Gumshoe respects Edgeworth so much because Edgeworth is only one who still puts faith in police work. Movie had a very good scene explaining Dick's respect for Edgeworth, but movie also made everyone a bit mature, including Gumshoe, which is a bit out of character.

From what I understand from Gyakuten Kenji 2 while he somewhat forced an innocent man to confess,he didn't forge the evidence (Bansai did) and may didn't even know about it. It's the most fan-servicey game of the original trilogy.
2 of the cases are prequel cases where you play as a young Mia.
2 of the cases are filler, but they're pretty funny/wacky filler (one has some guy pretend to be Phoenix, fake badge and all, and the other has one of the funniest characters in the series imo).
The last case is yet another big sprawling "everything is connected" super case, as you'd expect after playing game 1/2, but it also ties up various loose ends that were introduced in game 1/2 AND ties into the 2 prequel cases, so it feels very rewarding (and even more rewarding after playing game 1/2).
Just a reminder that everything started with this guy wanting to win a pie contest.

Dumbness aside, I really loved the idea of gathering information in the present to use it on the past and vice-versa, and you aren't really traveling through time anyway (it's just a recording of everything Phoenix did during those 7 years and you're just going through it) so I wouldn't pick on that point. And then connecting the cases, the Apollo/Trucy reveal, and everything that happened in the last case, I don't know, I just really enjoyed it as a whole.

The only things that bugged me were the half-assed samurai stitch, apparently he was supposed to a have a sword, but it was removed since carrying them is illegal. That third case wasn't all that horrible either simply because of how many twists it had, in my opinion, and needing to watch the video or the recordings over and over again wasn't an issue for me because I was paying close attention, as far as I remember. The second case though got me so lazy at the start of the second day that it made me put the game down for a few years.

I recently played it on a laptop with loonix. It's tolerable if you turn on the automatic frameskip, but you have to blow the mic in the last case and the linux build of desmume doesn't support the mic so I had to watch the last 50 minutes or so from youtube. Desmume developers literally said in their FAQ that they are adding "features" over doing even basic optimization, so it runs on 40FPS unless you have a new CPU which is retarded.
I think I2 and TT are the only games that properly tie all cases together.

As for the video and music, I didn't have to replay them a billion times because as I said, I was paying enough attention to notice the parts that needed to be presented. I was afraid as fuck of having to repeat them until I died but it really wasn't a big issue in the end, to my surprise.

I can see where you're coming from, but for me it always looked like he had to release his anger in some way, without attacking Dahlia outright. He could've also punched the desk or scream, but that wouldn't fit his character gimmick with the coffee.
I think it adds a lot to his characterization, not unlike Phoenix who ran to the burning bridge without a second thought when he thought Maya was in danger.
It's because of moments like this that make me like AA. There is thought put behind the actions of the characters.
