Let this be a lesson to all you nostalgiafags who like DM, GX, 5DS and ZEXAL. They are all shit series in comparison to ARC-V with poorly written narrative, characters, and duels. The new movie is complete Naruto-tier trash that stole our budget. This is budget that could've been used to improve animation and pay expensive voice actors like Hosoya so we could be blessed with more ZA PERFECT. ARC-V is so close to being NGE level of perfection and it would have surpassed it if it wasn't for nostalgia. If you want to talk about your shit series go do it in another thread because this is an ARC-V thread and you can't talk about anything else other than ARC-V.

If I thought the show was too abysmal to keep watching, I would already be gone. I still hold out some hope that bigger duels later on and the one this week are at least decent. My standards and taste tends to not be too high or strict for me to enjoy something, but I can also recognize where I think things could be better.
The Jack vs Yuya finale duel of Synchro wasn't bad by any stretch when it comes to just the visual presentation. But it just doesn't match up at all to past series' important duels, like Yusei vs Harald or Shark vs IV.
Even trying to ignore the bad animation and looking at the storyboarding, the direction of the camera angles and shots are overall not as dynamic or impactful as even Zexal. Zexal tended to abuse double-dipped pan shots, but the visual storyboarding was competent.

5Ds has an amazing first 60 some odd episodes before falling off really hard and destroying characters for comedy
Zexal starts off slow but picks up later on. The main character is pretty disliked but the rivals and the rest of the cast are great.
Arc-V starts off strong then gets bad. Really mishandles characters and the protagonist is starting to annoy people. It's hit or miss. The show is honestly in a tailspin. If you don't like the main character, a certain returning Zexal character or Birdman then you'll hate the show in the later stages. Everyone else is treated like shit.

5D's is worth watching, though the second half isn't as good as the first. ZEXAL is the reverse, the first half is pretty bad but the second is tolerable if not particularly great.
Arc-V is very good, but has suffered from a particularly slow arc up till about 2 months ago, though I'm sure marathoning it makes it a lot more tolerable.
Stick with GX as well, in its second half it gets pretty intense.
I'd say give them all a shot, with the advice that some of them (notably ZEXAL and Arc-V) take a while to get really serious. But if you can deal with GX season 1, I guess you can probably handle anything.

Synchro was a lot of fun though. I liked watching Yuya try to up his entame game while Roger spent time keikakuing in the background
XYZ is kinda dull at the moment though since it feels like the show is meandering a bit. In synchro, it felt like things were moving albeit slowly, and what other time was spent was spent with worldbuilding or introspection which felt worthwhile to establish the distinctions between worlds. Watching it week by week was torture, but I was always interested with what was happening.
Here, aside the Yuto stuff and Shun finally tying his character arc in a nice little bow, it feels like we're just kinda waiting around until the plot comes to pick up yuya from his temporary stopover in the wasteland that we learned almost everything about in Standard and Synchro.

This part isn't inherently wrong, but you list all the wrong reasons based on your own speculation and wishful thinking backed up with no evidence. This is either b8 or you're just retarded.
When it comes to characters, Arc-V's biggest crimes is probably not letting the main cast interact with each other nearly as much as they could. The Lancers are supposed to be a team, and yet so much of their time is spent dealing with literally whos or characters that are mostly unlikable and inconsequential.
While characters like Reira, Shun, and Sora do change and get some spotlight, there's Sawatari and Gon hovering on the fringes being useless. Often, a lot of the character development that goes on just isn't that engaging or satisfying to watch, like the turn Shun had in his duel with Crow. Sora did a lot of his offscreen.

What has Yuya lost? This show has no weight to it at all. Not even scares. Jonouchi nearly dying against Malik was more than this show. The flames burning his body and his heart stopping was crazy. Same with Kaiser's heart giving out or Jim getting killed by Judai and his eye rolling out. This show is the most childish by far. Even Kaito dying on the moon was more hardcore than this and we all knew his ass was coming back. It was an emotional moment. Arc-V doesn't have that.
