How to deal with banal things like social injustice and bigotry born from tradition. How to help those who lost their homes in floods. How to help people starving from a drought. The issues today are greater than ever before.
After all, life is ultimately nothing more but a phantasmagoria.
> Full Definition of phantasmagoria according to Myriam-Webster
>1: an exhibition of optical effects and illusions
>2a: a constantly shifting complex succession of things seen or imagined
>2b: a scene that constantly changes
>3: a bizarre or fantastic combination, collection, or assemblage
Yesterday, I was a vigorous political activist who wanted to make the world a better place.
Today, I am a hardworking sarariman who just want to make ends meet.
Tomorrow, I am an old geezer looking back and wondering what legacy I will leave to the young ones dreaming how to make a better tomorrow for their children.
Thus, the only thing that remains is the hope that those after us learn from our mistakes, and do it hopefully better.
>>142380619
The plush tiger is where she has Hoshinoko's demon essence stored. If Emi were to break it, Kikko would have regained her full powers and perhaps would have been able to deal better with NUTS-1.
The kids weren't injected with Jiro's blood, their blood was taken from them for tests.
>>142379920
That is true. Superhumans are ideals and symbols.
>>142380648
Nicely said anon
>>142380619
1) Releasing Kikko's more powerful alter ego in order to save her, since it looked for a while like she was going to be defeated by the NUTS (hee hee).
2) I think I saw a young Jin as well, but we didn't see that particular scene until the end of last week's episode.
>>142381034
The one waving towards Jiro was Jin/Phantom Sword Claude.
>>142381034
Now I wonder what the tiger power does specifically. She's still able to use all her old magic. What we know for certain is it prevents her from aging and makes her a princess.
This time on ConRevo: Women go crazy with these NUTS
>>142381212
She has more powers like that sword. The tiger is a doll and one supernatural phenomenon used by Emi.
>>142380389
The problem is, there are other nations with their own superhumans who might not want to leave Earth, because they aren't necessarily mistreated.
Master Ultima will definitely try to stay on Earth to help America. The J.O.E.s will fight for American freedom and sacrifice their bodies to ensure the American Way of Life. The second world will also have its shares of patriotic defenders. The genies and rukhs and other mystical pre-human beings might try to stay in this world, hidden from human eyes as best as possible, and only intervening once it is inevitable for their kind.
It would need a truly mighty wish by the vast majority of humanity to give Demon Queen Hoshinoko the power to take all the superhumans with her.
It's not impossible, though. After all, perhaps that is ultimately what mankind wants.

I dont get it, did Jiro turn out to be the bad guy?
>>142362283
You know you're in the 50s when you can randomly hula-hoop with someone in your bedroom for no reason
>>142384049
The Claude persona that got digitized into all the helmets is the image of Jirou the way Jin idolized him. So the bad guy is Jirou's naive ideals about justice rather than a real person I guess.

>>142384843
They are superhuman probably.
>>142384843
Because they still believe in justice.
Man, I don't know how to feel about Jacky.
At first I thought that she just stabbed the other Angel Stars in the back for a lucrative solo career and was basically Satomi's heavy.
But her Claude sequence makes it seem like she's not exactly doing it out of her own free will and was happier with her band.
>>142384647
>>142384843
Just rewatched that too and what are these? Seems Emi decided to change her appearance from a child to an adult after seeing it. Her mom perhaps?
>>142384985
Her description on the ConRevo-site mentions that she's brainwashed by Satomi.
>>142385149
No. Just pretty cards. It does however signify a shift from Emi being Jiro's cute little same-aged friend to becoming a big sister-type woman.
Either Emi just wanted to become an adult because that's just how she rolls, or perhaps she wanted to atone for accidentally making Jiro go naked fury upon Tokyo and burning everything, by becoming a reliable adult.
>that rainbow knight movie and flashback
You just want to save kids from corrupt govt and a big misunderstanding leaves your name mostly tarnished, all the kids fucked, you dead and a fan going nuclear then traumatised by it.
>>142385376
Well, at least the movie redeems the Rainbow Knight's name again.
>>142385450
But it breaks the Jirou and makes everyone hates him.
I'm happy for Rainbow Knight name being cleansed, but Jirou's name being tarnished forever in a process is a price too high to pay.
>>142385450
But is it truly just?
Like before, he's being used as a propaganda machine to further a guy's goal.

The only music-thing announced is the next composite album which will come out at the end of June.
Maybe there will be a third season
>>142362312

>>142387210
It doesn't look like it.
Justice is over with Fall.
Was there an explanation on why the kids were tied up? That still made no sense to me.
>>142384049
At the very least, two of the most clearly bad guy things we've seen done so far- the framing and murder of rainbow knight and the corrupting claude helmets- have turned out to be not as evil as they seemed, and, either mostly Jirou's fault or not at all intentional
>>142381367
Yeah but one of the themes in the anime is how you cannot please everyone so she might take every single one of them for their own good fully separating them from humans, sort of like the Devil Tribe did
What's the historical movie release that this episode used?
>>142384985
It could be that she somewhat stabbed the band in the back for a solo career after being sweet talked, then Satomi brainwashed her into becoming her heavy, when she originally just intended to be a musician for him. The delusion with her band, then, would be her regretting her decision and missing the band
>>142387673
They have to eat the bread.
>>142387673
I guess they still struggled and didn't want to leave the labs. The Rainbow Knight probably kept them tied up and gagged so that they wouldn't run away and scream for help for their own safety, went to buy groceries to earn their trust.
Then when everything was explained how he wasn't the bad guy and how he would actually save them from the government, comes in Jiro, sees them still bound and gagged, gets angry and starts burning up, and the Rainbow Knight has to act quickly and try to get Jiro away from the kids before he starts burning up everything.
Bad timing.
>>142387810
No idea, the only thing I can think of is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godzilla_vs._Mechagodzilla but it's just a wild guess.
I pray to god the series didn't peak in this webm. Please prove me wrong, last two episodes.

>8 dead
>>142390523
If they build the Emi arc into what's currently happening, plus heavily involve Jirou, Jirou's father, and Kikko, and pace it quickly, I could see it working well and flowing into a strong finish, but I can definitely see where you're coming from with worrying.
Also, we had bits and pieces of Emi development in those two guest episodes that focused on youkai

And at least 376 wounded. Most of them probably rather through the missile attack's shockwaves instead of falling glass debris, since Earth-chan managed to blow most of the glass shards away before they could inflict too many damage.
>>142401367
>Blow glass away
>Carpet the nearby area with glass
Fucking smart Earth-chan
I don't really understand how the superhumans got blamed for everything this time, when it was pretty clear that the NUTS were the ones going wild. Especially when it was clear that Earth-chan was the one that saved most of the people.
I guess Satomi controls enough of the media to dictate the narrative.
>>142402581
Satomi did intend to let the Jiro League-members trash up the NUTS and then blame their inefficiency on the TRIES Corporation that sold them to Imperial Ads Agency. Too bad that the personality matrix of Claude took hold over its pilots and made them go berserk.
However, the Imperial Ads is a powerful media corporation, so they could definitely at least spin it that NUTS-2 and NUTS-3 did try to attack the criminal space titan Grosse Augen. NUTS-1 could be explained by having faulty targeting systems.
Might be more difficult to explain the REX-FE attacking its own allies and actually helping Grosse Augen, though.
Fortunately, the big movie will and did divert all attention from the NUTS fiasco.
And nobody will be able to really examine if the claims about the NUTS being unreliable is true, now that they're conveniently washed away in the floods.

This is Daitetsu, playing Jiro in the movie, right?

>had a good job
>had a smoking hot girlfriend
>had a young groupie enamored with him
>had a cool senpai building him awesome gadgets
>had a young junior looking up to him
>had a cool gramps who was fond of him
Now he's a hobo, has to eat ramen junkfood, has to argue with his frenemy about if he gets to watch TV, everyone shits upon him for having accomplished nothing, everyone mocks his justice, his idea of justice when peeled back to its core is actually radical-anarchistic vigilantism and he learned that he suppressed the fact that he personally killed justice.
At least he still has his car, I guess.
I just want Shirota to have a good end but I get the feeling he's going to heroically sacrifice himself. Earth-chan too probably.

I'm happy as long as Fuurouta manages to make it alive.

I'm honestly surprised so few people actually watch this. I guess it's probably due to the time jumping?
>>142424764
He's bound to have something for the finale.
>>142424766
93 is a lot for a show like this, its not easy to keep up with the story
>>142424766
It doesn't have much of a hook. The quality of each episode varies wildly and the misses tend to be big misses. It's obviously not building up to a satisfying ending since it's a 2cours BONES original. Writing has generally been mediocre, pacing for individual episodes tends to be so breakneck fast that it borders incoherence, moments of actually well-done action scenes are rare and most of the animation is unimpressive.
Plus the characters are painfully static. In 2 cours, the only character who has changed at all is Jiro, and he's regressed from a conflicted but capable government agent to a bumbling manchild desperately trying to cover over his own fuckups.
If you aren't in this for the references or the occasional sakuga explosion, there really isn't much appeal.
Did anyone else catch this? I don't recall seeing Emi in episode 8 near the scene, or was Jiro remembering things incorrectly? I don't think Emi would take on the professor's face just to retrieve Jiro from the scene...
>>142424996
>In 2 cours, the only character who has changed at all is Jiro
You can't be serious with this.
>>142425347
Misremembering probably. Why did Jirou lose his memory anyway?
>>142427819
Dunno, maybe not wanting to be the one who killed JUSTICE aka Rainbow Knight.
That way he had his loving papa find him when he tries to save his idol, so it's all good.
Weekly reminder that Jirou is best boy and JUSTICE.
>>142421385
The Three Birdmen and Devilo and Devila killed the interest of a lot of people.
>>142424996
>and he's regressed from a conflicted but capable government agent to a bumbling manchild desperately trying to cover over his own fuckups.
I would say he has evolved, but whatever.
>>142428574
The Devilo and Devila episode was quite bad and pointless.
>>142428688
Devilo and Devila was good, if a little strange and somewhat pointless, indeed. But the 3 birdmen episode was, by far, the worst CR episode. Not only it was totally pointless, but the art and animation was atrocious, a lot of off model shots and QUALITY.
>>142414075
He seems to be losing interest in Earth-chan though.
>>142428574
The devil episode was actually pretty underrated. I personally disliked the one with the iron samurai or whatever she was called
I think everyone agrees that the three birdmen were plain bad though.
>>142429276
He's slowly becoming a legit evil genius.
>>142429276
He was such a cute shota.
>>142428574
Three Birdmen was definitely a weak episode, but I enjoyed it.
>>142429988
Was;_;
The only good minor character from this cour was ningenman.
>>142433614
Take that back, motherfucker
>>142433680
Will she reappear or was she a 1 episode person after all? I don't expect we'll see any more of the ski jumpers, the underground youkai, ningenman, or the US cyborgs.
>>142433936
I don't think they'll be back either.
Movie Magotake seemed to be at least partially based on Professor Shinigami from the original Rider series. The style of the text that appeared through the movie also was very similar to episode titles in the original series.
>>142425347
This is his school uniform or something similar, right? I didn't notice it until now, but the symbol on the collar is precisely the same as pic related. COINCIDENCE?
Pffft, I never noticed Kikko was using an abacus here. Wow, Kikko.
>>142436387
Now that would be extremely impressive if it somehow turns out that Hoshinoko's meteor tail sword and Jiro's high school uniform insignia were to be somewhat related.
>Jiro is actually the infant prince of the magical kingdom
>he was sent to the world of humans to learn human emotions
>a magical dragonstork was bringing him to foster parents
>but the dragonstork crashed into the Enola Gay, and the baby miraculously survived by absorbing the dragonstork's soul and the bomb's nuclear power
>Jiro was just Kikko's onii-sama
>>142436598
Don't forget, she calculated that these kinds of superrobots don't make sense. Too small, not enough place for an engine.
She's weirdly smart in unexpected ways.
The Emi in this flashback and the Emi in ep 22's flashback have differently colored scarves. Nice touch.
>>142425347
>>142436387
Ah, but wait! The symbol is completely different in this short sequence of Jiro running through a graveyard! Which means, either that sequence (which cuts to Rainbow Knight's death after a white flash) is a false recollection, or it's a completely different suppressed memory that we haven't seen yet. There are also no graves to speak of during the sequence in episode 22 when Rainbow Knight is running with Jiro.
>>142437246
Might be Yokai-related, being a graveyard and all.
>>142391895
"Godzilla is the son of the atomic bomb. He is a nightmare created out of the darkness of the human soul. He is the sacred beast of the apocalypse."

I think that jiro’s nuke dinosaur thingie is supposed to be godzilla, mother of all kaiju.
>>142439026
Well it clearly is, but I wasn't aware of that quote n
HA HA, TIME FOR AN APOCALYPSE FINALE! (If applied metaphorically, that could also reference superhumans "disappearing" later on in history)
>>142436387
Or it could just be lazy lining. His insignia's outline is kind of circular in >>142437246
Man. This is show is literally
>KISAMA, ARE YOU GOOD OR EVIL?!
>NEITHER, I'MCOMPLETELY NUTS!
>>142440711
It would have been a lot easier for them to just do the character in the center of the insignia than try to get the circle at the right angle each time, though.
Curious to see how opinion of this show will change once it starts getting watched by people who didn't try it until after it finishes.
I unabashedly love it, but it's definitely a weird show to keep up with for weekly viewing, and undeniably has some pretty weak episodes. Someone who's able to watch the whole thing in a short timeframe might have a completely different view of it.
>>142438778
I thought the graveyard scene was him running to the place Rainbow Knight kept the kids, and ep 22's scene was Jiro and Rainbow Knight running away from it. Plus the angle was tilted up.
Though it still leaves the question of why Jiro's memory was suppressed. Emi/youkais may have done it after she found him.
>>142441432
I don't watch it weekly but rather wait for a few episodes to pile up and then marathon them to catch up. This is the kind of show I couldn't really enjoy watching weekly. As you said, some of the episodes are really weak and when you pull a bad one it just leaves a sour taste in your mouth. Watching them back to back really smooths that over and helps make the standalone episodes feel more connected to one another.
>That movie
Damn it Mizushima you did it again
>>142387673
Wait a second, that was Jin. I forgot he was kidnapped as well. Jin knew it was Jiro who did it all along. That fucker.
>>142441432
I'd definitely recommend any potential waters to skip the filler episodes because they are really shit.
>>142443793
>waters
watchers
>>142441432
To be honest, Birdmen episode made me bored. Then Devila almost made me drop this show.
You can say that I was saved by Ningen-man.
I find it hard to believe people think we'll never see some of the episodic characters again, after the first cour's finale used basically all of the ones up to that point.
Devila and Devilo might be difficult after they fucked off for outer space, though.
>>142443963
I wonder if the ninja corps will be redeemed by the end.
>series is a tv original
>look at these fillers guise
Shame.
>>142444370
The word filler has completely lost any meaning in anime discussion, really. Now it just gets tossed around at any episode or plotline people don't care for.
>>142444477
It's unfortunate, but it is what it is.
This is something I've noticed for years now. It won't go away, there will always be one faggot talking about how this and that is filler because it wasn't an episode about the MC fighting the main antagonist.
>>142371917
>Active Raid
It's totally okay, but not necessarily the same as this.
>>142441432
I can't watch it with fresh eyes, but marathoning cour one as I was hyping up for this cour was excellent.
>>142441432
Honestly, I saw it all recently and noticed that there are actually only a few episodes I could call weak, like the comedy superhuman episode or the birdmans episode.
What's more, I think they are outweighed by the good episodes like Nigen-man, Angel Stars lesbian member or the last one.
Seeing it all in a small frame of time has improved my opinion of the show. Though, I still fear for how the ending is gonna be handled.
>>142379811
It's BONES
They're totally going to fuck up and rush the ending up like they always do
How long until Japan receives justice
>>142449281
Hey now, their last original before ConRevo had a good and satisfying ending. BONES can do endings okay sometimes.At least let me hope, anon. ;_;
>>142444597
While some "filler" episodes were weak they do provide some development for main characters but they also provide a lot of worldbuilding which is really interesting and nice.
I dont get people who hate them
And as you said, filler lost all of it's original meaning.
>>142449281
I don't know, I think Bones didn't fuck up much with this show and I'm certain this will have a nice ending.
If they aren't going to wrap it all up in two episodes then we can expect an OVA or even S3. They can't leave us hanging, right?Right? ;_;
>>142453140
Everything is possible.
>>142414075
Why is Earth-chan colored like Germany or Belgium?
>>142359794
Holy fuck I'm crying.
THIS EPISODE!
THIS SERIES!
THANK YOU BONES! THIS SERIES IS EVERYTHING I HOPED FOR!
>>142453453
Perhaps Judas had to buy spare parts from Europe to rebuild her.
It might be a worn-out ending but Jiro dying Lelouch-style would be a perfect fit for this series.
The man who was tricked and cheated and lied into killing his hero, and whose blood was used to make terrible monsters but also the man who gave up everything to fight for justice, dies fighting huge and fearful odds to preserve peace and to demonstrate that if superhumans and humans unite for the same cause, they can bring peace upon the world.
>>142454122
I could also see a sad ending to be possible.
After the revelations and seeing the futility of trying to fight against the media, he simply stops, and becomes a sad jaded old man, working as a sarariman, writing autobiographical books about how he wanted to be justice, but couldn't do it.
Perhaps he'll even go to jail, serve his sentence, and in there he writes his memoires and essays about the history of the 60s and 70s. A book named Concrete Revolutio - A superhuman phantasmagoria.
It sells low, and few people care for it.

>>142444477
They aren't filler episodes but they're self-contained and don't contribute to the main story, and on top of that they usually aren't very good. So it's easy to see why people would call them fillers.
This episode marks the end of Jiro's 30 year old childhood.
Now he is ready to become a true adult.
This is his victory.
Sleep forever, Concrete Revolutio thread.
>>142461062
Most of them have character growth and amount to world building and it's where the whole conflict and main story comes from.
