Appleseed is too pretentious, with a muddled plot and inconsistent art. Tank Police is meant to be comedy/slapstick, but misses the mark. GitS is overall his best work. It has all his best ideas and art, but also suffers from all the same negative traits seen in every title he has released. His biggest weakness is cluttered page layouts which are awkward to follow.

I have gigabytes of work I've spent my life developing including unpublished manuscripts, code snippets (though I really should start uploading that stuff), art and references, and training notes.
If my house burned down tomorrow I could replicate any of this stuff in a heartbeat and it would probably turn out better than what I had.
An example. I've been working on this indie game for the past 6 months and the code was all over the place (but it worked). I client asked me for a mock-up of another game, which was similar to what I was working on. In three days I built the mock-up which was a thousand times more elegant and worked more efficiently than what I had been working on.
Art is ephemeral. If you hold onto it, it will only stagnate. I regularly destroy my notes and old work to clear my mind and my spirit.
If you can't do this, your craft will never grow.
