It's like how in Cowboy Bebop's original dub everyone spoke Japanese, but none of the characters themselves can speak Japanese in-story. That's not a plothole, it's just a fucking translation so the viewer can understand the show. Don't pretend for a second that every show with a magic world would be better if all the characters spoke gibberish and you had to use subtitles to understand everything, without even getting to hear some words you know. That's what you're asking for, and it's retarded. You get the gist of what I'm talking about. Most characters have a go to spam attack whether its an punch or an energy blast. If you reach a point where you can't take out your foe with a reasonable amount of those then you power up or start using special abilities that might have limitations/ammo/cooldowns/etc.
